    Election Issues

Before I leave, to set the record straight my PM to Bjean is as follows: "I get the reason now for your unwarranted bitching and moaning. You are a right-wing conservative who thinks they know everything. Enough said." No where in my message did I call Bjean ignorant. Please get your facts straight before you misquote someone.
  2. Hey Ash, what part of Texas are you in? I'm from the Bryan/College Station area (where Texas A & M University is located).

    Smart One

My newest breakfast is half of a well toasted English Muffin with a slice of Canadian Bacon, egg white cooked "in the round". Add slice of fat free cheese. It's almost the same as an Egg McMuffin. Very yummy.:blushing:

    need help being assertive

Co-worker was being complimented on her shirt and how it made her look like she had lost weight. She said, "Oh, that's because I'm standing next to fat people." I then said, "Oh, you mean fatter people." She too is fat. It felt so good.

Does Banding Work if you're over 50?

I'm 59 and was banded 9/2/10. So far I've lost 35.5 lbs. It can be done.

    One month anniversary

Hey frenchy30097. My surgeon's education class listed very specifically what types of foods we were allowed to have. I am walking 30-45 minutes 5-6 nights a week. I try very hard to limit my portion sizes. I use a bread or salad plate for meals. I have not had a fill yet. I went in on Wednesday and since I had lost 35.5 lbs, I was able to choose whether or not to have one. I decided no. I eat very small amounts of carbs, mostly chicken, fish, pork tenderloin. I also try very hard to have no snacks. Sugar free popsicles and sugar free pudding are the only sweets I've had, except for a few tiny, tiny bites of coffee cake. Good luck on your journey. Each of us is different. Keep in touch. Peggy
  8. Today is my one month anniversary of the new me. Banded on 9/2/10 and down 32.5 lbs. No longer considered morbidly obese, just obese. Yippee!!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Texas

Hi Ryanon. I also live in Texas (Bryan/College Station area). I was banded on 9/2/10 so I'm still learning also. Will be glad to be a friend to you.
  13. I have tried Unjury and highly recommend the chocolate or chocolate splendor. Did not like the strawberry at all.
  14. I agree that we need to lose the pettiness. I "did my research" but still ended up having fluid taken out day 2 and day 6, back in hospital on day 6 for dehydration. As they say, s...t happens so we should be supportive of each other when it does. No amount of "doing research" can account for complications that arise. Each of us are different and react differently to the same surgery. Help, not hinder each other.
  15. Did the doctor give you anything for nausea? I had Scopolamine patches for before surgery and suppositories for afterward. Ask for some. They do help.
  16. Trust me it will get better. I was banded on 9/2/10 (Thursday) and the next day (Friday) before leaving the hospital I couldn't get any fluid in. Doctor came in and took out some of the original fluid that was in the band he put in. Helped, but had to get 8 ounces in within two hours. Monday tried jello, got sick as a dog, wouldn't drink or eat on Tuesday, Wednesday went in to doctor, he again took some more fluid out of band and pronounced that I was dehydrated because I wouldn't drink. Back in the hospital for fluids. I promise you it will pass. After the initial swelling goes down, you will feel much better, I swear. I'm one month, two days out and I feel great. Down 32.5 lbs, am walking, doing well. Hang in there.

Just really do what the doctor says. I've tried two slices of toast (after I got to eat real food) and they just didn't do anything for me. I eat from a really, really small plate (smaller than salad) and try to limit things like potatoes. They were great though in mushy stage. Have only had fish and chicken with a very small slice of meat loaf as my meats. Hope to progress to more in time. You will do great. I would ask the doctor about the size of the band as I had a large hiatal hernia repair at the same time and doctor told me the bad may have been too small. Haven't had a fill yet, but am scheduled to go back on 10/11 and maybe he will do one then. We'll see. Good luck. If you have any questions or just want to talk, let me know.
  18. I had to have some of the original fluid in the band removed while in the hospital and then again 6 days later. After that I've felt much better. I also felt that tightness, but luckily no shortness of breath.
  19. Married 34 years, dated for 5. Together for 39. No cheating on either side.

    What's for lunch today?

Chicken chili is what I had today. I couldn't even classify my portion as a bowl. Maybe the kind my 3-lb Chihuahua drinks water out of.
  21. I could lie in bed but on an incline. After a few days could lie on right side with no discomfort. Left side (which is my preferred side and where the port is) took about two weeks. To roll over I had to hold tightly to the port area and roll.
  22. I love laughing cow wedges. Any particular flavor with goes better with the chicken?
  23. You can go to Unjury.com and order sample packets. I recommend Chocolate or Chocolate Splendor. I did not like the Strawberry
