Lower BMI Bandsters!
Hey guys, Welcome all newbies! Prebanding is so exciting... oh the anticipation! Enjoy the anticipation I say. Qwinner thank you so much for the dilation story. I think I need to be pretty careful since I like to eat a lot. I am cutting and pasting your story so I can read it every day until it is ingrained. Audree, I am very glad to be getting my fill on Friday. I haven't been doing so hot and am eating about 2500 calories every day and have eaten more. So I hope my fill helps. I haven't PBd in a while so that is good. I am very glad I got it under control before my fill. I probably wouldn't have gotten my fill if I was still PB'ing. I almost had a problem today at lunch. Guess what I was doing? Driving in the car and talking on the phone and eating. The same thing I am usually doing when I PB. If I don't pay attention I definitely eat waaaaaaaaaaaay too fast and too big of bites.

My port was kinda funky for a while... I was banded Jan 5th and it is still a little sore to touch. I say give it a while... but then I don't know how uncomfortable you are. I am a big baby myself.

Hey Deckedout, Sorry to hear about your knee... you can definitely walk the 5k. I wouldn't even worry about Boston (the people I know run a marathon in like 3.5 hours or something to qualify. Uhhh no). I made a goal to do some kind of event every month in 2007 and so far I have done it (haha that's only 2 events so far, LOL). That way the events keep coming and I keep training (except last week I was a big slacker). If you like to swim, have you thought about joining a Master's swim club? Those people really swim a lot and are in great shape... it ain't your grandma's swim club. I am actually a little intimidated to join one here but keep saying I am going to. I say do what you love! I think the PT will help a lot if you have muscular imbalance in your leg causing the knee pain.

Jodie, At the risk of sounding like a bitter old lady who rains on people's parades.... you betta check yoself befo you wreck yoself It may be flattering to have people pump you up to be sexually attractive and desireable but that doesn't mean that you want to act on it. That kind of a life choice can have very long-standing and far-reaching implications. I know you didn't ask my opinion so it may be unwelcome. From an outside perspective it seems you have really stepped up from naughty little trysts to some relatively high risk behavior. I am worried.

Qwinner, That is a GREAT idea about cutting up your food before you start eating it! I will be starting that tomorrow. I continue to struggle with eating too fast/too big of bites. I have not PBd in a couple of weeks but I LOVE that idea. THANKS

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
Lapbandfan, I gained 3 lbs last week. I am doing better this week. I still eat too much. Hopefully my first fill will help some. The good thing about tomorrow is that it's another day, right?

By the way the scale said I was +3 lbs this morning. Boo on weight gain! Although I am not surprised. But still, boo.

Qwinner, wow thanks for your post. That is a very good reminder to be good and stay good. I know that I am still struggling with my bad food habits. So far the very first one I have overcome (for the most part) is giant bites. I still eat too fast but I am doing better. I also still eat too much. But it is really nice to see your success and I am really sorry about your struggles now. Now that I have the band I know I am going to have to be one of the people that really needs to be careful. I seem to want to push the envelope with it, even only 6 weeks out.

A thread for Single Bandsters
As far as dating multiple people, I am kind of like Chrispy. One of the dates generally becomes the guy I am interested in. I kind of use the rule of 3s when I am dating. The first 3 dates are free... meaning if they don't call or I don't call after the first 3 dates, then no harm and no foul. I don't think an explanation is necessary. After 3 dates, if I am not interested, I feel obligated to inform them of that. A corollary to that is that I don't do anything on the first 3 dates where I feel like I would be mad if they didn't call me again. Like sleeping with someone. After 3 weeks of dating I think there is usually enough information for me to tell whether I want to be mutually exclusive with someone. If they don't want to be mutually exclusive after 3 weeks, then that is fine but I move on. This is not negotiable to me. After 3 months I can usually tell if I want to be in a more serious relationship with someone. If I don't, then I cut my losses. I don't hang in and hang in a relationship that I don't think is going anywhere. So that is the Susan's Rule of 3s dating strategy.

I think a stripper might be fun for a while but my thought would be, I am not taking this guy home to meet my dad/colleagues/family. I can't help but think with both men and women, why would you do that job? He may get a lot of props for being sexy but there is so much more to life than just being sexy. And he may be a lot more than sexy but I think most people would allow the job he does overshadow anything else about him. I don't think he is doing any service to himself by being a stripper. So I guess my thing would be, yes he may want me and be texting me and even be a nice guy, but do I really want him as a boyfriend. I would probably have to say no. But then again, I may end up as a Scary Old Dog Lady....

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
I have been feeling kinda tight the last day or so... not eating much, which makes me happy. But haven't been doing that great on tracking my eating, which I need to do in order to stay on track with my diet...

Hey bandiva, I get my fill next week and I am like you, wishing for restriction. I have to be a little careful how I eat and when I eat but I can still eat a lot. Audree when is your fill? It is next week, right? Mine is Friday the 23rd.

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
I had a problem with PBing until I learned what triggered it. For me, I was "snarfing" my food... taking too big of bites, not chewing and eating too fast. All my life, I have been embarrassed because I wolf down my food. I would always say I was going to stop. Now if I don't eat slowly, chewing small bites of food thoroughly, then I get in trouble. I have only been banded for a short time but I feel like this is a really positive change for me. I haven't lost a lot of weight yet but I am sure that this one change will really bring me a long way down the road to my goals.

Hi Carrie, Good luck and glad you are here. I was starving pretty quick after surgery... it gets better with the mushies I think.

Bikergirl, It is very exciting to have the approval and be on your way! YAY! Miss Bandster, I have trouble too, although I have sort of figured out what is working for me now. Audree definitely knows a million different resources, so I hope you take her up on her suggestions. I don't cook so unless the cookbook comes with a chef I am SOL, LOL. Denise keep us posted on your fill and how it feels! Missy, I am glad you are here and looking forward to your contributions. Audree, I am doing just alright today. I didn't workout or keep track of my calories today. I am going to get back on the wagon tomorrow with it all. I am taking a statistics class online and I forgot I had to do homework and take a quiz so I was busy all night with it. If anyone wants to know the probability that I will not do procrastinate both homework and quizzes at the same time again, I will be happy to calculate it for them!

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
I haven't kept track of my diet since Friday. Will get back on track tomorrow. When is your fill Audree? It is this week isn't it? S

I can't eat anything, but I can eat a lot! But still not as much as I used to eat, for which I am thankful.

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
I am doing really well. I am still eating 2000-2400 calories. I notice the number is creeping up some now in terms of calories eaten. No more PBs though. I have figured out I pretty much can't do bread and I am mushy stuff in the morning. I am glad I can't eat bread anymore because I feel like it is wasted calories anyway. My 8k went okay (5 miles) but I was last. Which is fine. I didn't expect to be first, LOL. I also went mountain biking again. I didn't fall off my bike once so that is an improvement from last week! I exercise like mad but don't lose weight and that seems to be have remain unchanged. I notice my calories are creeping up a bit. I am glad I am getting my fill next Friday. Hope everyone else is doing great! Susan
