I am day 7 and am tolerating my shakes well although i have only been having half serves as my dietician said no more than 1/2 cup of anything 3 x daily. Day 3 every thing i consumed made me feel ill until i had yogurt. Normal low fat smooth yogurt, 100mls. I was thinking of getting some yukult but the yogurt seemed to help.
Pre op I did optifast for 2 meals and then had a Fulfil (new frozen band meals)meal for tea. I lost 12 kilo in 4 1/2 weeks. Breath wasnt too bad but sensitivity to the cold was bad some days. And i was constipated.
I used to be a nurse but am now in admin. I am having two weeks off as suggested by my surgeon. My main concern is wearing a bra for eight hours as it puts pressure on my stomach and at the moment i last about 1-2 hours and then have to rip it off.
I was banded 30th August and am on free fluids for another week. I am supposed to only have half a cup but that doesn't fill me up.I have been eating a lot of diet jelly. I figure it satisfies my need to eat, has no calories and increases my fluid intake.
After 2 weeks i can go onto 2 band meals a day (specially prepared frozen meals) and i am looking forward to that. I had these for the pre op diet but only once a day with opitfast for the other two meals - had good weight loss.
Also when i am back at work i wont be seeing all the food ads on TV, i never realized how much food advertising there actually is. Noticed at first cause it made me feel sick and now they make me feel hungry.I am hanging in there though!
Banded 4 days ago. I lost 11 kilos (24lbs) pre op - as requested to reduce the size of my liver. Came out of hospital 2 kilos heavier. Today however my weight has dropped and and i am down a kilo on pre op.
Wish i had done this before but didn't have the support and probably wasn't ready to make the commitment required to be successful. Turning 50 shook me up and with a strong family history of diabetes i decided it was time to improve my health.
Looking forward to not worrying if i will fit into the seat on the plane or at the theatre!
If i had a barium swallow i don't remember it, so i am fairly sure i didn't have one. I had my surgery at 9.30 am and there was no way i would have been OK to go home the same day,i couldn't keep my eyes open for more than 5 minutes. I struggled home the next morning and was quite anxious as i was nauseated and not tolerating much fluid. But i am day 4 post op now and doing OK.
I had my surgery on Monday and it is now Thursday here in Australia. Day 2 was awful, i just kept thinking"what have i done to myself".I had pain radiating up into my chest, i was nauseated and trying to get any fluid in just made me feel worse. Today i am happy to say i feel human again, my pain is minimal and i am able to tolerate my fluids. Now looking forward to some weight loss and a healthier life style.
I am 2 1/2 weeks into pre op diet and have lost nearly 8 kilo (17lbs). 2 weeks to go and am starting to struggle a little, having cravings especially when cooking for the kids!
