  1. Hey all i have a question and i'm curious how you all feel about this. I got the band on 2-3-10 i'm so happy i did. I have lost 18 lbs now. on my follow up visit the dr told me my insurance co aetna will not pay for a fill for 90 days. This brings me to may 3 or whenever after this the dr. can do it. I am doing ok. The band went on empty and there was some restriction the first two weeks probably because of surgery and swelling. I have been mindful of what i eat but i worry that by may i wont be use to eating so little or might do something to compromise the size of pouch since i could eat way more then i am. Has this happened to anyone and do any of you have any advice? i'm still thrilled to have my band but kinda down that i have to wait so long! I have only lost 1 lb since my Feb 23 appt. Thank you for your time

no fill for 90 days your thoughts?

thanks for your reply, yes i was thinking about it i also thought it was a long time. i would at least like to start it even if its always 90 day wait i think its important to start it. thanks mimi!
  4. Hey you do not have to fret on this just be prepared. Here is a little of what i was asked. They asked my weight as i remembered it at 10 years, 5 years and then like 3, 2 1. Asked me the lowest also. I was prepared with all the weight loss plans i tried and failed, they asked how much i lost and how much of it gained back it was like a chart i had to fill out but i wrote down all my attempts EVERYthing even the silliest pill or dumbest diet ever and put it ALL down in its entirety. My BMI and the fact that I had obstructive sleep apnea was a big approval with insurance for me. I think you just need to show how many attempts you made. (its what i had to do) I do know someone who didnt provide that info and had do a 6 month proof that they could not lose weight. Just be prepared. You will go over that on the psych and nutrition visit. I just went thru it last month or so. I was banded 2-3-10 feel free to ask while its fresh in my mind lol i am 52 and sometimes we forget stuff lol :tongue_smilie:

  7. Cheers for you Sandi, What a great story and what an accomplishment. I really want to do that well myself :cool2: I am 52 years old, I was banded on 2-3-10 and my first post op visit was yesterday. I have lost 15lbs and I am thrilled. I am 50lbs away from my smaller goal of 180. I have a concern and was wondering if you had any advice. I have managed the band and the diet fine no problems no getting sick etc. When I saw my dr yesterday i was advised that my insurance company would not approve a fill for 90 days (meaning no fill til 5-3-10)? I was really disappointed in this as the band 11cc is placed empty. I could pay out of pocket but it could be pretty hefty and i would rather not start having to pay for my own fills. The dr said to follow a 2000 calorie diet and i am worried this will lead me to overeat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. He told me to eat regular food and stick to the calorie limit (i think the cal limit is high). I think i have a little restriction in it and i DO NOT intend to over eat what so ever just kinda worried if you know what i mean. I have been following a pattern up to til now. I think restriction will be needed by at least another 30 days. Do you guys think a planned menu is best or just count as i go? i don't know guess I am just a little confused but SO happy i did this! Any advice on meal plans i can follow? I do best with one lol..After all I got the band because it was hard for me to diet and go it alone. Thanks all for their time!:tongue_smilie:

  9. Hey all I was banded on 2-3-10 I am so happy to have had it done. I have a question if anyone has time to advise. Is the band empty at first? i'm on my 15th day im doing good, I don't know if i feel hungry or its just a mind thing but all in all i'm handing it. Is there anything in the band? i go to the doctor Monday for my first visit and i was curious because i really do not want to be hungry i'm living on cottage cheese, soup, farina, skim plus and sugar free fat free pudding. Wondering if im not eating enough in the meals i am having? I have lost 11.5 lbs in the two weeks so far. Today i felt hunger  thanks for your time xox
  10. Hi Kim, I have the same problem the pill is so large even a pill crusher cannot break it. I tried smashing it with a plyer lol and putting it in a little applesauce and got it down for now. I saw an ad on TV for petites, I have not been out to find them yet but ill holler if i do find them. I know the calcium is important so i am worried about getting it in myself. Have a great day.
