  1. Try the Protein shakes for one meal a day, make sure you are getting enough protein each day I drink the GNC Amp with 40 grams. Also walk, walk, walk. Take several short walks at first and build up to a mile or more for each walk. I only HAD to lose 15 pounds, but have lost 60 so far, my surgery is Sept 20. You can do it just keep positive.
  2. I have Aetna and it took about 3 weeks total to get my approval, they requested add'l information from my surgeon so that added about a week.
  3. You also want to ask what type of vitamins you should be taking and also the amount of protien you need during each stage after your surgery.
  4. September bandsters - Good luck to all of you. I have my date Sept 20. I can't believe it really going to happen. Now if I can just avoid the Last Supper Syndrome I should be ok.
  5. You also need to realize that because it is a surgery he is worried, my husband asked me to really think about the risk before I made my final commentment. Got my Date Sept 20. He now supports me fully.
  6. Also try Isopure, it comes pre mixed with 42g of Protein, they come in all the fruity flavors if you like those better than a chaukly powder type. The GNC brand though is very good.
  7. I also am having doubts, but I look at it this way, I have lost and gained weight by entire life, the Band will be a life long tool, that will remind me daily that I need to eat right and excercise. It will remind me NOT to slip back into bad habits that got me to the point on needing the band in the first place.
  8. Not sure how our surgeon outlines his pre-op but plan on starting your diet now. Why wait, remember the band is not a quick fix, nor does it stop what you put in your mouth. I started my diet the day first day I went to my surgeon, he said I had to lose 15 pounds to have the surgery. (His requirement is that all of his patience lose weight pre-op). I have lost 50 pounds so far, my paperwork just went to the insurance for approval so I will find out in the next few weeks, if I have approval. But the point to this is start now, limit the calories and fat you eat so that once you have the band you won't crave these foods as much. Good Luck
