  1. Newbie, Different MDs have different 'rules'. Some docs advocate 3 meals a day only. My doc is a big believer in small frequent meals. Let's support each other here instead of belittling. Best of luck to us all! Annie
  2. My EKG was abnormal. I had a nuclear stress test and I am just fine. It did not delay my surgery.
  3. Hello All, I was banded in early July. I've had four fills with fluoro. Each time I go in my band is 'wide open' and after the fill it appears that I have appropriate restriction. I have 2 days of liquids and 2 days of soft food and then it's as though I've never had a fill. The last 2 fills we have checked the band volume and found it significantly less than it should have been. Tomorrow I'm going in for a port revision to try to get this band working. It's very frustrating that I've wasted 4 of my fills on a leaking band, but I'm ready, really ready, to get some restriction and get this thing working for me. Anyone else have this experience?:blushing:
  4. Count me in among the nursing crowd! I am a clinical educator in ICU / progressive care / acute care here in NC. Betsy, I agree with your point. I have always taken better care of everyone in my life than I have of myself. Now, it's time to focus on my health!
  5. The CDC recommends them for virtually all people and there is no predicted shortage this year. Most people infected with the flu virus are contagious for a full 24 hrs before they develop symptoms, so flu spreads quickly. The only way for us to protect our families, friends, co-workers, and communities is to encourage vaccinations for all. The flu vaccine is formulated with killed virus and cannot cause the flu. So that is my long answer to the question......Yes, I have already gotten my vaccination.
  6. You got lots of IV fluid during your surgery and hospital stay. Using the old rule of thumb that 1 pint = 1 pound, it would only take 3 liters of fluid to give you that 6# gain. You'll lose that fluid over the next several days. Just concentrate on healing. The weight loss will come!
  7. Do you have a GNC store near you? They carry a ready-to-drink clear Protein called Isopure. One bottle = 40gm of protein. My doctor's instructions were to have one bottle / day during the clear liquid week post-op. You will see that many of us have different dietary 'rules' for post-op. It is important that you follow your MD's directions. If you don't think you can hold out, please call the office and see if they have suggestions or will give you the go ahead to advance. Best wishes!
