  1. MRV--feel free to vent anytime. If you can just find a quiet place, say a little prayer and expect God to do the work. When you get those feelings--don't eat--(yes, I know it's easier said than done). Try to find a new hobbie or something to replace it with...clean the house, read a book, etc.
  2. Farmer--KUDOS FOR RUNNING!!! One day I will I had my first fill--really good and quick experience. The put in 1.4 and to my suprise----TOLD ME TO COME BACK IN TWO--YES 2--WEEKS FOR ANOTHER FILL!!!!
  3. Nina, Toni and Steph and any others who have experiences their 2nd fill--- May I be so bold as to ask how much weight did you lose between the 1st fill and the 2nd fill. Hope I'm not being too rude...but I want to set realistic expectations. I'm going in for my 1st fill tomorrow. Well actually today--it's 12:25 am
  4. If you have Direct TV, there is a channel FITTV. It has a variety of exercise shows (belly dancing, weight training, cardio, yoga, etc)....choose which one you want. Record it if you're not at home...that way you have one on tape
  5. Stephanie: Here's a link for a thread all about cooking talipia (hope it works) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/need-talipia-recipe-32004/#post424717 Are those of you who are having sleep issues taking vitamins? Maybe the early rising is due to a better metabolism
  6. Toni--have you heard about the bariatric chef with JourneyLite. Are you with JourneyLite...see my post on page 138. Nina---I was in the store yesterday and got some jerk sauce--I'm going to try it on some talapia later this week. Someone posted about stuffed talapia in wal-mart. I'm going to look for it later. I get my first fill on Wed....YEA...YEA...YEA... I hope it gives me some restriction. I feel like I have something in my band, because I don't eat as much. It may just be mental for me...I'm going to ask if there's anything in my band.
  7. Toni--I remember you and someone else saying that your were apart of JourneyLite (I think that's the name). I saw this on another post and was wondering if you knew about the new bariatric chef for JourneyLite. I copied it so that you could read it....If you choose to participate, please share the recipes with us, if it's permited by the program. 8. Congrats Ja9va!!!--I agree---every little bit will lead to a big bit!!! What's the emmi series? Dan--What about your veggies? Are you using V8 as a serving of veggies? (sorry so many questions, but I'm about to move to 'real food') HEY TONI!!!! Just speaking to ya!!! I haven't "talked" to you in a while!!
  9. Hello Junees!!! I haven't posted in a while, but I've been keeping up. I read the boards DAILY... It's been really busy this week for me, so I've been reading in my few spare minutes using the internet on my phone. So I haven't posted in a while. I have an appointment for my first fill on July 18th--CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! I think that I have figured out that when I am I full I burp excessively!! The only problem is that I don't know when "full" is UNLESS I burp. I don't feel anything..maybe it's because I haven't had a fill. ANYWHO!! As much as I hate exercising...I have been consistent to meet my July challenge of 3 times a week (30 minutes each time). I've even kicked it up to 40 minutes each time!!! YEA ME!!!! Nina--thanks for the list of protein. I printed it and it should be extremely helpful when I start "EATING". Dan: Thanks for the menu of what you're eating. I know that most literature says that we should be eating 3 meals a day and no snacks. Are you eating every 2 or 3 hours instead of 3 meals? Did your doc or nutritionalist suggest this?
  10. FaithMD--Thanks for the list. I was wanting a list of protein. Does anyone have a list of high protein snacks? Kland--Thanks for the idea of eating every 2 hours. I tried it today and it worked PERFECTLY!!!
  11. mjsafari---CONGRATS!!! CONGRATS!!! CONGRATS!!!! YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY!! FarmerE--Don't let the argument get you down. Enjoy your 4th and know that with or without the band or your boyfriend you are a valueable person and worthy to be loved-first by yourself and then by others. Sometimes it takes others time to become supportive because they TRULY don't understand (especially if weight has not been an issue for them).
  12. TONI--I love BIG MEDICINE too.... I Tivo it....Can't stand Mary Jo...she's against everyone getting help. I Tivo'd a show called Inside Brookhaven Obesity Clinic. I didn't think too much of it....The narrarator seemed somewhat negative and some of the obese patients seemed to be exploited.
  13. Kland I'm feeling great!!! Prior to surgery, I was in SAM's and saw EAS in liquid pre-made shakes and powder. I purchased a HUGE bag of the powder (so that I could make different flavors)--It has 23g of protein. I'm glad to know your eating habits because I am going to try it. I had been trying to train myself to have only 3 meals a day--in preparation for eating post-fill. However, I can't eat 3 meals, 2 protein shakes AND DRINK water!!! But the 2-4 hour period puts it in perspective. Thanks for the insight!! BTW...AIGB was full for July, so I'm getting my fill at Surgery Center of Richardson, but I've already made my appointments at AIGB for August and September. The staff member told me that the two places may be merging soon.
  14. Nina--Thanks for the encouragement I am having so much trouble getting in my protein and food and water. I just started the "mushie" stage....oatmeal for breakfast, for lunch and tablespoon of peanut butter and cup of soup. I am struggling trying to get a protein shake down....I'm full!!! I found a tasty recipe from my doctor. half cup of sugar free-fat free pudding, scoop of protein powder and milk--blend and put in refrigerator for 15 min. Makes a nice pudding.
  15. I love BIG MEDICINE. I have it on Tivo. I like the fact that they are showing real cases--where everyone doesn't get approved and the public gets to see that it's a real political, emotional, and financial struggle just to "get to the operating table" I CAN'T STAND the lady psychiatrist....If it were left up to her, everyone would be screwed up and no one would be eliglbe for surgery!!
  16. go to tickerfactory.com and create a ticker. When you get to the last step, cut and paste the bbcode from tickerfactory into the "edit signature" portion your profile page on lapband talk
  17. I told you I HATE EXERCISE....But I did it today!! I walked for 30 minutes around the neighborhood park!!!! YEA!! Yea!!! Yea!!! I created a new ticker to inspire myself!!!!
  18. Angie, I had the pain with burping also...or if I felt like I wanted to burp, there was a small hurting in my chest. But for me, it has gone away. I've been banded for 2 weeks.
  19. So today I had pot roast with potatoes and carrots. A bite of the potatoes kinda got stuck, I had to take a sip (and I mean SIP) of water to help it down, but otherwise I was fine. CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I HAVE RESTRICTION!! I know how you feel...I 'm not skipping stages.I will begin the mushies tomorrow and I CAN'T WAIT TO GET UP AND HAVE GRITS FOR BREAKFAST, CREAMY SOUP FOR LUNCH AND MASHED POTATOES FOR DINNER.... I'll probably dream about it tonight.:hungry: So now I'm thinking maybe I still have some trapped gas in my abdominal cavity? Is it possible? I've been banded for just over 2 weeks now. Are you trying to walk everyday? Try walking to the end of the block and take gas-x strips...hope it goes away soon. I've been lounging in bed in the evenings before I retire to my recliner... I think tonight is the night I will attempt a whole night in the bed. We'll see! I wish you well in sleeping in the bed!!! If you read this before going to bed, place a small pillow near you side to buffer the mattress.:notagree Sweet dreams....
  20. MM Please add my goal---360 minutes (3 times a week for 30 minutes) thanks
  21. Did everyone notice the TICKER MOVED!!!!! HEY, HEY, HEY!!!!
  22. Welcome Bandanna.... Is that a "former" or "future" picture of you on you aviatar? It's difficult to see, but it looks like a female bodybuilder... Anyway....welcome!!!
  23. Nina---PICK YOURSELF UP!!! We all fall...but it's the getting up that's important. We need you on this board...so I'm praying for ya!!! Toni--Don't pitch the "fake bullet".....I went out and bought one after reading your post. I plan on using it when I can go to "real food" in the beginning. The first thing I'm going to make in it is crab salad and then chicken salad.....For my Protein shakes I use a single serving blender that I bought at Wal-Mart. It's by Hamilton Beach $15.88. It's terrific. I put frozen fruit in with the protein and milk and it has never failed to blend perfectly smooth shakes (with no chuncks) I have set an exercise goal for myself--I HATE EXERCISE--IF THERE'S A STRONGER WORD FOR HATE--TELL ME!! However, I am committed to walking 3X a week for 30 minutes. I don't want to set myself up for failure so I think that 3 times if attainable. Today, I was soooo tired of plain broth--I went to the chinese restaurant and ordered wonton soup--hold the wontongs...the broth was to die for!! I also ordered egg drop soup. I'm not suppose to go to creamy soup until Monday, but it's close enough!! I can't wait until Monday--I get to eat grits, mashed potatoes and creamy soups!!! WOW Doesn't sound like much--but after 2 weeks of jell-o, pudding and broth--it sounds GREAT Blessings to all!!
  24. Toni--I want the gory details!!! Also what type of shakes do you use? I need to get one that I can "love". I purchased a humungous bad of EAS vanilla from Sam's--it's pretty good. Hotty--Like your aviator picture!!! I'm not brave enough to put my real picture up yet!! Suzzie--Please go to the doctor and see about the pain!! I know that everyone is different. I was banded on the Mon. 18th and was up driving, moving and shaking by Thursday. Sounds like you might need to see a doc. Danbo--GLAD to see our "male" bandster is doing well!!! Congrats on the weight loss To all who were banded prior to the 18th--THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. You have made this journey so easy and comforting for me. I know what to expect because of your faithful postings. The encouragement is great!! Kland--Are you being filled at AIGB or Surgery Center of Richardson?
