  1. I am discouraged that I have only lost 30 pounds since my banded date of August 9. I have had fills every 6 weeks since. My last fill was 6-1/2 cc's and the doctor hesitated to give me that much the day before Thanksgiving. I am going to today and I want to ask for more fill. In the last 2 months I have only lost about 1 pound. Any suggestions? I think I am going to ask him to increase my fill to at least 7-1/2.
  2. Thanks Bonnie. I, too, have never felt any real restriction, nothing getting stuck or slimed. I sure hope this works. I always worry that my port has a leak or that something is not right.
  3. ...oh and thanks for your reply Honk. It helps to know what other people stand as far as their fill amount. I know a lady at work that only gets 4 cc's and is very satisfied so I wasn't sure if my fill amount sounded normal.
  4. I am to be on liquids for the first day and then soft foods the next day following a fill. He will only give fills every 6 weeks (which I think I need more often than that). I have been excercing 3-4 times a week by either Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, walking, Gazelle, pilates, Zumba, and aerobics. (Not all the same days). I can tell I am eating a lot less and healthier so I don't understand why I am not losing.

    Where is my port?

Once you start losing, you should be able to feel exactly where it is. Your muscles will be sore for a while but you will start feeling better in a few weeks.

    First Fill Today

Today I am 29 days post op and went for my first fill. At first I was not sure what to expect. I saw the needles, saline bottle, bandaids, alcohol prep pads on the counter. When the doctor came in he made me lie down and do a small crunch. He then inserted the needle. It was totally painless!! I just felt the tiny pinch of the needle and that was it. I did not receive any anesthetic before the injection and I definately did not need any. I feel so at peace knowing that the only negative thing about getting a fill is the hour drive it takes me to get to the doctor's office. It only took about 5-10 minutes with the doctor before I could leave.

    First Fill Today

I still get nervous when introducing new foods but so far I haven't had any problems eating any new foods. I don't know if that makes a difference.

    First fill today...ouch!

I got my first fill today too. He put in 4cc's. I came home and had some Soup but I could only eat about 1/2 cup. I ate my soup about an hour after my fill. I was getting very hungry over the weekend and was eating a lot more than I had after surgery so this fill came at a good time for me.
  10. I got through this stage with eating high protein foods like fish, and eggs. For me, going back to work and being busy and not home thinking about being hungry helped a lot. When I got home I would eat a small meal, go walking, bathe and then straight to bed and not have to think about being hungry. For me, it was all about getting into a routine. I was a lot like you. I wanted to cheat SO VERY BADLY but I got scared and never did. The pay off was a loss of 10 pounds the first week. Hang in there. Read a book, blog on this site, keep busy, busy, busy!!

    First Fill Today

Oh, I got 4 cc's added to my band. I got full on eating a half cup of soup. Doc said I have to be on liquids for the rest of today and tomorrow and then soft foods on Thursday.
  12. I am 3wks post op and I still have soreness on both sides. It seems like when I eat and my band is tight, I also get a pain in my port too. I don't know maybe its gas or constipation. Everyday I feel a little better than the day before. Hang in there.
  13. Ok, I can say that I had my first taste of post-op alcohol last weekend. (I am 3 wks post-op as of Monday) I had about 3 drinks. The worst part for me was the way I felt the next day. I HAD a high tolerance for alcohol but I felt very hungover and VERY dehydrated. It was difficult to not gulp a bottle of water, especially with food. I was soooo thirsty. It just wasn't worth catching up on hydrating. I will definately be more cautious next time and limit myself to 1 drink. And I didn't really need the additional calories. Feeling a little guilty about it now.

    Attention Stomach Sleepers!!

I was surprised that I was able to sleep on my stomach a week and a half after my surgery. I am 3 weeks post op now. Its still a little sore at first getting into position but once I get adjusted, I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I would never have thought I would be sleeping on my stomach so soon.

My bowels moved...and so did the scale!

I noticed that I have been constipated--definately not regular. I even gained 2 pounds last week. (I am 3 weeks post op yesterday) That is reassuring. I am going to try some of that and see if that works. I noticed I don't even have much gas anymore. I guess I can't complain too much about that though
