  5. Ok, I am becoming increasingly discouraged by the results, or lack thereof, since having this band. I have lost appx 10 lbs and not budging. I've had 1 fill a month ago of 2.25 cc in a 4 cc band. Initially I was pretty tight, but now that's just worn off. Let me say this first and foremost, I have not been getting the recommended Protein, but recently (yesterday) saw where someone posted a website and I ordered several supplements with 40-60 grams of protein per serving. I will give that a chance, then you will definitely be hearing from me again. I would love to hear from others who have struggled in the beginning, only to succeed later (3 months and minimal results is pretty discouraging).
  6. Has anyone had their TT with Dr. H. I just love him, and because of the experience with my band am considering using him for the TT too.
  7. I was banded 13 months ago, and was not very happy with my lack of progress in the losing area so, I purposely got overfilled. However, I have not been able to get anything besides liquids down for a month. I have realized that I had not been working the band for it to be effective. First of all, I was banded in Nov and had my 1st fill in March, then did not have another until Nov. What I've noticed with the people who are progressing at a more rapid pace is that they are having frequent fills. Anyway, although I am PBing if I try to eat anything (even Soup, and sometimes water), I am terrified of getting any of the Fluid taken out. I don't feel ill, or weak or anything, but in my heart of hearts I feel like this is probably wrong, and the weight is eventually coming off now. What do you think?:cry

    November Bandsters!

Hi,my anniversary is on the 27th, and I've lost about the same, but have only had one fill, and drink and eat anything I want, so in the next year I will be more disciplined.
  9. I've found that to lose, I must assist the band. So I embarked on the "6-week body makeover, and I am having great results. My impression is that we still need to help this band along, and it will help us with not regaining the weight as it has been in the past What do you think?

    motivation

I haven't posted in a while. Guess I'm too busy showing off my morphing body. To continue on the topic of exercising, I can motivate myself but not for long, so I haven't been exercising since the band, and when I wasn't losing I was frustrated. However, I've decided not to beat myself up and make sure I do well in the eating department and it is working well for me. I just saw a program, I think it was on 20/20 where the guy was saying cardio does nothing for you but weight training is the way to go. There was a woman on who went from a size 24 to a 4 and she swears by it. I do believe it is necessary to get up to your target heart range at least 3 times a week and hope to be there one day. Until then I can do the weights, since I love weight training. The weight is coming off slowly, but it is coming off, and I have no time limit. I just want to keep losing and not gaining.

I know exactly how you feel, but when it's all over you'll wonder what you were so anxious about. Good luck.

    Something To Ponder

I've noticed quite a few bandsters are still "dieting" and I wonder why some continue to be obsessed with dieting as opposed to changing behaviors, making healthier choices, incorporating exercise into their daily lives, etc. Let's talk about it.

Has anyone ever forgot they are banded?

That's the beauty of the band, you're not constantly reminded that it's there. However, over indulge, and it will remind you. I love it.

    On The Lighter Side

2 years ago I joined a site for BBW and their admirers. Well today a very handsome male contacted me and wanted to date someone between 250-400 lbs, pear shaped, blah, blah, blah. I was very happy to inform him that I was not his type since I'm under his weight range, and steadily getting farther away. He wished me good luck and will continue looking for his girl.:clap2:

    Secret? Yes or No.

This is how I feel about disclosure. Just like all other medical information, this is private, and you should share it with only the people you choose to. I always ask myself "how would it benefit me to tell anybody what I do with my life" if the answer is "nothing," they don't need to know. If you need people watching everything you put in your mouth and asking if you should be eating that, by all means tell them, because that's exactly what happens.

    AHA-i found it (unfortunately)

To place the lapband your liver has to be moved out of the way. The larger you are the larger your liver is. This is why the advise to lose some weight before the surgery. Your liver shrinks considerably with only a small about of weight loss. If they're going to do an open placement it would no longer be a lapband (laparoscopic), in which case you're at a higher risk for infection, complications, and thus recovery time increases. Also, the scar isn't pretty, and you're under anesthesia longer.

    Something To Ponder

To expand on what I said when I started this thread, and maybe I wasn't clear enough. "Dieting" to me is pills, and overall obsession with counting calories to the point where all you think about is what you're gonna eat next. This was prompted by several postings asking about various diet fads, not trying to make healthier choices. Let's continue the discussion.
