What's the difference in bands?

Why is it that some people have 10cc bands and some have 11cc and 14cc. Mine says its a 10cm but only 4cc. And my dr put .8cc in when he put it on. Will I get less restriction since I can only have 4cc? I don't understand why there are so many different ones.
