New at this

Hello everyone! I'm new to this and I am needing some guidance on where to go. I am currently on medicaid and I need help with finding a Doctor to try and have the lap band or bypass surgery.

I've been seeing a doctor about my weight for the last 6 1/2 months and have only lost 6 pounds. Where can I find a doctor that will take medicaid so that I can have this procedure done? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Shanna

Hi:

At the top of this page there's a link to "surgeons". You can find the surgeons near you who do the Lap-Band and then check them out to see which ones take medicaid. If there are a couple, you can research them on line, or ask your doctors if they know anything about them.

Good luck!:)

Can your doctor give you a referral or a list of doctors within a 100 mi radius that performs the lap band surgery so that you could either check them out online or call their clinic to find out? Also, I'm not familiar with medicaid procedures......do you get an option of being on some sort of HMO like the Seniors that are on medicare do?
