Protein Question?

Hi All!!

I am pre-band but I had question about protein. I know that it is a very important dietary need with the band and I was just wondering how to measure protein. How do u know how many grams of protein are in a certain piece of meat? I have always been bad at weighing and measuring food. Also what is the daily recommended protein intake for a banded person?

Thanks!!!

Daily recommened protein intake is 60 - 80 grams of protein a day.

And this chart should help you with the measuring your protein. Good luck. http://www.indiadiets.com/foods/food_nutrients/Proteins.htm

I measure by grams/serving- and with meat I really just measure the size (portion) and know that let's say Salmon is way better in protein than a burger.. etc.. Once you start it becomes 2nd nature and you dont obsess over it like you do when you are 1st banded it is just one of those things you know. Good luck!

I use Elite whey Protien Isolate.

I buy Nectar protein mix from www.smartbodynutrition.com and generally buy the variety pack. I have fallen in love with the coffee one and the chocolate one so I may buy a jug of it next time around. It can be mixed with milk, water or juice and tastes great !.. I also mix it into smoothies fruit..

You made this sound so good that I actually ordered the variety pack. I've been using Elite for so long now that I like to try other things. Elite is good but it's also good to change once and awhile so you don't get bored of the same thing over and over again. Thanks so much. I will let you know what I think.
