For those who have had surgery already did you have the pressure legs cuffs on when you went in for surgery and when you woke up from surgery? What about a throat tube? Did anyone have any issues right after you woke up?

Nope, no wake up issues. The breathing tube is almost always gone by the time you remember waking up.

They put the legs wraps on prior to going into the OR, as well as the IV, the electrode thingy's on my chest.

When I woke up, the leg wraps were gone, and I wasn't tubed either. I think they take the tube out in the OR, but I honestly couldn't tell you 100% for sure as I was out of it. Maybe there is an OR Rn here who could answer that. Or I can ask my sister in law who is an OR Rn and see what the general procedure is.

As far as waking up from the surgery, there were really no problems with it. It was like waking up from a lazy nap. Nice and relaxing.

I had the pressure leg cuffs on the entire time I was in the hospital. They took them off for me to go to the bathroom and to walk but when I got back into the bed they put them back on. That's just to prevent blood clots from forming in your legs. The throat tube they generally take out of your throat before you are totally awake in recovery. My throat was a little scratchy but other then that, I had no problems what so ever.

They put the legs wraps on me during surgery prep, but they didn't inflate them while I was awake. They were off by the time I got to recovery. The only way I knew that I ever had the breathing tube was because my throat was scratchy.

Waking up was easy. My first words were "I need to burp"... and to this day, I'm still burping. I was loaded into the car within an hour after surgery, so I had no complications.

As a surgical nurse, I can tell you that both of the things that you mentioned are a normal part of surgery requiring general anesthesia. A sore throat is normal post op, if that is the complication that you are referring too.I hope this info. helps~

I remember the leg wraps being on before surgery, but I was so groggy after, I don't remember them after. I don't remember the breathing tube at all. I do remember that when I came to in recovery, I felt very nauseous and I let the nurse know immediately and she put something in my IV to make me feel better.

I remember they gave me something to relax me right before they wheeled me to the OR. It made me feel all nice and warm and happy right away. They were asking me questions about my kids and I was yammering on and on about them. I think they had only wheeled me about 30 feet and then I don't remember anything, but my surgeon's assistant told me the next day I was so cute and talkative. I hope I didn't say anything embarassing! LOL
