Are there any bandsters out there with type 1 diabetes? Do you have any advice or warnings. Most band advice/stores I've heard seem more geared towards type 2. I keep hearing nurses and Dr's talk about losing weight and possibly getting rid of my diabetes, because they mistakenly think I have type 2 after seeing my weight (which is frustrating).

I am not a Type I diabetic, but my teenage son is and I've been managing his disease since he was little. There are some Type 1 bandsters out there and hopefully, they'll find your post.

I do agree with you...this misinformation about Type I (even among medical staff) is appalling. My son had the Marine recruiter at school tell him that as soon as he gets off his insulin he can be a Marine! My son told him that as soon as he gets off his insulin, he'd be dead.

I really wish that Type 1 diabetes had a different name. People really don't get what you are dealing with.
