  1. This looks like it's gonna be amazing. They've got a 5k walk/run in the works and I heard that before/after photo show is a real tear-jerker.
  2. My surgeon did both at the same time. I had no idea gonig in that I had a hernia, but man, what a difference. I thought I just had bad reflux.
  3. Ptar - I had my band put in just over a week ago. I had a tough time for a few days. The recovery was rough and the reality of the port and band was... odd. As I've been healing it's been getting tons better. I'm still on liquids but am feeling very good and am starting to be friends with the band. Give it some time. It's a huge adjustment.
  4. I was banded at NWWLS last Tuesday. I used Dr.Watkins and was very happy with the whole process. Everyone on this thread has pretty much covered my reasons for choosing them, their aftercare was one of the deciding factors. Dr.Watkins was also great about answering questions and their success rate is very good, in the high 90 percentile. I like those odds
  5. I was banded on the 9th at NWWLS in Everett, and so far it has been a good recovery. The toughtest part of the operation for me was when they delivered the antibiotics through an IV before going in. They said there may be some transient naseua, and sure enough, there was. It was like having the 2 minute flu. Scared the heck out of my huibby. After that, they took me into the surgery room and put an oxygen mask over my face and said, "This is just oxygen right now but in a minute we will be giving you the anethetic and....(fade to black)" They discovered a hiatel hernia while they were operating and repaired it (explains the acid reflux). That was the only thing out of the ordinary. Today is my first day back at work and so far so good.
  6. I go in to Northwest weight loss surgery tomorrow morning for my band. Dr. Watkins will be doing the surgery. I'm nervous but they walked me through the process so well and they have such a great track record the only thing that can get in my way is me. How is the liquid stage? Are you hungry?
  7. Just had my pre-op appointment and am getting wound up for my surgery on the 9th. This is so exciting! I haven't told many people about the surgery outside of my immediate family, I guess I'm a little gun shy about public dieting. My hubby came with to the pre-op appointment and met my doctor and toured the facilities to "check them out". He won't admit it but I think he's nervous for me. When we married 6 years ago I was in the midst of one of my only successful diets. I sometimes feel like I've pulled a bait and switch on him. I can't wait to work with the band to whittle myself down to what I was when we got married, and less. He and I both deserve it.
  8. Hey Amy! We've got the same surgery date. Can't wait to watch all of the january bandsters shrink. I too am sluffing off work to read the boards here. I can't seem to read enough about the band right now, but, "the more you know..."
  9. You lose bits of food in your cleavage. Your boobs fall into your armpits when you lay on your back.
  10. Hey all! I'm climbing on this bandwagon too. My surgery date is January 9th.
  11. Congratulatons on your first step. I look forward to hearing about your journey.
  12. I just got my surgery date today. January 9th. I have to admit, I'm nervous. I've done my research and am happy with the decision, but still... I was warned today about "The Last Supper Syndrome". Then on my way home I bought a box of Queen Anne Cordial Cherries. Apparently I am highly suggestible.
  13. Dec 13th is the day I go in for all my appointments. Where are you going?
  14. Hi All! I'm scheduled for my pre-op appointments Dec 13th at NWWLS in Everett WA and will get a surgery date after that. I've been reading the boards here for a few months and am grateful that there is a place where so many banded folks can come to share what's happening with themselves. It's one thing to hear about the possible effects of surgery from your doctor, another to hear how it affects real lives. Thanks! Elizabeth
