surgery tomorrow woohooo
I'm sore but is not bad.. yesterday I was more sore and I had gas pain in my shoulder (still do a little) It just felt like I did a million sit ups. I didn't follow the resting rules though, I took a little nap when I got home Friday and yesterday but other then that I have been up and walking around. Even went to the store yesterday. My surgeon said that walking of course will help the gas go away faster but she said it will also make your tummy not as sore. I also am making sure I am taking my meds right at the 4 hours needed and not wait until I start to hurt. I think that made a difference too.

one month post op.....
Sugar free snow cones are fine! I like to eat the sugar free fruit bar popsicles. My problem is salt, I am just a day out of surgery so I am not craving it yet but that was a huge problem for me before.

Anyone train BJJ, Judo or MMA with a lap band?
I do not have experience in anything like that but really if you think about it there will always be risk... but of course as long as your not getting directly hit in the stomach I wouldn't think the risk would be as high. Just cause you have the band doesn't mean you have to give up what you love. You just need to be a bit more aware of your actions.

I will have to try that as well! I have never had greek yogurt before today cause of all the bad reviews but glad I finally decided to do it!

Greek Yogurt
I have read in a few different places where people talk about how bad greek yogurt taste but they still tolerated it cause of the protein. Well I just bought some called Chobani and it is pretty good! Got it at my regular grocery store and they had different flavors with the fruit in the bottom. 0 fat 140 cal and 14 grams of protein.

Recovery Question
I had my surgery yesterday and just got back from the store. It was good to walk around for a bit. Hardest part was getting in and out of the car. Of course I have a very high tolerance to pain so everyone is different. Only problem I have is bending, and the gas in my shoulder. Other then that all is good =)

Gas pain in shoulder and chest???
I am glad I found this thread!! I was starting to worry cause right before I was suppose to have surgery they found I had a enlarged heart so I had to cancel surgery and go through all that... Finally had surgery yesterday and am having some pain in my shoulder and chest on my left side. I was starting to worry it was my heart but now I'm seeing its prolly just gas pains. Whew!

The new guy.
Welcome John! I also struggled and tried everything else before I decided the Lapband was the way to go. I went through my insurance so it took me 4 months from start to finish but that time was much needed so I can learn about the new lifestyle I was about to take on. During that time I also "lurked" around this site and learned soooo much more then I could have anywhere else. Was banded yesterday and I am feeling pretty dang good  Congrats on the choice made and good luck! I know you will do great.

August Rush in bandland!
I am now in Band land (in Sept but still wanted to post in here lol)! I am excited to start this new journey. Other then slight chest/shoulder pain and of course tummy being tender I feel great! Doc told me I could go right to mushies if I wanted to but she would prefer me to stick to full liquids until I see her in 2 weeks...which I am more then fine with... soups are way better then just clear liquids! I don't know what kind/size band I have..forgot to ask. I need to go out and buy a good scale though. The one we have only goes up to 300 and now that I'm actually interested in weighing myself I need one that goes higher then that.

Here Come the Emotions...
Woohoo!!!! Congrats Sarah!!! I am soo happy your doing good. I also had my surgery yesterday and other then feeling sore I feel great. I am up and walking a lot.. my surgeon told me that it will also help the soreness of my tummy feel better. I to had a pump put in my belly for pain meds but had to pull that out last night due to it leaking. I was nervous about taking it out and thought I would for sure be in worse pain without it but so far so good

SICK of sweet milky protein drinks...HELP!!!
I also love the Syntrax Nectatr, only flavors I tried though are the strawberry and vanilla which I love. I bought the strawberry kiwi and did not like that one (SUPER happy Vitamin shoppe lets you return/exchange anything you buy). How do the other flavors taste with the Water? I want to find a good one that I don't have to mix with milk all the time. Also what about unflavored protein? I would love to find a unflavored one that I can throw unto some Soup or even my new favorite drink sugar free hot coco, without ruining the taste.

Looking for September 2010 Bandsters
I also have my incisions glued (doc called it glue) She told me not to mess with them and we will look at it at my 2 week checkup... I would assume maybe they fall off after awhile? yeah its way too soon to take them off.

Looking for September 2010 Bandsters
I'm Back! Went in for surgery at 7:30 and was home by 1:00 I am feeling pretty good. I am on my liquid meds, they also put a Go Pump in me (pain meds automatically are being pumped into my tummy area through a tiny tube) Doc said it will last until Sunday then I can pull the tubes out. Have to carry the pouch with me for the next 3 days but it's worth it. I can't believe I am finally banded.. its been a long journey! Good luck to the others getting banded today and I hope your surgery went as smooth as mine!

Looking for September 2010 Bandsters
Thanks! I go in tomorrow at 7:30 and surgery is at 8:30! I do not have to stay overnight and should be home by 3.. I don't think it has really sinked in yet, I'm not nervous or anything but I'm sure in the morning that will be a different story!

Starving
I am on my liquid diet and my poor boyfriend doesn't know what to do. I have turned into a crazy person..lol I am not starving per say but I miss eating. My boyfriend wanted to be supportive and do the liquid diet with me but of course I knew he wouldn't last.. I don't blame him though, I am only allowing him to make and eat things I do not eat but I am not sure if that is working anymore.. I do not eat red meat and hate steak with a passion but last night I was ready to jump him for that steak lol. food was my drug of choice and just like any other addiction going through that cold turkey (mmm turkey) phase makes us all go a little loopy

200 LBS to Lose
Lashonda I feel the same way.. I love being a thicker girl and I don't want to be stick thin. Right now I am 375 (OMG that just brought tears to my eyes typing that) which is the heaviest I have ever been, and about a size 26. According to the charts I should be at 160 but my goal is 220. Once I get there I should be about a size 12/14 which I am pretty tall so at my height will look very healthy. I was 160 in high school and my family thought I had a eating problem since I was so skinny and my hip bones stuck out. In my early 20's I started gaining weight and loved the curves I got.. but had no idea how much I let it get carried away until the last few years. Now I just want to go back to being healthy and even found a surgeon that feels the same way which makes me very happy since I will not have the pressure to lose more then I want. I am soo very happy to see there is someone on here that feels the same as me. I know to some people the point of doing the surgery is to be skinny, and get into that 2 piece they have been dreaming of, but I just dream about the time where I wont get tired after walking around a store after 30 min and just start feeling better. My surgery is coming up this week and I am so ready...Good luck with everything and please keep us updated!

Protein Powder!!??
I like Syntrax nectar Protein powder the most. Vitamin Shoppe is a great place to buy protein drinks from cause they have a no questions asked return/exchange. I bought one I didn't like and even lost the receipt and still had no problems exchanging it for a new one.
