Need some insight...
I may be totally off base here, but it seems you started with a lower starting weight than many of us. Generally people who weigh more are able to lose faster...is it possible that could be the case for you? Just throwing it out there

How will this be different?
Well now my husband is giving me the silent treatment. If I bring up the surgery he'll give me a one-word answer, or say "Do we really have to talk about this?" I'm going to ask him tonight if he plans to be supportive when he goes with me. If not, I have a friend who has offered and will take her instead. She's been supportive through this whole thing and knows what I"m going through. I'd rather have someone there to support my decision, not make me feel worse than I already will with 5 holes in my body

What will be your fave post sleeve workout you can't do right now?
I just look forward to comfortably walking around the neighborhood

Hehe. My sleep study is tonight....
I've had 2 different ones. If anything, they're good for a photo op with all the goofy sensors hooked up to you

How will this be different?
Well, pre-op test is done. The funds are in my bank account. Now I just have to have my surgeon look everything over and make sure there isn't anything weird on my tests (God forbid!) and I'll be having a phone call with him next week Wednesday to go over all the final details. Assuming everything is a go, my surgery will be 5/22. Wow. I am so looking forward to my new life. I've been sick and sad for too long, and I"m ready to be happy again!

Clothes
The nice thing is that Goodwill usually has WAY more small clothes than big clothes. People are way more likely to donate clothes they grew out of than clothes they shrunk out of

How will this be different?
I had my PCP's nurse schedule all the pre-op stuff and she did my EKG, so she knows exactly what's going on. She was really sweet and supportive, and told me how she wishes she could do it too since she has had a lifelong weight problem. I suppose that's why she was so amazingly accomodating when I told her why I needed all these tests

How will this be different?
I'm getting all my pre-op testing (chest x-ray, EKG, blood tests, etc.) done this afternoon. I'm *tentatively* scheduled for surgery on 5/22 (assuming I can get all my tests cleared before then). I am over the mooooooon!

Yeah, Texas seems to be the hot-spot for bariatric surgery!

string cheese
I love string cheese, but I am so picky about it! Some kinds are almost waxy, and that grosses me out.

Right now I'm thinking Dr. Borland in Louisiana. Since I'm self-pay, he has a really good price and he has lots of happy customers.

He's on board, and even helping me find hotels ! We just gotta figure out how we're going to pay for the plane tickets and hotel. (this is all assuming I'm a candidate for the surgery, of course!)

Am I A Success or Failure?
I think a lot of us with weight problems have addictive personalities. If it's not food we go to for comfort, it's something else. Sometimes it can be healthy like drugs or alcohol, and sometimes people are able to transfer to a healthy addiction like exercise. I definitely think you should speak with an addiction therapist that can help you figure things out. I think we can all relate to how you're feeling.

Bad Experience...
Reminds me of a clinic I went to once where I had bloodwork done, and the "lab" was just a tiny room full of storage and cardboard boxes. I couldn't believe it. It gave me the creeps so bad, I never went back there again. I think you gotta go with your gut, and if the place gave you the willies you need to find a place you're comfortable with

I was wondering that, too! That is startling!

At goal...now what?
That's the biggest thing I "fear" when I get down to goal eventually, is the transition to "normal" life afterwards. Seems like a bizarre thing to fear, but not for us with food addictions!
