  1. So I'm in a dilemma. Got new doc today. My surgeon relocated to Chicago. I've had 2 fills and doc assured me I was now up to 6cc. 3.5 fir 1st and 2.5 for 2nd. Anyway went to new doc and he gave me a fill and said he would put in 1cc. He decided to check and infomeed me I only jad 5ccs and with his fill made me 6 in 14cc. Now I'm wondering is my band leaking, did fill evaporate or did previous doc lie just to pacify me? I don't have restriction yet but new doc does fill cards to keep track of weight and adjustments at every visit. I have appt next month to see if I need fill#4.
  2. Well one thing you'll learn on this forum is that you will get people who are extreme and constantly want fills but it's a personal thing. Also you'll have people that don't handle it right. This is a journey and we all have to deal with all the mental crap that got us overweight. I too want my fills cause this band is suppose to help me achieve goals long term. I am 11 wks post op, had 2 fills and need another. I'm gonna try to get 1 before Christmas. I don't have restriction and I'm at point where I'm not losing as much and it also takes large portions to satisfy me when it shouldn't. Depends on what doc says. I also see nutritionist regularly. Doc says he knows I'm not at restriction cause he can tell when he's fillin me but believes in taking it slow. I'm at 6 cc in 14 cc band
  3. Oh and the other thing about the shakes is doc wants me to eat but says it wont hurt to drink a protein shake daily if I want to make sure im getting in my protein requirements for the day. I had a protein shake for breakfast cause I didnt have time to make anything when I was going out the door. Im gonna eat luch and dinner though
  4. Ok me personally I think its ridiculous! I used to take adipex and when your off it you eat like a maniac, it has potential to raise your blood pressure, mess with heart etc. I figure why bother with lap band if your gonna mess with that stuff, which only can be taken short term because of the risks. Im so glad my surgeon didnt play that. Hence I had to be in 6 month pre op program and managing on my own. You dont get restriction right away. I was banded on 9/16/10 and getting scheduled for my 3rd fill this month. I can eat whatever without restriction. I have my bad days where I fall off wagon and eat too much, but then I have to reel it in. Doc says you usually dont get good restriction until after several fills. Anyway didnt mean to be crude or sound so harsh, I just feel so strongly about taking weight loss meds and them not being successful
  5. The body fortress protein powder is delicious. I get it at walmart and its low in carbs. paid about 17bucks for huge tub. I drink strawberry. I have EAS powder in vanilla and chocolate. They are okay, but I like the EAS premixed shakes at walmart. I get strawberry, chocolate fudge and french vanilla
  6. I have lost 4 lbs and the 4 I had gained back so total of 8
  7. Gas as stated and insides are all swollen. Went away after about 2 or 3 wks. And you have walk to bring gas down. Basics walking around the house
  8. I did 1st 5k yesterday. At 200lbs. I used the c25k app for my iPhone. Finished in 41 min. I was near tears crossing finish line. Just have to pace yourself and breath . Doesn't matter if your slower. Last yr I couldn't wall a block much less run.. Earlier this yr I was in surgical compression hoses for edema. Next yr gonna b leaner and faster
  9. In the same boat but optimistic it will be better. I am 8 wks banded and lost 16lbs in 1st wk and yo yo back and forth. Have not made it out these darn 200's yet but I have gone down almost 5 dress sizes with my preop weigh loss included. Just had 2nd fill Ysterdqy bringing me to 6cc in 14 cc band. Still no restriction. Doc says it takes several fills for sweet spot. Your doing great. I find I'm my worst critic. I know I've lost inches. We must all remember it's a slow and steady process and often plateau as I have. I'm gone change up
  10. Probably because although we havent had bypass surgery you still need alot of nutrients with our intake of food being reduced. I was told by nutritonist and my primary to take multivitamins. I take b12 b/s I have diffiency but I hear band patients can become deficient in it and I take biotin as well. Mainly because they say a side effect of anesthesia and lack of protein can cause some hair loss. I am 7 wks out and I make sure I have 5og or more of protein per day. I still take the biotin anyway. cant hurt I figure. I would say listen to your primary doc cause you will see them more I gather than the surgeon espcially to make sure you dont become vitamin deficient which is easy to do. I was doing chewable vitamins but they were NOT giving me what I needed an adult woman. I dont take calcium because I get it with the vitamins, plus I drink alot of soy milk and eat alot of greek yougurt and other yogurts
  11. I am feeling a little better. I met with nutritionist today and she told me to try and drink more water, lay off the splenda and aspartame drinks and see how that goes. She also told me that it sounds like I need another fill so I got an earlier appointment for the week before thanksgiving.
  12. Thanks so much. I am aware of GI. as I had stated I have been doing well preop and post op. I dont eat biscuits or bread etc. I buy whole wheat high fiber flat outs and tortillas and only have them with soy nut butter and sugar free preserves. I think youre right though, me messing with candy this past wknd and other stuff just got the hunger bug going. I will be giving candy away ASAP and I need to bring lunch to work like I did yesterday, which kept me from overeating. Also I am going to probably going to cook again tonite or tomorrow which will also limit my binging. I hope what you say is true that the band may tighten after 2 weeks. I have appt with my nutritionist in the morning and I will disucss with her as well. Usually I have snacks with no less than 5 grams protein around house and work such as yoplait thick and creamy light yogurt, chobani, wraps, soy nut butter etc.
  13. :crying:Okay so I just got my 1st fill a week ago and I stay hungry like a crazy person. I just ate a 3 wing bojangles meal without flinching including the bread and french fries. I have been banded 7 weeks come this Thurs. I have not been eating like that pre op and make sure I choose wisely. Could it be the running that I do now 3 days a week thats increasing my appetite? Doc wants me back in a month and he couldnt believe as he was filling me that I was drinking the water without feeling a thing. I said I dont feel anything. I think he got annoyed and he says well I usually give 3 CC's 1st fill. I think I shoulda had more. I am hungry every 2 hours. Feels like I cant get full. Ive eaten loads of Halloween candy Sun and Mon, Im Thirsty alot. I get my protein in, but feels like I have a tapeworm or something. And I am not testing this band or trying to have a slip, trust me when I tell you its costing me more than I can afford right now. Seasoned bandsters please help me. :ohmy:I am eating roughly 1000-1200 cals per day. exercising 3 to 4 days per week and generally active on other days
  14. I'm with you. I haven't ate pizza or soda but vie been eating Halloween candy and chocolate. Been so hungry. Got 3 1/2 cc fill last thurs. I was on liquids for 2 days and been eating quite frequently. I feel bad now as well as I don't wanna stretch band. We probably have to eat protein that are denser such as chicken. Hang in there you're not by yourself
  15. Please get ya protein in that most important. I took bottled water, crystal light, EAS Advatedge pre mix protein shakes, sugar free hard candy, container of chicken broth. It wasn't so bad
  16. Ok. That's what it is. He filled that band tight so I could see what that feeling was then he let it out. I feel the lump in my throat when I tried to drink real fast like I used to. I got a lump in back of throat and I could feel it trying to go down. I'm learning. Next fill in 4 wkd right after thanksgiving wknd:-). I just hate not being able to eat solids for next 2 days
  17. 39 yrs young:tongue2: single mom of a 10 yr old living in NC. Has to be a christian. Looking for friendship , cool person to hang with between ages of 30-45.and if its meant to go any further then it will happen:smile:
  18. Had 1st fill appt and was so nervous. Doc did it while I stood up and he sat. had to swallow water while he was filling and he couldnt believe I drank 2 cups without flinchng. I think he got a little annoyed when I kept saying I dont feel anything. He said in back of throat should be a tightness perhaps. then he proceeded to push in more until I hiccuped and belched and could fill liquid going down. I got 3 1/2 CC's in a 14CC APL band. He said keep in mind youre swallowing water, which is different than food and I dont want you too tight. Ok so my question is what does it supposed to feel like when going down if youve had too much? Is there a tightness, lump in throat?:sneaky: or maybe im not phrasing question right. Some one help me out
  19. my doc asked me if I was tired and fatigued. Which I was. Just wanted to lay down somewhere. I also had the raccon eyes as well
  20. I didnt do any exercise for the 2 weeks after surgery. I was just sore, but I did keep moving by walking around house and doing household chores. I started walking and running using C25K Iphone program 3 wks. I am doing about 30 minutes 5 days per week. I am gonna kick it up after my 1st fill this week. Just wanted to wait the 6 weights before I add the squats and stuff to the mix and weight lifting
  21. I was and found out I I am vitamin D deficient and I have anemia which I knew about, BUT the multivitamins alone were not helping. I have to take prescription Vit D for 8 weeks and prescription Iron 3x per day. My doc said she was glad I asked her to check. Sometimes with that preop lab work they either dont check it, or forget to tell you to address it with primary doc
  22. I am irritated. I gain over 3 lbs and then lose 2. well its PMS week and I have gained 2 back again. I am working out and stay8ing active daily. I was so hungry this wknd and ate. I didnt go too far off kilter and it wasnt junk food either. Now the 2lbs have made their way back according to scale at work. I tried to get 1st fill appt and they tell me docwill be out for for a week and wont be back till my appt. Its always something. I am trying to be patient as I know this isnt instant but come on would ya. Im gone look into options of seeing if other bariatric practice will do fills as well. I am going to wait for sure but weighing my options.
  23. It looks like I gained the 2 of the 3 1/2 lbs I gained. I cant seem to shake it. I have been working out to include the couch to 5 k program and I have been so ravenous. I am premenstrual. I stayed within 1000-1300 calories this wknd and to no avail. I ate so much yesterday it was ridiculous. seem Like I couldnt get full. I am going to see if I can push up 1st fill appt by a couple of days
  24. I hope I didnt mess up anything running. I hear P90X is a beast. Im no gonna mess with that yet. I am still jogging with C25K and be picking up pace even more. I am nervous about port since I dont feel it as much as I did on touching my stomach 2 wks ago. Cant wait till next Thurs for my fill.
