Feeling weak... Tired... HELP!!!
I would suggest you get your iron levels, including iron stores checked. My sister had Gastric Bypass and suddenly lost all energy and that was her problem. More of a risk with GB than the band though.

Four Weeks Post-op and Hungry!!
bbammom, My kids are on holidays but i'm not. Went for a walk at lunch time today to avoid the lunch time work talk but the biggest offender decided to walk with me, it was good though cause i walked faster so she had to breath instead of talk , so got a good brisk 20 minutes in. My daughter loves hiking through the bush, don't know whether i'm up to that yet. Good to see another August 30 bander at the same stage as us. I wore a shirt to work today that i have never been able to do up before. Hooray! Little by little we will reach our goals. Welcome lml398. I have only lost 5 kilo post op and the scales haven't moved for a couple of weeks now but people are starting to comment so i must be loosing inches, from other posts that seems to be something that happens - a mystery as to why the inches disappear while the weight stays stable at times.

Four Weeks Post-op and Hungry!!
The sun came out on Sunday so i grabbed the kids (14 & 16) and headed to the Zoo to see the Pandas. We walked around for 4 hours and i barely needed to sit and rest which is amazing because 8 weeks ago i would have been in pain with my back after 10 minutes. So i am really feeling the benefits of the weight i have already lost which is 17 kilo (37.5 Lbs) The scales reflected my efforts yesterday but have gone back up today. It is very frustrating. And yes i am still weighing daily, cant help it. 60 lbs is a great weight loss, cant wait to get to that figure. My foot is sore again now but i will need to ignore it and try and go for a walk again after work tonight, it will be much easier when daylight saving kicks in and it warms up a bit. We just need to be strong and patient till will get our fills. Enjoy your day. Yes post op exercise program is included in the co payment - six classes in total and then i think you can pay to continue and that can include water exercises i believe, but that is with another hospital that has teamed up with my group. They also have a support group but i wasn't able to get to the last one which would have been my first meeting.

is ibuprofen ok?
My post op instructions read -Regular 4 hourly Panadol on its own or combined with an anti-inflammatory such as Nurofen (Ibuprofen) is generally adequate for post op pain. I took it for several days and recently for a sore foot - no issues.

Four Weeks Post-op and Hungry!!
It is cold and wet and miserable here. It does not encourage me to get out but i try to force myself. Now that my foot is better i will definitely go for a walk to today. I have been parking my car as far away from the office as i can so i get a little extra exercise morning and evening. My surgeon does post op exercise classes and i will be booked in for those at my next appointment. I also see the Dietician again on the 5th October so will be able to discuss what i should and shouldn't eat. Right now i am going to have my breakfast shake. I am on antibiotics because one of my incision sites just wont heal up and i think that is adding to my rumbling stomach. I will have some yogurt at lunch and see if that helps. I can not resist weighing each morning but should follow your lead and only weigh once a week. My weight is still holding steady. Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine.

Four Weeks Post-op and Hungry!!
Well done on your weight loss.I have no idea if i will get a fill when i see the surgeon, i'll find out on the day i suppose but it is only a short appointment i think. I have been on protein shakes for breakfast and specially designed frozen Band meals for lunch and Tea. I am now starting meals with puree meat - which seems odd because the meat in the band meals is not pureed. So soft meats and well cooked vegies i think. Recommended to keep to around 500g of solid food per day and drink 1.5litres of fluid. I will try to stick to 700 to 900 Calories daily. I try to walk daily but have had a sore foot so have been restricted for a few days. I need to loose at least another 60lbs.

Four Weeks Post-op and Hungry!!
I was banded same day as you. I have good and bad days. Today i am not hungry but my stomach is rumbling and i feel the need to eat. Yesterday i felt hungry most of the day, eating only kept me happy for short periods. I lost about 26 lbs (12 kl) pre op but have only lost about 10 lb (5 kl) post op and the scales seem to have come to a stand still. I believe this is quite normal though and something most people struggle with until they start getting fills. I dont see my surgeon until Oct 5th as well. My biggest challenge is chocolate is calling out to me, i crave sugar. Strange because i have been off it for nearly 9 weeks now. Oh well, have a glass of water and go for a walk and then it will be time to cook dinner.

Flying to Japan
I once took a packet of potato crisps on a flight from Hong Kong to Australia. The packet swelled so much due to the cabin pressure that i was sure it was going to explode, i think this is the concern with the band, that it will swell, not explode though. As for the Tylenol i think the airlines are strict on the amount of liquids you can take. Maybe you can put some into a smaller container to see you through the flight. Have a great trip.

I don't think I took the easy way out!
I don't think there is any easy way to loose weight and to then keep it off. But if there was an easy way why wouldn't you choose it. The ultimate goal is to be healthy and wouldn't any one with a brain choose the easiest path to reach that goal? The band helps us to make good decisions about what and how much we eat. But it is still up to us! Be proud of what you are achieving.

Week 2-3 Ideas?
I made potato soup and put it through the blender ( not too thick) and i bought some chicken soup and put that through the blender before heating. Surgeons nurse suggested this.It kept me happy.

Week 3 Post Op Eating too much
I am 3 weeks post op and although i felt like i could eat anything i tried to be very selective about what i consumed. Slowly i was starting to increase the amount though. That was until Saturday when i got a really severe pain that lasted 5 hours and happened again on Sunday. As i had not had anything but my shake on Sunday when the pain hit i realized it was the vitaminD tablet i took with it that was getting stuck. This has scared me and i have gone back to fluids but will try soft food again tonight. What this has told me though is to be cautious, because if a little egg shaped pill can get stuck, if i eat too much or the wrong thing i could be in big trouble. Unsure if i have any fluid in my band, I am not due to see the surgeon for another two weeks.

Vitamins
Any one know where to get chewable adult vitamins in Adelaide? I can not tolerate the vitD or caltrate, they give me pain. Bariatric Advantage in the US have them but dont supply Aus yet -on their way apparently. ( as far as i can tell)

Retaining fluid
Dont you need a doctors script for those?

I told my husband
I didnt want my husband and especially my children to know my weight, so i didnt even know. I would not use the scales because it has a save function and you can check what the previous weight was. I didnt weigh myself for about 2 years and put on a lot of weight in that time. When i started all this i decided i had no choice and jumped on the scales and nearly had a heart attack i had gained so much. Hubby also hopped on and had also gained heaps so then i told him my weight, he was fine and even went on the pre op diet with me.

Retaining fluid
I am 3 weeks post op and my weight has not changed for 5 days. I am consuming between 700 - 900 calories daily and have been walking most days. Yesterday i had pain so only had fluids, about 2 litres in total but only had to pee a couple of times. I usually have to get up during the night and didnt even need to do that. I drink my quota of fluid most days but have notice a slow down in output for the last few days really. Normally i would eat some celery as it is a natural diuretic but i cant eat that. Maybe i will try a cup tea today. I dont like tea much though. Any other suggestions.

How to get away from the scale?
I have even been getting up in the middle of the night to weigh myself. I lay awake and wonder if my weight will be down and I cant sleep so have to get up and check. This week i have been going back to bed frustrated as the scales are not moving.

Pain
Thanks. I tried to ring the doctors room but no one was there so thought i would wait and see what happened before i rang the out of hours emergency number. Had some warm soup that hurt like hell for a while but now the pain has settled and i feel much better. Think i will stick to fluids for the next day or so! What would cause me to get pain like that first thing in the morning?

Weird but good
Fantastic. I am only 3 weeks post op but cant wait to feel what you are describing.

Pain
I am nearly 3 weeks post op. I woke up this morning and was fine but as soon as i got out of bed i started getting pain in my stomach. I feel like i need to burp and have but the pain is still there. I have had some fluid but that makes the pain worse. It has been about 3 hours now and i am starting to worry something is wrong. I have taken panadol about half an hour ago. I dont have any nausea just spasms of pain. Any ideas on what could be happening?

Adelaide surgeons
I had my band done nearly 3 weeks ago by Prof Toouli at FPH. I was very pleased with everything. He was recommended to me several years ago by a girl i worked with.

Back at work
I am back at work this week and was a bit concerned at peoples reactions. I was quite open with every one because it is a fairly close team. Past experiences with diets have seen people (not these ones) feel the need to monitor every thing i put near my mouth and i thought this might happen now, but everyone has been wonderful, very supportive. We had morning tea yesterday and i was even offered a bit of cheese cake - which i declined. At lunch time on Monday a girl from the office next door came to talk to me and told me she was banded in June so now i have some support nearby if i need it. Overall returning to work has been wonderful. I am 16 days post op and have lost a total of 16 Kilo's.(4 post op).

Head hunger...
I try to keep busy. I will be back at work next week and that will help. I also find diet jelly (jello) helps for a short time. And i keep telling myself it is in my head and i am not really hungry. I survived, well actually thrived on 2 shakes and a special band meal a day and nothing else for 4 weeks pre op so i can do this... We can all do this!

Kids say the darndest things.....
Kids are funny and not necessarily young ones. We were discussing how great it will be down the track when i have lost more weight and my 20 year old pipes up and says, "i don't want a MILF for a mum." I was also telling my mother about this while we were in the hospital (for her) and she asked me what a MILF is and the young nurse who was walking by just about choked, it was funny.

banded 6 days ago and Im hungry!!
Yes! I am 10 days post op and around day 6 -7 was craving food. I think it was just that i though i was hungry. I had a couple of days where i had extra serves of soup but, then i had no weight loss. Yesterday i kept myself busy all day and stuck to my shakes and soup and it was a much better day. I also keep diet jelly (jello) in the fridge to eat when i need something. Returning to work next week will help so i wont be sitting around thinking about food. It is also hard when you have to cook for the rest of the family.

How much weight have u lost?
I am 8 days post op as well and i have only lost 2 kilos. I have been eating low fat ice cream as recommended but not a lot and potato based soup, maybe thats why. I lost 12 kilo pre op though and feel pretty good. Cant wait to loose more.
