Getting/Being pregnant after being Banded
I got the official diagnosis of PCOS today. I had stopped birth control before the surgery and then it never came back on it's own. I have been without a period for almost 5 months now. While I know losing weight won't "cure" it, I'm trying to stay hopefull that it will help greatly. I'm feeling pretty down about it, maybe "less of a women" sums it up. But at least I'm doing the best thing anyone with PCOS could do and getting rid of these pounds!

Will such a small fill make a difference
Hi Everyone! So I was up to 6.5 ccs in my 11cc band. We then went aggressive and put 1 cc in so I was up to 7.5. Well that didnt go so well and I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. Had an unfill of .5. I stayed on liquids for about 4 days after that due to swelling and they were going down fine. When I went to both musshy and solids, I could only take 2 small bites before it would come up. Had another slight unfill of .25. Now I'm back to being hungry about 2 hours after a small meal and even after I eat, I feel like I could have eaten a lot more! Has anyone felt a difference after a fill of only .1 or .2? It's hard to imagine such a tiny amount would make a difference but I'm hoping it will!

Have you found a good recipe for Chicken that you can eat?
I found the best way to keep chicken moist is to first just brown it in a skillet and then stick in the oven (350) for 10-15 minutes! I make lighter version of chicken parm all the time. I put bread crumbs on my husbands but not mine. Some light or low sugar pasta sauce and low fat cheese. Just make sure to season your chicken really well! salt, pepper, garlic/onion poweder, yum!

Question about sex after band...tenderness
I would talk to your doctor for sure! I was able to "engage" in that "activity" 5 days post-op with limitied pain in the port area and I'm only at 12 days post-op now and have no pain or tenderness in that area anymore. The only time I feel something is if I move or twist in a funny way. I've never had surgery before so I had no idea how quickly or slowly my body would heal. Maybe you're just taking a little longer! I know what you mean about the closeness though. I was begging my husband to just cuddle and give me one of those big bear hugs but he was so scared he'd hurt me. So I hope you feel better soon!

How did all the December 6 and 7th bandsters do!?!
How did everyone's surgery go on Monday and Today? Mine went well, I think the hardest part was waking up when I was super confused! A little soarness and tenderness around where the port is, but it's not excatly painfull. I was begging for Water when I woke up but they wanted to see my swallow on the xray first. Now all is well. Sitting her sipping on some broth. No shoulder gas pain YET. Hope everyone is feeling great!!! Allie

Medi weight loss clinic diet!
I have such mixed feelings about Medi. The first time I did it, I lost 20lbs in a month, but loved it. Money became an issue to I stopped going. I gained all the weight back of course. Tried it again and didn't do as well. It takes a lot of will power. First week was only 600 calories of PROTEIN only. I can no longer stand the smell of deli turkey. and you better like cottage cheese and eggs cause thats all you'll have. Second week you add in 2 cups of veggies and week 3, 1 cup of fruit. The clinic I went to was 70 bucks a week. And by the 3rd week, all you're paying for is to get weighed in and get a shot by a tech, not even the RN. not worth the money. Also, even if I lost 2lbs, they acted like I was a faliure for not loosing more. I went right back to weight watchers and did much better and was much happier!

Poor guy, he meant well! My stupid husband is wanting a boat so bad so i said "maybe when i'm skinny I'll be more willing to buy a boat since I'll be more comfortable." and he says...."when you're skinny we can fit more people on the boat" are you serious!??!?!?! Men.

Being Banded In Dec, Few questions about skin/exercise
I havent been banded so I don't think I can answer your question fully, but what I have started working out before being banded! I splurged and got a trainer as well, and we're focusing on the areas that have excess skin and trying to build up muscles in those areas. It's never to early to start. I don't think there's a way to avoid excess skin but everyone is different. You're young so from what I've read, your skin will "bounce" back better. Personally, I'm anxious to get this weight off and begin a family so plastic surgery will be way down the line once my family is complete. Good luck!!!

Quick Breakfast foods?
what about making a fruit smoothie with protein powder? Either use frozen fruit or even yoplait (sp?) has frozen fruit mixes for smoothies. Just add fruit, 1 cup of low fat milk and I throw in a scoop of vanilla protein poweder, yum! I put it into a plastic cup with a straw and bring it on the go! Can also be made the night before just give it a good stir in the morning.

Creative way to buy new clothes!!
Any of those discount stores are awesome!! Ross, TJ Max, Marshalls, and Old Navy clearence is the way to go! Also see if your area has a Platos Closet. They claim to be "gently worn" designer clothes at a discount. In my skinnier days I tried to sell a pair of jeans that were maybe worn 3 times but they wouldn't take them because of some fading in the crotch area. And as your new clothes get big on you, you can always try to sell them!

I'll be banded Dec 7th! Thats what I keep saying, A new year a new me! Maybe our dates will be around the same time :puke: I would tell your husband soon. You'll need the support, espically during those times when you'll start to freak out!

Has anyone used Dr Nick (NicholsonClinic) or True Results in Dallas TX?
I'm self pay so I think my process is done a little differently. I bascially went to see him,he answered some questions I had, and then I picked my date. I picked the first week in Dec becuase i'm going on vacation in the middle of Nov. Didnt want to have my first fill the week before I went away just in case something went wrong. All I have to do is go get my blood work done 7-10 days before surgery. I guess it just depends on what your insurance wants. My surgery will be done at Forest Park medical center (75 and 635) not at baylor. This is becuase Forest Park is just a surgical center, mostly out pt. which allows the price to be a little cheaper as opposed to the private hospital. If you go through insurance I think it's done at Baylor. Hope all goes well for you! Let me know what happens! Allie

Recovery Question
Just wondering how every one did the day after surgery. Were you able to move slowly about your own house or did you actually need someone to help with everything? I'm debating whether or not I need to ask my Mom to come down or if I'll be OK the next day when my husband goes back to work. Thanks!

Hi Everyone!
Hey there! I'm new to the boards but have been reading for a couple months now. I want to thank you all for providing such great, truthful information, but most importantly, you're inspiration! A little about myself: I'm 25 living in the north Dallas area. I went to a seminar back in March, did my homework and submitted all the insurance paperwork and waited. Then found out my husbands employer did not opt to have weight loss surgery as something they wanted to cover, I was totally bummed of course. I had just finished grad school and had only been working a couple of months (meaning I was dirt broke). Well a couple of months later, I saved up half the cost and was approved for the rest through care credit. Now, I'm ready to begin this new life! I have my first apt this friday and I'm super excited. If all goes well, I plan on getting banded early December (fingers crossed) I wish I could get it done sooner but already have so many plans for the upcoming months like a vacation and husband is having a minor surgery. Cant wait to get to know all of you!
