Insurance verification after a seminar?

So I'm new around here.. I just barely started to get the ball rolling on this.

I talked to my PCP about getting Lap Band and she thought it was a good option for me, so she gave me a referral and had me call the hospital to set up an appointment to attend a seminar. I went to the seminar on May 26th, filled out the packet, and was told that they would call me once they verified I was covered by both insurances. They said it takes no longer than 2 weeks. We're entering week 3 now and I still have yet to hear back from the hospital on this. How long did it take you to hear back? Or is there something I should be doing that I'm not?

Just wanted to let you know that I went to my seminar on June 14th and mailed my packet to the surgeons office on June 17th. I talked to the surgeons office on June 25th and they said they are waiting on verification of coverage from my insurance company. I have my third visit with my PCP the first week of July and then I will have 3 more to go. I know that for me the time can not go fast enough - I am ready to be banded NOW!!!! Keep me updated on your journey and good luck.

My office verified me while I was in the seminar. I would definitely call them.

I was verified today...just 3 work days after the seminar. Call them!

Insurance reps are pretty easy to talk to, I have found to my surprise. At the very least they can tell you what your policy will cover in general and how long you need to wait for verification. Best case scenario they will tell you if you were verified or if and when the doctor's office turned in the paperwork. The final approval will have to wait until just before surgery though.

Verification received by my surgeons office today!!! First appoiontment with the surgeon on July 26th.
