Stretched Esophagus

Hello Everyone,

Went to have UGI done yesterday and was informed that my upper esophagus may be stretched! I have had my band a little over a year now and have only vomitted approx. 4 times. I am waiting to hear from my physician to see what he has to say! I am so upset. The NP called and asked me how was I doing with my reflux, I told her I was not aware of having any! She probably thought, "Excuse me!" LOL I haven't had any reflux to my knowledge! I did have a few weeks ago the stomach flu and it is what brought me to the point of having the UGI done! Any suggestions of what I have forward to look for or what is in my near future? Thanks everyone!:(

Hi Saundraq,

I just went thru a similar ordeal. I was told that my esophagus had dilated back in April because of a band to tight....they put me on a band holiday with meds to reduce the size of the esophagus....after the band holiday, with no Fluid in band, I was told that I had restriction on a barium swallow test (there was a little reflux shown on the screen).....they always said that I show reflux also....but I never felt like I had a reflux problem....although I was having problem losing wt....because I could never find restriction....however the test said I did have it.....it turned out I had a hiatal hernia....I just had surgery 2 wks ago....I will go back in approx. 2.5 wks and we will start the whole fill process again.....
