Lower BMI Bandsters!
That is good to know Serious. I know that contacts are pretty bad for your eyes, as 80% of the O2 to your eyes comes from the external air. It was definitely more intense than I anticipated, but I am good now so far. Looking forward to super white scleras!

A thread for Single Bandsters
Krisiti, I can't wait to hear about your blind date. I hope he is awesome but just remember that those that are uncomfortable to live through can be funny later.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Silry, when I did Weight Watchers before, I weighed once a week and then I measured myself every 5 weeks. So that is what I am going to do now as well. Of course I really weigh myself 5X a day but I am only counting the one on Friday morning.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Hi everyone, just checking in. I had Lasik eye surgery this weekend, which everyone says is a breeze. I can honestly say I had more stress and nervousness with having my eyes cut than flying solo to Mexico for lapband surgery. I also had way more discomfort with the eye surgery and everyone says that it is a breeze. I have no pain now, 36 hours post op, but the first morning was a bit rough for me. I can honestly say I would much rather do the lapband again than the eye surgery. But I can say I can see clear as a bell now, which is worth it.

How long until I'm not exhausted?
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA again, Deckedout. You are a witty one. Actually I admire you for teaching all grades. Adults are taught to nod politely and clap if you are speaking in front of them, regardless of whether or not you are a bad speaker. Kids however, are brutally honest.

new and seeking advice re removal
This is a thread about Sharon Osbourne, and the 18th post has a synopsis of an interview she did with Dr. Phil about her band. The way I read the synopsis is that she doesn't want to have the band in anymore because she misses eating, not because she developed bulima nor because the band reached its lifespan limitations. However, I did not watch the show and I don't know if the transcript is accurate so my third hand knowledge certainly may be wrong. Also, I may have misinterpreted the information. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/dr-phil-tomorrow-t26767p2.html?highlight=sharon+osbourne

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
Well I slimed this morning. I didn't PB but I slimed.... and it is slimy. I really thought I was going to be okay because I was eating slow and everything. But in the morning I guess I am tighter than I think I am. So I am going to just eat oatmeal or a Protein shake I think.

Audree, LOL, I hear you about the scale! I am on that sucker 3 times a day. Congratulations! It is amazing isn't it? I think I will post my calorie intake, my Protein, fat and carbs and Water every day since I track that off of Sparkpeople like someone suggested.

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
Hey Audree, Here I am all geared up to join you in the Susan Beach Diet. How do we do this thing? Just post every day about what we are eating, how we are doing? Are you going to weigh in once a week, or measure once a month? Any thoughts on how you are going to run this show?

Lower BMI Bandsters!
I am thinking of waiting to get the fill for a little bit just to see how things go, to kind of get used to where I am now. I am for some reason ambivalent about getting the fill, even though I don't think I am losing that much weight. Of course at the same time I am not eating or wanting to eat as much as I did.

Audree, I agree with Serious. I think you should weigh yourself when YOU are ready.... even though we are all dying to know. I like your attitude about it though... that you are trying to do something different. I feel that everything I am doing is different right now so I totally relate. I always try to keep no food in the house except what I am eating that day because I am afraid that I will eat it all. Now I just have food lying around. Well, it is put away in my kitchen but I am not eating it. It is so weird to me to be sitting here, not having eaten for 4 hours and not even remotely hungry. I am not restricted really but I am really not eating a ton of food. It is really hard to get my mind wrapped around it even though I am doing it. I keep waiting for it to somehow end even though intellectually I know it won't.

Silry, I remember feeling freaked out too. I told myself I could walk away from the surgery up to the minute that I was knocked out. It is all very exciting, and scary... and exciting!

HAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Good one. I don't know what grade you teach, but I am afraid of high school kids. Really. If you teach high school kids then I admire you.

Serious, Thanks for the advice on the enzymes. I am a big enzyme supplement fan! Good idea, didn't think of it in this context. I am glad your fill went well with the doctor and I feel ya on the PB thing. I was liquids for several hours after my PB. Definitely didn't feel like eating anything solid or mushy. Glad you are feeling so good!

Lower BMI Bandsters!
I have only been banded a little while but I have already saved so much money on food and eating out that I can't believe it. I also can't believe how long food lasts when you eat the right amount of it! I am going to have to be really careful when shopping. I am single and if I buy what I ate before I am going to be throwing it all out. Alright peeps, I am going to bed... Have a great night!

How long until I'm not exhausted?
Deckedout, Well... I am more like the Wile E Coyote version of a genius rather than the MENSA version.. but I do a whole lot with fitness, nutrition, rehab, exercise, and injuries for my job. Plus I am passionate about it on a personal level (although you would never know it from the way my body looks, LOL. I tell people I am the fittest fat person they will ever meet. I don't know if that is true or not, but I tell people that). In short, I have extensive knowledge both from experience and from my profession about this subject. In my not so secret real life I get paid for this... so feel free to ask me whatever questions you want. Your max HR is 220-41 = 179... Mine is 185 and the highest I have ever been is 183. For you to be that high you will feel like your heart is about to explode. I am quite sure Hamu was in misery on that treadmill. You will likely only be able to keep that HR for a matter of seconds, should you ever get that high. Which I don't recommend in cardio training. If you were lifting weights and doing something like dead lifts, your HR could get that high... but that is a different question. Anyway, for you to be in fat burning you can stay in Zone 2 or in Zone 3. Zone 2 = 90-107 and Zone 3 = 107-125. I am not sure why our numbers were different on the zones though. Your numbers match pretty close to my numbers for Zone 2. I calculated it by taking your Max HR * .5 to get 50%, Max HR *.6 for 60%, and Max HR * .7 to get 70%. Anyway, if you stay between 90-125 for at least 20 minutes then you will be in good shape.
