I have a question - did anyone else get a RX for Prevacid after being banded? I got one and when I called the nurse and asked her if I really needed to take it she said yes for the next couple of months. She never really gave me an explination as to why I needed to take it but that I did. Can someone shed some light on this?

i didnt get one but am interested in finding why one was given!

I got an RX for Prevacid also but didn't fill it. I don't like taking meds anyways, and this seemed unnecessary because I don't have reflux. I'll ask Dr. Engstrand next week when I have my first fill.

I was given a prescription for axid, which is a substitute for prevacid, told to take it twice a day for 3 months, then no more. I did find out i had mild reflux (assymptomatic). I think it is just a precaution to keep the acid down while we are healing. You probably have a little reflux too.

I am taking the Prevacid RX that my surgeon gave me...He said it's only for 1 month and that it is to take all the swelling/inflammation down...
