  1. Well guys I was banded Wednesday the 8th so I'm 2days post-op and doing ok. Still some discomfort but no pain meds today yet. Trying to drink my protein and have had a little apple juice and couple sips of peppermint tea. Can't drink much have gas discomfort and the nerve pain in my left shoulder not excruciating but bothersome at times. Good luck to all you that have dates coming up and to those who are playing the waiting game this was my 3rd surgery in 5 months but I'm glad I persevered down about 24 from weight pre-op diet.
  2. I have a surgery date of September 8th, this is my third date. After getting the first one I had a gallbladder attack and had to have that removed and then about a month later went in for my lapband surgery but they found a small benigh tumor in the spot the band would have been placed. They removed the tumor and now finally a date...3rd times the charm.
  3. I started a blog as well and I have a few followers but I would have done it anyway for the accountability.
  4. Well I went into be banded on the 9th besides trouble with my iv (always) everything seemed to go smoothly I woke in recovery thinking wow I did it. My mom and sis came in saying something about too bad he couldn't put the band in...excuse me what? Turns out that when surgeon got in there he found a hernia (routine) but also a tumor on my stomach where the band would sit, he removed it and sutured my tummy but you can't put a band on top of a suture. Because of my age and the way the growth looks he says he doubts it was malignant but we should know in a couple days. So in a couple weeks he should be able to put band on...so now I am up to 2 surgeries in the last month (gallbladder and now this) and still don't have my band, but I am more determined than ever.
  5. I am thankfully on the last day of my pre-op surgery tomorrow YAY! I think my first 2-3 days were the worst and then i got alot better, I was blessed to be able to eat 1 no carb meal a day so I know yours is worse. But on the upside I have lost 20+ lbs in the 12 days I've been on the diet....scale motivation
  6. My surgeon told me that the shoulder is more cause by nerves than gas because of the way your diaphragm has to be pushed up during the surgery, he says some people get it and some people don't. I will find out on Tuesday lol.
  7. I'm blogging I've been so inspired by blogs I figured I would throw my hat into the ring. I am scheduled to be banded on 6/9th.
  8. I live in Tampa and I am being banded on 6/9 at UCH also by Dr. Dietrick, it is good to see some local bandsters. I am on day 6 of my pre-op although it is not easy it is not as bad as I thought, I keep trying to focus on the fact that it won't last forever.
  9. June 9th seems to be a popular band day...let's make sure to check back in here after the surgery to see how we are all doing. I'm scheduled 6/9 at 730am at UCH in Tampa.
  10. Well wishes for the June 1st bandsters, I can't wait until the 9th comes.
  11. I am on day 4 on my pre-op diet and I survived my first restaurant visit while on the pre-op and I am proud of myself. I ordered a turkey burger no bread and instead of fries I order steamed broccoli and surprisingly I was satisfied which would have never been the case pre diet. The only cheating I have done is I will occasionally eat a baby dill pickle for the crunch but I am going to cut that out. I was tempted to snatch one fry since everyone at the table had them (restaurant gives u endless fries) but I don't want to open that door.
  12. My surgery is scheduled for June 9th, by Dr. John Dietrick and University Community Hospital in Tampa. Im a little nervous but after going through gallbladder surgery 5/12 with the same surgeon I am less so.
  13. I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet and I must say it is not as bad as I thought it would be, although I am allowed one meal a day as long it has no carbs.
  14. I think it's mostly a mind game with me, so I drank a half cup of decaf with some Splenda and was fine. Thanks for the heads up
  15. I have you beat Carol, I was original scheduled for banding on 5/24 but ended up having to have gallbladder surgery on 5/12 and now getting banded on 6/9...soooo 2 surgeries 30 days.
  16. I'm on day one of pre-op diet and I know the first couple of days will be the hardest, I just want some coffee right now...why is caffeine not allowed, does anyone know?
  17. Hello all, My date is June 9th and I am very anxious, I have my final pre-op meeting on 5/25. I was originally scheduled for 5/24 but ended up having to have my gallbladder removed on 5/12. I have been reading blogs and being inspired...I am absolutely going to do what it takes to make this work for me.
