  1. I am feeling confident with this fill. I think I could probably take a little more, but I don't think I'm going to chance it. We'll see what the scale says when I go in next month!

  2. I was banded 7/23/10 and had my first fill about 6 weeks later adding 4cc's to an 11cc band. At first I could feel a very small amount of restriction but that quickly subsided. Four weeks later I had another 2cc's added and again had some restriction that lasted only about a week. My third fill I had another 2cc's added and that gave me the most restriction I had had at that point. It seemed to last a little longer than the others, but I just didn't feel I was quite to my "sweet spot". Today I had my fourth fill of .5cc's. I am hopeful that this will be the one to reach that point. Good luck on this journey!
  3. Try increasing your Fiber. You can get the mixes that go in your Water. This will help to bulk up your stool again. Good Luck!
  4. I also have been struggling to get in enough Protein for the day. I have found that if I add powdered milk to anything that is milk based or Peanut Butter to my shakes I am able to up my protein a little more. Good Luck!

    Full Liquid Diet!

One thing that I discovered during my full liquid stage that I actually liked and am still doing it daily in the pureed food stage is sugar-free carnation instant Breakfast (chocolate), 2 tbsp Peanut Butter, milk and ice well blended. It doesn't have the nasty after taste/smell of some of the Protein shakes and it keeps me satisfied for quite a while. Good Luck!

    Not Losing

If you don't have any Fluid in your band yet, you probably won't lose much at all. I lost 11 pounds in my first week and my practitioner told me that until I had some restriction I really wouldn't see much more weight loss. Keep your chin up and you WILL get there!
  7. I was banded on July 23rd and I was supposed to do day 1-2 Clear Liquids, 3-7 full liquids, week 2 pureed, week 3-4 soft mechanical and 5+ weeks modified regular diet. Calorie intake is not supposed to be an issue until after I have my first fill (8/27) because once all of the swelling is down, I have no restriction in my band. I followed the clear/full liquids religiously, but only did 1 day of the pureed. I figured that if I took small enough bites and chewed them well enough it was the same thing as pureed and I'm not limited to Soups and baby food! I went in for my 1 week post-op yesterday and I am down 17 pounds since my pre-op visit. I was told to expect my weight loss to slow down until my fill and not to be surprised if I gain a pound or two back. Until I get some restriction the weight loss won't really progress. I hope that is the information that you are looking for and best of luck to you!
  8. I was banded one week ago tomorrow and I am feeling great. I go in for my post-op appointment tomorrow and I will then be able to eat pureed foods. My question is, how long after surgery did you have your first fill? How much do they fill each time? How long do you go between each fill? My insurance will only pay for fills done within 90-days of surgery and after that it will be $250 out of my pocket for each fill. I know everyone's surgeon does it a little different than the next, but I would like some ideas of how it will go for me. (If it helps, I was banded at WLSC/Overland Park, KS.) Thanks!
  9. I was banded on July 23rd and today I am starting full liquids. I would like some protein suggests to help get me through this. I have been using the protein shakes pre-banding but I really dislike the taste of them. Is there something out there that is unflavored that can be added to anything that I can buy locally (i.e. GNC, health food stores, etc)?
  10. I was banded on July 23rd and was told that I could not have gum until I had been cleared by my doctor. I don't know if this is in case of accidentally swallowing it or what. I would LOVE to chew a piece though because it would take away that incredible desire that I already have to chew. I am ready to start full liquids tomorrow so I hope that will help some. As far as the liquid Protein tubes at WalMart, I tried one and it wasn't too bad. I didn't think it was as satisfying as I had hoped. It smelled and tasted like Jello Water. Good Luck!
  11. I am a little apprehensive about telling my co-workers about my surgery that is scheduled for July 2nd. I work in an industry where fitness and health are very prominent. It is VERY obvious that I have a weight issue, but my issues don't ever come up in conversation. I know that a few of the people that I work with look down on any type of weight loss surgery, but I really want their support. I know I shouldn't care what they think, but I do! Any suggestions how I can tell them and get their full support?:smile2:
