Just got home from my pre-op appt

Recommended Posts

Today I had my pre-op appt and it went alright.

I got an ekg and blood taken. I got sick and almost passed out the first time she tried to take blood.. that was a horrible feeling!

Other then that it all went well, it all seems so real!

I start my pre-op diet Monday! Wish me luck.

Yeah!!! I am so glad to hear that things went well for you today. My tentative surgery date is May 17th as well. I go tomorrow for my final appointment to complete my 6 month doctor supervised diet and exercise. I have lost 15 pounds. Hopefully I will get final insurance approval next week, and then pre-op testing on the 11th.

I'm so ready for this!

Wow 6 months! I am glad you stuck threw it! I had to do a 3 month, I lost 23 pounds. I am now under 300 and that makes me so happy!

My insurance didnt take long to approve me, so I am sure you will be fine! Make sure you keep in touch!

I'm STARVING, I have NO energy, I'm grumpy and I could gnaw my arm off if I had enough energy to do it!!!

23 lbs is awesome in 3 months! I am actually very glad that my insurance required a waiting period. It took me almost 4 months to really get into the mind-set that the band would not be a magic cure for me, but that it would only be a tool. Sometime in mid-March it clicked with me, and I have since lost 15 lbs. These new habits (drinking tons of Water, exercising, being conscious of what and when I eat) are going to be essential for me to have success with the band. I have used this time to read as much as I can about the band, and I feel that I have a much clearer idea of the reality of living a banded life. I am a little worried about the liquid diet, but I know that no matter how hard it will be that I can do it. My hubby has even offered to go on the liquid diet with me to support me.

I am now getting the jitters about insurance. My surgeon's insurance coordinator has done an awesome job, and she assures me that everything is in order. However, my mind is playing tricks on me and I keep worrying that this hope will be yanked from underneath me at any time. I tell that voice in my head to SHUT UP on a daily basis.

I have two insurances, I am under my moms and dads, I am using my moms as my primary and dads and my secondary. My insurance coordinator told me she was very certain I would get approved with my primary insurance but she told me not to get my hopes up on my secondary. She was right. I got approved from the 1st one and denied on the 2nd. They know what there doing, dont let her mind play head games with you!

I am worried bout the pre-op diet too! I am afraid I wont have enough energy and I am a very busy person and need that energy! coffee is going to be my best friend!!! haha

I can't have coffee , which is part of my problem. I can't have any caffeine at all. So the lack of caffeine and the lack of sugar, it's a bad combination for me!! But hey, I hope it's much better for you!

Ahh thats horrible! She told me if caffeine makes me hungry to stay away from it, but it usually doesn't.

Good luck with the rest of your pre-op diet.. just remember its worth it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
