How to mince ginger??

I wonder if anybody knows a better way to mince ginger besides just chopping it into tiny pieces? I also tried a garlic press, but that pretty much just squeezed the juice out. Do they sell pre-minced ginger, the way they do garlic?

Thanks!

In the produce department, I've found minced ginger in plastic tubes---usually placed in the fresh herb section.

To mince it by hand, I usually julienne it thinly, then line up the strips and cut them crosswise into a fine mince.

you could try a small coffee or spice grinder but that may just make a mushy mess also.

Or you could just grate it on your microplane, or if you want larger pieces, on the large side of a box grater.

There's an actual tool for it. It's called a ginger grater. I have one because I love ginger and all of its health bennefits.

The tool is very inexpensive, and can be found at any kitchen store or here on amazon.
