  1. Was banded on 3/21 and the last couple of days I started having a couple small cups of black coffee each morning it's nice.
  2. That's my story too. I was banded on 3/21/11 and they repaired a hernia while in there. I've had horrible shoulder pain! I am trying the heating pad now.
  3. I was just banded yesterday and when I got back from the hospital I put on 4 lbs?? All I have had is broth, Water, Proteinex, Jello, popsicle, that's it. I don't understand this whole 6 weeks of healing I see on this post, how can we not lose weight when all we are on is liquids? Can someone explain to me why this happens?? Thanks, Newbie
  4. No blockages!! Onward toward the 21st for surgery date! Thanks!!
  5. I did a EKG, Echo Cardiogram, then I just did a PET Stress test yesterday. The cardiologists said the PET Stress "May" have shown some blockage. Now I have a Cardiac Cath on Monday. I hope they do not find anything and that it does not delay my surgery. Scheduled for 21st!! Keep your fingers crossed.
  6. Lap Band can be covered under FMLA. It depends on the reason used for the surgery. FMLA does not apply to very small companies though.
  7. I have my last 6 month nutritional counseling appointment tomorrow. I have all my paperwork ready to go and expect surgery in March sometime. I have one simple question, (kind of) :-) What is life like after surgery, or how does the band work? I don't mean the first month or so when the diet is very restrictive but one year or years after. Is it just that you aren't as hungry as before or that you don't want to eat because it is uncomfortable. I am having a hard time trying to grasp what life (eating) is like with the band. Any experiences you can share would be great. Thanks !!
  8. I am a newbie here, lots of great info thanks. I have cigna, I started my 6 months of nutrition counsel teo months a go, my BMI was about 37-38 in the two months I put on about ten lbs, the nutritionist says that it won't bear well if I gain weight during the six months of eval. I don't want to disqualify myself. I do have co morbidities, HBP. Will the small weight gain make me lose my insurance coverage? Thanks for the help
  9. Katy Your answer was very helpful and inspirational. Thank you and good luck on your journey! Mike
  10. I am about 5 months away from surgery, if I do it. I am about 40 BMI and the biggest question I have is what is life like after the surgery? Not so much immediately after but when you settle into life for years later, do you miss food, are you hungry, do people notice how you eat, those types of things... Thanks any input is helpful
