  1. Walking around usually helps me, I'm banded 2 1/2 years now and I was getting stuck so many times ( my fault) that I actually don't eat that much in fear of being stuck. My doc says that's why I'm not losing I'm not getting enough real food. I get in my protein with shakes but I know I'm not eating enough cal. They just removed some fluid in hopes it will allow me to eat we'll see I feel like such a failure I avoid food at all cost. Sorry about the venting just really angry with myself
  2. What is lap band plication? I did the realize band jan 2010 and haven't been happy with it.
  3. Lymarie just hang in there you just had a baby your hormones are messing ith the band. My son is months I breast feed for four months so doing high protein was tough it just made the baby very (painful) gasy. Once I stopped breast feeding I was still having a hard time because there were days I could eat everything in site and then there were days I couldn't eat anything without throwing it up. So I went back to the doc it checked the band to make sure everything was ok it was fine so he gave me a fill and now I have great restriction ( I have 8cc) I'm not hungry between meals and I don't eat thing I know I can't because I am sick of throwing up ( my 3year old daughter actually pretends she is throwing up from watching me so many times). Go to the doc and get a fill it will help and give yourself a little break you just had a baby it will take a little while for those hormones to get back in check. You are not a failure today is a new day... Good luck
  4. Checking in at 225 down 4lbs from last week
  5. Checking in at 229 gained 2 back but it is that TOM.
  6. Make a doctors appointment and get a fill because it doesnt sound like you have good restriction and once you go you start fresh it's a new day!!! I was banded jan 2010 lost 40lbs and got pregnant in feb 2011 I regained all the weight ( while pregnant I only had 1cc taken out which put me to 7cc). I didn't go back to the doc right away cause I was breast feeding so 4 weeks ago I decided to go back (I was done breast feeding). I had discussed with the doc about doing the sleeve because I really wasn't happy with the band the 40lbs that I did loss was very hard to loss. So he sent me for an upper gi to check and make sure there was nothing wrong, everything was fine so he gave another fill and said to give it one more shot. Now I actually think I am in that green zone everyone talks about, there is no way I can binge and I don't even feel like snacking. It's 3 weeks since I had the fill and I'm down 9 lbs so now I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and see hat happens. I'm really glad my doc wanted me to give it one more shot because it was my fresh start. And try to get that boyfriend on the band wagon with you it will help both of you in the long run. Good luck Tomorrow is a new day
  7. I am so with you...I feel like a big failure. I am two an half years out I had struggled to lose 40lbs in the first year then I got pregnant gained all the weight back. Now my baby is 6 months and once again I am struggling. The practice where I had my lap band has a new doctor so I talked to him and we are considering doing the sleeve but he wanted me to give the band one last try so he gave me a fill. And I think he may have had magic hands I feel more restriction then I ever did. But on the other hand I really can't eat anything mostly Protein shakes and small Protein Bars and sometimes fruit smoothies for extra calories. It's only been 3 weeks and I lost 8lbs but I know my body I will get to a curtain loss and get stuck and now without eating I don't know what more I will be able to do. Since for me it was like starting from fresh I am looking at it a whole new way so I guess I will just have to wait and see. But don't give up like you said this thing wasn't cheap try doing more shakes the first week was touch because I wanted food to chew but now I don't even think of food because I am sick and tired of throwing up Good luck

  9. You can drink and yes it is just empty calories but you are only 20 so your life doesn't have to stop but you will find the it slows the weight loss. Has for the pot, if you don't get the munches then it's fine but if it makes you tired you won't want to work out and if you don't work out you will have extra skin. So it all depends on how fast you want this process to go and if you do drink just watch what you are drinking mixed drinks are really bad and beer may bother you stomach due to the carbonation I went from beer to wine. Good luck I know you will make the right choice for you.
  10. You had success with he band before you just fell off the band wagon for awhile. I did the same thing for different reasons but I just got back on the wagon a week ago and I'm feeling good. I talked to the doctor and was ready to Go fo the sleeve but he suggested I talk to the nutritionist first. So I made an appointment with her and she went over what I eating and we made a few changes and in the first week I lost 6lbs. The changes were simple like instead of using reg peanut butter in my protein shakes I use pb2 ( which in a powder peanut butter with a lot less fat and calories) also adding ground flaxseed to my shakes for the omega 3. Simple but helping don't give up because the same hing can happen with he bypass and sleeve. Good luck
  11. hello my name is jodi i was banded jan 2010 right now my band is filled with 8.5cc in a 11cc band. i believe this may be my sweet spot even though i don't seem to be lossing much weight. i am having a hard time eating any types of meat or chicken. so i want to start eating more fish which i have never cooked any kind of fish before so i am not sure where to begin. i have no idea how to cook salom or flounder so it can be healthy and tasty. if anyone out there has any advice i would love to hear it. thanks jodi starting weight---242 todays weight----207
  12. i choose the band because i still want to have children and they say it is a lot safer with the band then any other surgury.
  13. it could be what you are eating... i know i can no longer eat any bread or simialier foods, no more red meat and no more chicken. i now eat a lot of seafood for me it goes down the best.
  14. try changing what you are eating, i was vomiting alot and then i figured out i just cant eat those things. no chicken or steak, seafood goes down best and its a better choice anyway. just try different things till you figure it out some times its just what your eating. its all just a learning process...
  15. getting a trainer is a good idea, i had 8 sessions with a trainer at my gym (which offers free daycare) and he taught me all kinds of new exercises mostly with weights, bands, kettle bells and swiss ball none of which put alot of pressure on my knees. when i do these exercises i feel like i have burned more calories then i have ever done on the treadmill or bike. the sweat just pores off me and i am done in 1 hour. do a couple of sessions with a trainer and get some new ideas and then you can do them at home. good luck jodi
  16. like betsyb i will tell people if i think it may help them. dont get discourage yet this is a slow process and remember everyone is different. on oct 15 it will be 9 months since my surgery and i have only lost 28lbs so far. I havent lost in about 6 months and yes i did get discouraged but in this time i have learned that i need to exercise and i started to take a close look at what i was eating. so i have excepted that this was a learning faze and it will only help me keep the weight off for ever. i know from others that have lost the weight really fast they dont really learn how to keep it off and sometimes gain it back so to me im really happy i did get the lap band and i know i can do this it just might take me alittle longer then some but i will succeed and so will you... good luck in your journey and remember this is about the journey and not only the finish line.... Jodi
  17. before you go and get an x-ray have your doctor check with the needle he fills with. before filling have him pull the fluid out with the empty needle it wont be exact but you will know for sure the fluid is going in. on my first fill i felt no resriction so i had my doctor check and they had missed the port all together. well anyway i am now at 8cc and still not losing i go again in a couple of weeks for another fill. good luck im sure they will get this all worked out.
  18. wow you sound just like me, i had my surgury jan 15, 2010 and i am only down 28lbs and very discouraged. i also workout 4 to 5 times a week i do alittle cardio and alot of weights and work out on the swiss ball. i get all my protein in and eat very little food but yet the scale does not move. i am at the point where i think something is wrong with me. my doc says everyone is different and just hang in there. he has just prescriped me a diet pill in hopes that it will help jump start my weight loss i'm hoping and praying this helps. i will keep you informed.
  19. i enjoy going to the gym but i do understand what you are saying. i have a personal trainer right now and he has showed me that i can actually get a better workout with hand weights and a swiss ball. i do like the machines but i actually feel like i get a better workout without them i sweat more and have that day after workout pain like im actually doing something. So what im saying go and get some hand weights and a swiss ball and work out at home.... dont stess yourself out with the gym the stress will only set you back. good luck
  20. thanks i dont think i will give up i want this too much it just feels like something is wrong most people i talk to who had the lap band around the same time are down 60 or more pounds and i cant loss more then 28lbs andim going on 10 months thank you for your support
