Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on my band removal. I talked to my surgeon here where I live, and he has agreed to take my band out.. well, so far so good.. he is going to have my records faxed to him and then he will decide if he can do it.. I am thrilled about this.. and my insurance will cover the surgery. yahooooooooo

Don't get me wrong, I am very bummed about this whole band erosion thing, but I am glad to be saving thousands of dollars...

Unfortunately I have a pretty good idea what you're going through. Congrats on your insurance paying for the removal - wish I'd had that!! :mad:

And the good news is - There IS life after the band!

We're here for you! Please keep us posted, and stick around - this is the most well-rounded board I know of, and we need EVERYONE.

what was your recovery time after your removal?

Right after the surgery I thought I was going to die, and then I was afraid I wouldn't... LOL I forget how many times the "normal" dosage of pain killers they had to give me, but once I got past that initial "wish I was dead" part it was a breeze.

Way easier than my gallbladder surgery. I drove myself home the next day (sister was with, just in case) about 30 miles, and honestly it was almost like nothing had happened. Went shopping with Mom the next day, didn't feel a thing. If it hadn't been for those first 5 hours or so directly after the surgery... YIKES!!

I am so sorry for you Francesca - it sucks - but I do understand being happy that insurance is covering everything. That is great.

Thanks for posting Francesca. I have been thinking about you lately and wondering how you were doing. I am glad that you doing ok with having your band removed. Keep the positive attitude and I beleive you will succeed with out your band. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am soooooooooooo very sorry to hear about this! But I really admire your positive attitude! You look mahhhhhhhhhhrvelous dahhhrling! Even if you never lost another pound you look PERFECT!!!

just came from my local Dr. and me say's this erosion is very very serious!! He is going to have to cut me open and I will be in the hospital for up to 5 days. my surgery on on the 11 of November.
