  1. Day 2 post-op and I am feeling like CRAP! I am burping constantly and am finally pooting, but I feel like I have been beaten! My neck and shoulders are so sore! My stomach and port area are so sore! I thought I would be up and about, but not the case! I am taking my pain meds which knock me out, but I just want to get up and move. My tummy is feeling a little weird.:smile2: It's not hunger pains, but like I have eaten too much sugar? Any ideas? I am on clear liquids - sugar-free jello, broth, ISOPURE, G2. I have also drank some coconut water to get some potassium as my calves were cramping up. Any ideas are appreciated! Hope all you other September Sweeties are doing GREAT!
  2. I'm alive! I had to be at the hospital yesterday at 7:30 and went into surgery around 9:30. We were on the way home by 1:00. The worst part of the day: the IV ! They stuck me 8 times and each time my veins popped. Sooooo, they had to do my IV in my NECK ! I almost got up and walked out, but the anesthesiologist numbed it before and it really wasn't bad. I also, ended up having a hernia, so he corrected that. The gas pain is brutal:thumbdown:! Behind my chest, in my shoulder and today in my neck. It is easing up, slowly but surely. I am more sore today around my stomach and at the port site. Luckily though, I have had no nausea. I am on my clear liquids and just trying my best to get all I am supposed to be drinking. 64 oz. is alot when you cannot take in more than 1oz in 2-5 minutes. I usually end up dozing off! I am so glad that I made this decision!!! And my friends and family have been a great support!!!! Good luck to the next bandies in line! My prayers are with you!!!!
  3. spjrkb, where are you located? I am being banded by a Dr. in Albany and there are no aftercare program fees. Everything was covered by my insurance. If you are in ATL, then I suggest "shopping" around. If not, my Dr. in Albany is Dr. Bagnato. He comes highly recommended and I love him! Good luck!
  4. I have found them at Walmart and at Publix. Publix has the best selection where I am. Walmart only had the chocolate fudge and the vanilla.
  5. Look up the Sugar Busters diet online. What you are doing sounds very similar to what I am doing for my pre-op diet. I have to do Sugar Busters for 3 weeks pre-op. So far so good. It is fairly easy to follow. You basically eat nothing with over 3 grams of sugar in it. And, I have lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks. Not too shabby!
  6. I have found a Protein shake that I like and thought I would share. It is the EAS CarbVantage Protein Shake. Low carb, low sugar and 17g of protein. They come in a 4 pack and I haven't paid over $5 for them. There are 4 flavors, chocolate Fudge, strawberry, vanilla and Caramel Cafe. The Strawberry and Chocolate are my favs. Just thought I would pass on the news.
  7. All insurance companies are different. I would recommend calling them and asking if they cover it and what the limits are. Most ins. (and doctors) require a BMI of over 40 or it can be lower if there are at least 2 co-morbidities. Looks like your BMI is 35.7. I would call your insurance company and talk to your physician. I definitely would NOT recommend gaining weight to get the surgery.
  8. Paigey, so excited that you got your date!!! I am in middle Ga and am being banded on the 23rd by Dr. Bagnato in Albany. Best wishes and Good Luck!
  9. hocuspocus, my date is the 23rd also! Good Luck!:blushing:
  10. Had my pre-op appointments yesterday which laster FOREVER! My 1st appt. was at 12:45 and I didn't leave the hospital until 5:30! I was so tired and hungry! My pre-op diet hasn't been too bad. Sugar Busters is fairly easy, and I have lost 12 lbs in 6 days, WHOOP WHOOP! So, the Dr. Bagnato's office called me this morning and asked if I wanted to move my date to Friday...REALLY? I jumped on it, only to realize 30 seconds later that my husband and I are taking the kids out of town this weekend and they are really looking forward to it. So, date is still the 23rd, but it is coming fast. Hope everyone is doing well with their new bands, their pre-op diets and their nerves!!!
  11. T-minus 12 hours until us September Bandsters get our turns!!!! I am so excited not only for myself, but for each and every one of us! Hopefully we all can keep each other posted and be each other's cheerleaders through this journey! I am starting my pre-op diet tomorrow (was gonna start yesterday, but I had some of my Grandmother's turkey and dressing waiting for me and couldn't miss that). I am doing the Sugar-Buster's diet and I am not too worried about it. I think the biggest thing is learning to cook more healthy for my entire family (all of which are skinny except me). They will learn to love it! I will always have the sugary stuff for them to snack on, and I am just gonna have to be strong. I can do this...WE can do this! GOOD LUCK SEPTEMBER BANDSTERS, I am rooting for YOU!!!!
  12. I am scheduled for a lymphatic massage both before and after surgery. Has anyone else had this done? I hear it is great to aid in healing and getting the lymph moving before surgery. Just looking for any information.
  13. BandedNellie, are you doing ZUMBA at home or at a class? I have been interested in starting it, but just thought I was TOO BIG to attempt a class. Didn't want to embarass myself.
  14. My pre-op diet is the Sugar-Busters diet...Low carb.
  15. I'm being banded on September 23rd. Start the pre-op diet, Sugar Busters, next week!
  16. I am! I live in Perry, but work in Warner Robins. I started my journey in June and have a September 23rd date. I am being banded by Dr. Bagnato in Albany. It's a great group and I am really impressed! Keep in touch!
  17. YES!!!! Finally!!! I met with a nutitionist/dietician at the Medical Center in Macon. She was great! We met for about 45 minutes. A day later my doctor had what he needed to fax to the insurance company! My band date is September 23rd. Keep me up to date on your progress!!!
  18. I have a September 23rd surgery date! I am soooo excited!!!!
  19. I am getting banded 9/23/2010 by Dr. Bagnato! So excited!!!!
  20. SOOOO Excited! I have been approved by my insurance and have my surgery date...September 23th. Post OP on September 7th!!!
  21. I was just approved on Friday by Anthem BCBS. They are really quick as my doctor only faxed the paperwork Thursday morning. their only requirements were a psych eval and a nutritional consult. Good luck! Just call them and stay on it. The people at BCBS are really friendly!
  22. I am having a hard time finding someone to do my nutritional counseling (for insurance purposes) in the middle Georgia area. Does anyone here know of anybody that does this?
  23. Just wanted to introduce myself. I just had my first appointment yesterday with Dr. Bagnato! I am so excited to get this ball rolling! I am waiting for insurance approval (Anthem BCBS). I have wanted to do this for a long time and hopefully it will happen soon!!! I love reading all the success stories and advice.
