  1. It took 8 months!! My surgery date is 7-19-07!!!:clap2:
  2. OMG we could be twins!! I am scheduled for July 19th also and am FREAKING out too!! LOL!! I just keep thinking of the huge % of people who LOVE their band and feel that it was the right choice. I also look at the inspirational before and after thread and it calms my nerves. Good Luck!!!
  3. Aww thanks, I thought it would never get here and now it's two weeks away!!:faint: I am starting to get really anxious, but very excited!!
  4. Hi everyone!! I am so excited!! Got my surgery date:D It will be July 19!!! Boy there sure seems to be alot of July bansters!!:clap2:
  5. Thanks, you too!! Oh also, the psych appt was very easy. I just sat down on his sofa and he asked me questions like How long have I been overweight? Why do I want to lose weight? Wanted me to realise that relationships with friends and family might change and said something very interesting...he said that I have a better chance at succeeding because of a history of when I am sad, I don't care about food. compared to people who eat when their happy. I'm still trying to figure out the reasoning behind his statement. But hey, it sounds great!!
  6. I went to the dietician last week and she spent an hour teaching me about the band and giving helpful tips about what to drink and eat with each stage after surgery. She was awsome and I learned a lot. I have two more visits scheduled with her after surgery. It was really a training session to get you ready for life with the band. Good Luck!!
  7. Hi, I had to complete the six months of healthy roads telephone coaching. For me it was a half hour once a week. The coach just asked how you did with diet and excercise the previous week. A big waste of time if you ask me. If you think about it, it was only two hours a month for SIX months.
  8. And now my ins is playing a special little game with me called..."we never got a referral request from your PCP" My response is, "well, I saw her fax it to you three times" HMO ins response was..."have her try it again" Bub bye:) This has been holding me back for 2 weeks now..waaaaaaaa.... All this just for one visit with a nutrition consult.

Start tanning for just a few minutes at a time. Each time you go, add a few more minutes. That way you will have less chance of getting burned. I am a tanner from way back, but have stayed away since I gained so much weight these past 12 years. After I lose the weight and feel more comfortable going to the beach or wearing shorts, I will go to the tanning salon for a few sessions to get a base tan. They also sell lotions and stuff at the salon. You might like it. I find it very relaxing. Happy Tanning Laurend:)
  10. Miso Soup!!! My favorite..things are looking up now:)
  11. I just went through the 6 month mandatory(Ins)diet coaching thing. I was a waste of time for me because I was never going to say ..."oh forget it, I'm not waiting 6 months"...and the only two things that I learned was how good olive oil was for you instead of butter, and learning to drink more water. I never lost weight in these past 6 months. I am just so glad that it is over now. It was a telephone coaching program and I never got to meet my coach face to face.
  12. I just tried a 35gm protein shake in a can for the first time today. I found it at Trader Joes and the company was Worldwide. Chocolate flavored. Yucky poo poo!!!!:eek:cough cough.... Do most protein shakes in a can have that weird underlying flavor? I have not been banded yet, possibly at the end of June or beginning of July, so I am trying out stuff now so I will know what to get when the time comes.
  13. If I were you, I would get a second or third opinion. If Lap band is what you really wanted and are so scared of the other types of surgery(rightfully so), then it would be a good idea to talk to a few other surgeons and see what they recommend. I wish you well. :myscared:
  14. My six months are up and now the Ins wants my doctor to resubmit for referrals to the psych and Diet guru. My doctor tried to submit a few weeks before I graduated from the 6 month diet program, but they are sticklers and will not do anything before I have finished the next hoop. Basically, they are refusing me to jump through two hoops at the same time :rolleyes
  15. I think I will give a call, so I don't fall through the cracks
  16. Me either. Where are the journals? How to we get to them:)
  17. I have Pacificare HMO and I hear that it take a very long time to schedule the psych and nutritionist appts. They are just making me wait.:rolleyes
  18. Nope they did'nt. I have one more week left(of 6 month diet program) and my ins will not approve psych or surg consult until I finish my full 6 months.
  19. Do you think that since I have one more month to go on my six month supervised diet before surgery, that my ins will let me go ahead and get the referral for the psych and nutrition appts now?

Well, that was the last time I will ever talk to my nutrition coach Katie. I will miss her. She left Healthy Roads to continue her education. She has a new nutrition coach for me and I will meet her next Wed on April 18th. The six months of nutritional counseling is almost over and then my Ins will hopefull approve my surgery!! Yaaaayyyy!!:clap2: I should be done with all of this nonsense by May 30th!!

  22. My only requirement before meeting my surgeon for a consult is to meet with a nutritional coach by phone for 6 months. I am almost there. It is all done by the phone and I talk to her once a week on Wed. Well I have about 1 month and 3 weeks left. I have not lost a pound. Is this going to hurt my chances of getting the lapband Surgery? My weight is 240 with very high cholesterol and borderline diabetes. My BMI is alittle over 40 I have Pacificare HMO Value Plus through Northridge medical group. Anyone have some advice? Do they want me to loose weight and then say "no" to the surgery...or will they see that I did'nt lose and kick me out by saying I did'nt take the 6 months of nutritional class seriously? I am alittle confused here...Please help:)
