mushies
So my doc was pretty vague on what I can eat now. I got creamy soup, cream of wheat and mashed potatoes. Can I eat canned brown beans, refired beans etc...? I am 11 days post op.

Ice Cream
Trust me i would have rathered Subway or something more healthy, but I am still on my liquid diet and my options are pretty small. I was going to grab a soup at Subway...but they had none left. Should be more prepared from home next time. I thought ice milk would be the best bet, but I guess I was wrong!!

Ice Cream
I am 11 days post op, and today I was hungry and needed a snack or lunch (as I was running in meetings all day). I had a lrge flurry from MacDonalds, but with no toppings just soft serve. It is high in calories (like 400), but has decent protein 16grams. It is all I have eaten today, do you think this is a big no-no? I feel guilty!!

Potatoes and creamy soup
Ok so yesterday was my first day for some mushy foods. I am now 9 days post op, and I had some instant mashed potatoes (made with skim milk and one tablespoon of Olivenia margerine). I ate about 1/2 a cup and on top I put low fat cream of mushroom soup. I see a lot of people on here say to stay away from potatoes as they are fattening, but if that is the only solid I have in a day and eat half a cup (140 cal) and some mushroom soup (200 cal), should this not be okay? I had a Boost high protein for breakfast. I am still having a hard time getting 60g of protein a day. I might be around 40-45grams a day!!

Slippage and Erosion
I am on my liquid diet for 2 weeks after surgery. I am looking forward to something decent to eat besides a crappy shake. I almost caved last night to a small pudding, but it is not on my approved list. I licked the spoon, it tasted great, and then thought to myself....what was I doing. Even though some people are okay with pudding this soon after surgery, I did not want to chance it, and wanted to make sure I follow the doctors directions to as "T"!!

Slippage and Erosion
I certainly hope you are right. I was just banded last friday and the more I read, the more nervous I get!!

Slippage and Erosion
So I have been reading through a lot of posts and see that slippage and erosion are possibly more commen than I thought. The stats say like 1%....but is it just me or does it seem like 90% of peeople have issues of some sort???

What to do now???
Well I bought some Boost high protein last night and had my first one for breakfast this morning. They are not that great either, but at least did not make me sick. I am chewing sugar free gum like mad and drank one large gatorade this morning and now onto straight water. By the weekend I will be able to eat some mushy foods like cream soups, lentils etc... so I can make it through until then I hope :-)

What to do now???
Well I tired a bit of pudding tonight...it is not on my diet menu but I thought it might be okay if I can hold it down. did buy some high protein boost shakes tonight, and I will see how those go. The thought of the taste of Whey makes me sick. I live in a small town and can not really get anything else for a shake besides what I have.

What to do now???
Well I had my surgery done on Friday. I spent 8 hours on a plane yesterday drinking plenty of water and apple juice to stay hydrated. Today I have had water, juice, skim milk and some broth. I am not getting any good calories or protein at this rate. I cannot stand the thought of another protein shake. It make me sick even thinking about them. I have had nothing but some water and juice for 6 days now and I am down over 20lbs in the past 2 weeks. What can I do. Should I take a liquid vitamin? How do I get some protein in me???

Is this stuff safe??
I was given Supradol (toradol in the USA) to take for pain on my trip home to Canada tomorrow. I have a 6 hour flight and then a 2 hour flight. I have read some negative things about the drug online and that some people get really nauseated and sick from this stuff. I think I would rather sit in pain for 6 hours than spend the whole trip throwing up and risk my band slipping. Any advice out there?

Anyone living in canda?
smilinginside...where did you get your band put in? Where are you having your fills?

Dr.Verboonen in TJ
Hey folks. How did your banding procedures go? I had mine done yesterday with Dr. Verboonen and I have no complaints at all.

Well I Did it...I am banded
Yeah I feel for ya!! I have a 6 hour flight followed by a 2 hour flight tomorrow and then back to work on Tuesday!! Feeling pretty decent though, drinking gatorade and bringing up the gas :-)

Well I Did it...I am banded
Well yesterday was the big day. I got my band. I was almost ready the day before to back out and not have it done...but pushed through. Once I got to the hospital I was a bit nervous, but the staff were awesome. I was banded in Cancun, and must say it has been a great experience. My surgery was at 6:30pm and was awake in recovery by 7:40 and wanted to get up and walk around. Went to my room, watched some tv and went to sleep. Woke up this morning at 7am and took a shower and did some walking around. I am now back at the hotel enjoying the nice warm weather before I catch my flight back to Canada tomorrow!! All is all so far a good experience!!

Isopure Protein Drink
I am currently using the ISo Sensation and it is pretty good. It does leave me feeling full. The flavour I have is Banana. Does not taste like a pizza, but fills the void when hungry :-)

This was weird
I was told by my doctor to have only protein shakes and clear liquids for 12 days pre op. My surgery is on friday. I asked why for example I could not have white fish or tuna as they are high in protein and have NO carbs or fat. Then out of the blue she tells me today I can have it (fish and green veggies) yesterday and today, but back on the pre-op diet 3 days before. Does this seem strange to anyone else that she would change her mind? I did have tuna steak tonight and some jumbo shrimp and last night I had mahi mahi and shrimp...but for some reason felt guilty even though I was told it was okay. She told me pretty much EVERYONE cheats on the pre-op diet, with some eating high carbs etc...!! I ordered a sald tonight but only ate like 1/4 because it had olive oil on it and I knew this would be a no-no!

What was I thinking?
Okay so I planned to spend 5 days in Cancun before my surgery. I arrived today and my surgery is on Friday. I was fine at home with the pre-op diet, but since I have been here for 6 hours...all I can think about is eating...anything. I even emailed my doctor to see if I could have some plain baked whitefish...seeing that it is high in protein and low in calories and fat. Mexican food is my favorite, and I came 5 days ahead on a fully liquid pre-op diet...what was I thinking????

Argh...what to do!!
Thanks for that. I know she will not resent me. I think she is just nervous and scared that I am going to Mexico to have this done and she will not be with me. My sister who is a Nursing student will meet me down in Cancun and be there the whole time. I was just shocked to hear this that was all...especially last minute. She feels like I need to address the emotional issues (I am not sure what they are except eating when I am bored). To me I will need to find something else to fill the void, and if I need to get help I am fully prepared to see a counselor.

Argh...what to do!!
So I leave tomorrow for Mexico and have my surgery done next Friday. I have spent about 4 months reasearching everything on the Lap Band. My wife came out last night and tells me she does not agree with my decision to get this done. She tells me she will support my decision, but thinks I have not tried hard enough to lose it on my own. Over the past 14 years, I have lost 100lbs, 60lbs twice and 50lbs....only to put it all back on. My mother I told tonight and I figured she would be the critical one, but she is very supportive because she has worried about my weight problems for years now. I am kinda disappointed that my wife does not agree with this procedure, and just mentioned it to me a day before I leave!! I think more than anything I just needed to vent. We had our first child in Feb and that is when I made the final decision to go through with this, to get healthly and be there for my son for a very long time!!

This has me a bit concerned
I am having my surgery done next Friday May 21st. My ticket home is booked for May 23rd (2 days later). It is a 5 hour flight and then connect to a 1.5 hour flight to get home. The doctor thinks I will be fine, as I am young (32) and as long as I get up and walk on the plane every hour or so. Does this seem okay? I see some people are talking about whther it is okay to fly for vacation 3 weeks post op!!
