  1. I was banded on 3/31, and had the same problem. The doc suggested I take Aleve (2) 2x per day to help with that. It took me almost an hour to get the shakes in each time, but I got them in. The rest of the time, I drank water or Crystal Light- you have to stay hydrated. It is getting easier to drink and get thicker liquids down, give it a day or two, you will see a difference. Good luck!
  2. I was just banded on 3/31, and will just begin excersize next week, have lost 17 lbs since I started pre-op to today, don't really know what to expect, so I will set my challenge at 10 lbs. I am sure when I hit solid food again in a couple of weeks, I will need a challenge.:smile2:
  3. All I can say is everyone is right..... it will get better!
  4. Oh my God, Palmtreegirl, I am so sorry that happened to you. People of any age can be so terribly cruel. You have to know that you are worth it! You are worth the steps that you are taking to be healthier, even though they may not be so easy. You are a beautiful person, and it's ashame that those kids are already so sick in their minds that they have to sling insults at someone they don't even know, just to make themselves feel better. They were feeling your confidence and power, and it scared them, so they resorted to their own illness. To answer your question, yes, I totally relate. I, too am concerned that I will once again sabatoge myself like I have so many times in my life before. The good thing about this is we are both aware that we are our worst enemy. We have to relax and know that we deserve this positive change, and clear the head of all the negative self-talk that we are so good at. Love yourself! You are doing the best things for it! You can talk to me anytime, if you need someone to lean on. Keep up the good work!
  5. Congrats to you, I am sure your surgery went fine, just let us know how all is going! Remember to walk off the gas pain!
  6. Hi everyone! Yesterday I was banded, and I am sooooo glad to be on this side of the fence...It's exciting! The sx went smooth as silk, I even had hernia repair too! The gas pains are terribly uncomfortable, but I am dealing with it. A little pain is ok, knowing that I get to begin again with life and getting healthy. 2 of my nurses have been banded over 3 years, and they have both lost a tremendous amount of weight, and look fantastic! Walking does amazing things to get rid of the gas, and gas-x strips are great too! Well, I guess that's enough for now, talk to you all soon!
  7. Congrats to all of us banded 3/31, and for all the rest on the 1st and the 2nd. Mine went smooth as silk yesterday, and feels really good that I went through it, and didn't back out. Right now is time for healing, and learning how to eat again. Conratulations!
  8. Good luck to you, I am right there with ya! I am scheduled to be there at 6:30am!
  9. OK folks, so in about 10 hours, it will be my turn! I hope my liver has shrunk enough, and I hope everything goes smoothly. I will be back on here as soon as I can to report in on how things went. Everyone send me good energy and positive thoughts! Thanks for your support!
  10. Having the fear is normal, there are several of us talking about that over in the "overwhelmed" thread. We have all decided that we forge ahead in spite of the fear, and with hope that it will work because it already has for so many! Have faith, do the work, and in time, you will get results!
  11. You know, in-laws can be really crappy, and unfortunately when you marry, you get them too. I have dealt with a similar situation before, and I learned that I don't owe anyone an explanation for what I do with my own body. If they bring it up or make snarky comments, I would simply respond "what I do to or put in my body is my business, shall we change the subject"? As for hubby, he hurt you. Men unfortunately are good at that sometimes. He will not ever understand why you didn't want anyone knowing, so stop trying to convince him. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps, agree to disagree with hubby, try to forgive him for being a ding-bat, and be proud that you are willing to make such a huge committment to fix what 'ails you. We are all proud, so keep Kickin Ass!
  12. Here is our new mantra: no more fear, no more fear, (I can't hear you!)NO MORE FEAR! NO MORE FEAR! I keep telling myself, so I will share with you; "COURAGE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF FEAR, IT IS SIMPLY MOVING FORWARD IN SPITE OF IT" so fear, I tell you.... KISS MY BIG WHITE AS* Have a great Monday everyone!
  13. :smilielol5: Thanks so much guys! Your support means so much. I had no idea I would be so freaked!:cursing: Bring it on!!!!
  14. Congratulations! Thanks for letting us know how you are doing!
  15. The answer is, You are not crazy, actually I have never found anyone that feels EXACTLY like I do! I realize that for some reason I am TERRIFIED to lose weight, and I always sabatoge myself, that is why I HAVE to be banded, otherwise I may kill myself with fat. I have always been obese, I have no idea who I will be without all this weight to hide behind. Lean on your support system, know that you will be loved no matter what size you are, but you have to do this to stay healthy and live a better life. We will always be here for you. If you ever want to email me directly, my email is babykat_allie@yahoo.com!!! Keep going forward!
  16. OK, so it's Sunday, and Wednesday is my day. I am nervous, excited, scared, happy, doubtful, emotional to say the least. I feel like I am running to the edge of a cliff, and not slowing down before I reach the edge. Wow. I really didn't expect to feel like this. I guess it is normal to feel like this. AAAHHHHHH!
  17. Ruthie, be gentle with yourself, and drink, you will be fine! Keep up the good work!
  18. Hey there, I haven't even been banded yet, but have been on "food plans" most of my adult life. Listen to what Brockbabe has to say. Don't let numbers get to you. You have to look at only today, because that is really all we have. We never know what tomorrow holds, let it take care of itself. What have you accomplished so far? 1. You have taken probably one of the biggest steps in your life by getting banded! 2. You have gotten rid of 45+ pounds of weight 3. You have goals, and you are learning a new way of life, something that takes time. 4. You are able to analyze your behavior and habits, and see possible "pitfalls". Holy crap! What an amazing journey you have walked already! Relax, take one day at a time, and enjoy each one! Good for you, and I hope I can do as good as you!
  19. Yikes! I am suprised the dr. would schedule prior to approval. I am crossing my fingers for you!
  20. Wow, it is really weird how each dr. is soooo different on what they want for Pre-op diet. Here is mine: All the "clear" broth I want 1c. canned fruit or 2 small pieces of fresh fruit per day 3 servings per day of: 8oz light yogurt, 1/2 c. cottage cheese, sugar free pudding 2 cups per day of raw veggies 1c. per day of no sugar added juice 2 c. per day of skim milk 2 low-carb shakes per day All the water, sugar-free beverages, and sugar free popsicles that I want. multivitamin and tums each day. I consider myself lucky after reading some of the diets out there.
  21. Hi there! March 31st is my day, so we can learn together! Your doc should give you a step plan for food. If he/she doesn't, let me know and I will send you mine, it's really detailed. Good luck on your banding, and let us know how you are doing!:Banane20:
  22. That explains exactly how I am feeling too, Overwhelmed. I have spent 3 months reading every bad thing out there, I don't want to be blind going in. I know we are all taking a big chance with this surgery, but we are also taking a big chance by staying Obese. Realize that being Obese (my medical chart says MORBIDLY OBESE), we have a disease that is slowly killing us. I don't know about you, but I want to LIVE! I am 38 years old, and not ready to give up yet. My sx date is 3/31/10. Keep in contact with me, and I will tell you everything you want to know, so there are no suprises (as much as possible). Keep your chin up, and look forward to your new birthday!:Banane20:
  23. We are all here for ya Maggie! Next week is my turn, so we can learn together.... You will do great! Just envision how you want life to be, and it will be. That is why we are all doing this!:Banane20:
  24. Ruthie, thanks so much for that info! I can't imagine eating that little amount and being full. Wow. My RN suggested bringin GAS-X "strips" with me on day of surgery and taking one right when I get into recovery to help with the gas thing, so I have already purchased them.:Banane20: Hope we get to talk more as this goes on. Good luck to you!:Banane20:
  25. :redface:Hi everyone. I am new to the board, and I am scheduled for banding on 3/31/10. 3rd day of pre-op diet, already lost 3 pounds. I have never had sx before, never even had a broken bone or stitches! So I am realllllllly nervous about it, but excited at the same time. I am wondering what life will be like?:Banane20:
