Powdered Protein for Clear Phase

Does anyone have a powdered unflavored Protein that can be used during the Clear phase that is not bad tasting. I am hearing the Isopure powder is pretty bad. Has anyone tried Inspire? or any GNC brands that work?

IMO, Inspire is hands-down the best. OTOH, you'll want to check with your doctor. Mine does NOT consider it (or any of the powders) to be suitable for the clear liquid diet. Depending on how long you have to be on it, you may not need Protein (during that phase); I was only on Clear Liquids for 3 days, so it was not an issue.

Isopure isn't awful IF you pour it into a Water bottle that has a sports cap. As long as you don't smell it while you drink it, it's not half bad.

But Inspire is light-years better, if your doctor okays it.

I had to be on the clear liquid diet for two weeks, and had some GNC brand chocolate protein powder and I used isopure unflavored. I only used isopure to add to my clear broth to bulk it up, and it wasn't bad. It didn't ass any weird flavor, because the broth seasoning overpowered it.

My personal favorite that I used was the UnJury unflavored protein mix

Oh Betsy, yes.. you are the one who told me about BE and now good their stuff is.. and it is...! Thank you still!!!! and I am ordering the inspire for after surgery!!

thanks for the advise.. I did call and she told me no powdered until the full liquid phase... so... I will stock up on sugar free jello...

If you want a good unflavored Protein to add to things like broth, once you're allowed to have it, Bariatric Eating's PURE unflavored whey protein isolate is excellent.

There's a trick to using it in hot liquids, though. You have to first add a bit of tepid Water, mix into a paste, then VERY slowly add warm liquid. This tempers the protein so that it doesn't denature & clump up. Once it's tempered, you can stir in hotter liquid, to bring it to the temp you like. (You cannot reheat, though---the protein will separate out in little rubbery clumps. So do this with single servings of broth, Soup, whatever...)
