Approved!! Gotta change my name...

...from "JustAskinThx" to "JustLosingThx"!

It took a bit of doing, for a fairly straightforward approval! My BMI and comorbidities made it a viable alternative. Health insurance started covering bariatric on January 1 with no "supervised weight loss" requirement. For all that, when the Amazing Tammie of Dr. Velarde's office in Palm Bay, FL (kudos to Tammie!) submitted it, I first had to get my thyroid tested to be sure that's not the cause of my overweight and then--after the insurance co got that result--they told Tammie "No, her insurance doesn't cover it." The brave Tammie persisted, citing an earlier "Yes" answer when I began this procedure and she checked on coverage, and yesterday I got the call! Tomorrow I have my pre-op surgery appointment. I have already begun the initial restricted-carb diet (10 days with my doctor, followed by 4 days of Clear liquids.) So I am looking forward to the next step!

Yay!:)
