Do they shave hairy abdomens prior to laporoscopic surgery?:biggrin:

Yes. The areas where the incisions are will be shaved.

My pre-op instructions said not to shave your abdomen yourself. They will (operating staff) if needed for the incision sites.

My stomache is pretty hairy and they did not shave it at all.

Yup I was shaved :smile:

I was told to NOT shave prior to surgery because shaving leaves microscopic cuts and they could get infected too easily. They use clippers instead of a razor.

My pre-op paperwork said they would not do the surgery if I had shaved before surgery.

They said it was because they wanted to minimize all risks of staph infections.

That scared me so bad that I didn't shave anything for a week before surgery LOL!

I apologized for my hairy legs and told them why and they laughed with me
