  1. I saw a protein shake recommended earlier on the boards and had to go out and get it this afternoon to add to my choices for the next few days. GNC Banana Cream [20g Protein] is indeed DELICIOUS! It isn't chalky or smelly. Yum! I actually can't wait for my next shake! Just wanted to share....
  2. It went well; I blogged about it here. Hope your having a good week. The weekend is here and I am nervous. I'm busy at the office and it's easier for me; I think I am going to have to stay on the go the entire weekend so I'm not bored at home; you know where that can lead....
  3. My surgery is in 12 days and as much as I want this for myself, I am just as nervous, too! All your fears are justified and are completely normal. Looking back, in say 6 months - we will all be in a different world, living a different, much healthier and slimmer life. I send prayers for safe travel, procedure and recovery. We can do this.
  4. I quit cold turkey last June. It actually wasn't hard at all after about the 4th day. If you weigh the benefits of quiting with the risks of smoking, it keeps you motivated. Stay focused; you can do it! It takes around 30 days to make/break a habit; your there. Chew gum. Drink water. Go for a walk. If your having WLS to become healthier; the last thing you want to do is to start back smoking.
  5. What shakes are you using? Today is my 3rd day on liquids and I've been on Unjury, Chocolate (not shabby) and Vanilla (yucky). I find mixing in the blender with ice and making a thick shake, makes them 100 times better. Also, for lunch I just had the Unjury Chicken Broth (powder/add water); it was great! I added a bit of pepper. Good luck!
  6. Hi. I am a newbie and wanted to introduce myself. A few weeks shy of turning thirty-one; I've been approved for gastric banding and am totally, totally excited about getting a tool to assit with becoming healthy and of course, smaller [the ultimate goal]. Surgery is 9/22 and I am on day two of the pre-op diet. So glad to be here!
  7. The type of surgery that is better, is a decision that only personally can be made. The Lap-Band/Realize Band is the least invasive and reversible. The sleeve requires a 2 night hospital stay and requires the actual cutting of your stomach. From this point, you probably have several months before you actually can have a surgery scheduled. There are consults, education classes, psychologist evaluations, nutritional evaluations, lab work, GI testing, and possibly required weight-loss, depending on your insurance. So, I probably wouldn't start the liquid diet just yet. It's purpose is to shrink your liver, if fatty, to make a healthier surgery. By all means, working on lowering your BMI pre-op is always beneficial; but the liquid-diet is a pre-op requirement. Also, for the required weight-loss, your insurance might require 6 mo - 5 years of records and 10% weight loss. I would call your insurance up front to see if you Bariatric services are covered. Good Luck!
  8. My date is 9/22 and am on day 2 of my pre-op diet. Good luck everyone!!
  9. Hi friends :couch2: My surgery is scheduled for September 22nd; I'm currently on day 2 of Pre-op. Things are going well....scooting right along. I've realized over the past 24 hours how addicted I was too food. Actually happy I'm on this pre-op plan as I know it will make me better adjusted post-op. Good luck girls! :blushing:
  10. Thanks for the suggestion; I will head out on lunch and grab some. I just had a shot of straight coffee; oy! I'm not a coffee drinker so that was rather bitter :blushing:. Good luck on your surgery; looks like you have only a couple of more days!
  11. I've successfully made it through day on of this [horrid] Liquid Diet. My question is how can I add caffeine to my diet; I'm sporting a major caffeine headache. I normally only drink 1-2 glasses of Coke Zero a day, but can't have. or Can I? The Crystal Light tea has zero-caffeine. My diet consists of: 4 Unjury Protein Shakes (2 w/ FF milk / 2 w/ Crystal Light) (*Crystal Light = GAG! ) Then, I can have only 6 servings of the following in addition to: 1/2 c. Cream of Wheat (plain) 1 serving Sugar-Free Jell-O 1 serving Sugar-Free Pudding 1 serving Sugar-Free Applesauce 1 serving Fiber One Yogurt 1 c. Tomato Juice Celery, Broccoli, Carrots
  12. Hi! I am sorry you had a horrible day :smile2: I had a perfect day on the diet; but it's been very, very hard. My diet consists of only: 4
