December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
Good luck, Vicky!!! Update us as soon as you're able. I'm officially less than a week away. I'm starting to not be able to sleep at night, lol. Worse than a kid at Christmas.

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
Yesterday was my final appt before surgery. All my blood work and tests came back good so I'm ready to go. AAAAAAAND I don't have to do a pre-op diet. WOOT. My surgeon (Dr. Chua, he's amazingggg) doesn't believe in them. I also have a pretty awesome post-op. I only have to do clear liquids the day of and after surgery. After that I can move on to puddings and soups and stuff. I'm super excited, next Wednesday is the day!!!!

Great guy.
funny!!! I get my band on the 8th so I'm not in the thick of it yet, but my boyfriend has been pretty supportive of me as well. We ended up getting a Water cooler/dispenser because the water we have is FOUL out of the faucet. We both cut out the soda; this is huuuuuge for Eric [b/f] because he seriously could kill a 12-pack a day of soda. Something as simple as that comes off as extremely supportive to me because it's not in the house and isn't a temptation. That's all I have for now. We'll see when I'm eating half a cup of pureed chicken and he's eating pizza how I feel about him.

What Age Were You When You Got The Lap Band Surgery?
LOL! I can picture that. I had my gallbladder out last year and had 4 stabby looking wounds. I'm sure I'll be adding a few more. Well good luck, we'll have to check on each other from time to time!!

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
I'm going to throw this out there, incase anyone digs the Starbucks iced green tea latte's like I do. Granted, I haven't had to start the protein drinks yet...but I've been testing running a couple so I'm not drinking poop flavored liquid for a week. I went on Amazon and got a lb bag of matcha powder (the stuff that makes the green tea; green tea). Hokay, so I mix about a 1/5 cup of that with some Splenda in a 20 oz tumbler with no-fat milk. Then I take my scoop of Any-Whey flavorless protein powder and mix it into oblivion. I have to say, it's not IDENTICAL to the starbucks latte, but it's pretty damn close. The only calories in it are from the sweetner, milk and protein. It's pretty darn low too. I've read a lot of people hating the flavor of the protein drinks by the end of things, so I figured I'd share that.

The First 48 (hours post-op)
Mine will be an outpatient procedure........ Also, jedivy, I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I've read a lot of stories similar to yours in the first few days post-op. Keep up the hard work though, I'm sure there's a light at the end of the tunnel. :hugs:

Lap band or continue WW after 1 year
I wouldn't agree with this at all. I was VERY successful with WW. I lost over 100lbs. I kept it off for over 2 years. THATS the problem, people who get the band CAN lose weight, they usually can't keep the weight off. Sandra, WW isn't going to make or break you. In fact I find it kind of lame your insurance makes you do a year of it to even be considered for bariatric surgery. If you believe that you will do fine on WW (which you've said you've done 2 times before) and not have to struggle to TAKE the weight off and then KEEP the weight off, then only do WW. If you know for yourself that that isn't going to happen, consider the band then. If we all could lose weight with WW most of us wouldn't need the band....that's my opinion.

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
I go tomorrow morning to the dietitian. I haven't heard anything about a pre-op diet either. Unless she'll tell me tomorrow. When I met with the surgeon a couple weeks ago, he didn't tell me to change anything. Weird. I've also had all my testing done last Friday, so maybe the dietitian will tell me to do a diet tomorrow.

Would having a fIll on 11/23 ruin Thanksgiving???
I would go ahead and get the fill when you can. I'm partial though because I'm not a huge fan of the Thanksgiving dinner (sucks having a birthday in late November and always having turkey and pumpkin pie for your bday dinner, lol).

Bodybugg users report here!
Funny!! I was just looking for this thread to say I purchased one. I'm being proactive. Getting banded on the 8th and hopefully will have my bugg before that. I got the one that is compatible with the Android phones. It was $219 and it's $10 a month. Or only $50 for 6 months, or $80 for 12 if you buy them months in bulk. It comes with 6 months free though. :blushing:

Women with pcos and lap band
I know there's a sub forum here for women with PCOS but it's pretty quiet. If I was helpful at all, I would have grabbed the link to it before posting..but I didn't. :blushing: I've heard that a lot of women with PCOS, once they drop some weight, have better luck conceiving. It happened to me on one of my 100lb losses before.

What birth control should I use?
Nuva ring here too. Even though I take my thyroid pills every morning I'm scared poopless about missing a BC pill for whatever reason. I've had really no issues with it. I too have a reminder on my phone and on my calendar in the kitchen. The only thing I would say if you're thinking about doing the Nuva ring is make sure you store them in the fridge. My friend's brother now has a baby because his girlfriend didn't store her's in the fridge. Yeah....

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
I'm the 8th too!!! lol. I go on the 19th to have all my pre-op testing done and I meet with the nutritionist that day. I haven't heard anything about a pre-op diet yet though. Guess I'll find out that Friday

Christmas Challenge
I won't be banded until the 8th of December, but I would love to get in on this. I'd like to lose 10lbs by the end of the challenge. (I'm setting the bar low for me as I have a really bad problem with beating myself up if I don't get to where I wanted to be, lol.) good luck everyone!
