    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Below is my progress, but keep up the good work, it may be slow going at times but as long as it goes down its all good.. I'm very excited at my new cholesterol results. I've lost 55lbs to date and feel so much better. My issue use to be finding things in my closet that fit me and i still have the same issue because everything is too big on me. I LOVE IT!:thumbup::thumbup: ................................................Nov 2009......Jun 2010.............Diff Total Cholesterol .............(249)..............(150)...................(-99) Triglycerides .....................(187).................(99).....................(-88) HDL Cholesterol...................(45).................(50)............... ............(5):wink2: LDL Cholesterol ................(187)................(82)..................(-105):smile2:

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I was banded 2/25/2010 and also slowed my weight loss, but then i increased my activities (walking) and it started up again but much slower than the first month. Some days are not easy cause i get very hungry but i also noticed some foods make me feel pretty full without eating much such as Salmon, Crackers and Cheese etc... I encourage you to stay focused and continue to work hard toward your weight goals.
  5. Banded 2/25/2010 :blushing: Ok, I have done my two week liquids and all has gone well... I'm starting week 3 and I noticed I did not have a food plan for week 3, so I call the doctors office. I was told not to start anything new until I have my first post op doctors visit which is next week. This was a problem... I was told don't eat chicken... Too late I ate chicken (Boston Market) I was told don't eat tuna... Too late I ate tuna (Canned) I was told don't eat chili... Too late I ate chili (Wendy's) I did not mean to do these things, but I thought I had a green light for week 3 as long as I was eating soft foods and chewed very well. My observations and experience: Pay attention to what you eat and how you eat it. While eating and being distracted, I ate too fast and got some food stuck (Poor chewing). Eat very slowly at every meal. If you eat too fast you don't allow your body to tell you its full and that's a very important sign to learn. Being too full will also feel like food is stuck. Wait before drinking when you feel full. Depending on what you eat, if you drink it might be painful if the Water is block due to food being processed thru your LAP-BAND®. This is the same pain as food getting stuck. Get your Protein. When your body is lacking protein and you are doing lots of activity, you body can not burn fat as fast as your using it and you will feel tired and listless. Be weary of being comfortable with certain foods. Even if you have eaten something before and all went well, the next time it might not. I had that experience with hard-boiled eggs. One day all went well and the next morning with the same routine all did not go well. Have a healthy respect for what you eat and use some common sense (I speak from experience lol). Understand the difference between cravings and hunger. These are different feelings and I notice that I may still crave things (which is normal) even though I'm not hungry. I have had to learn this and not mix the signals. Everyone is different. What works for some may not work for others such as breads, Pasta etc... Some folks can do salads and some cant, some can do steaks and some cant. You will discover this through trial and error, but don't be scared or discouraged, its just part of the process of re-adjusting your diet. I have come to realize how important food was in my life and today its just a source of nutrition. I admire the folks who took the steps to get the surgery done because it's a life altering event and that take a lot of courage. I have found this forum to be educational, encouraging and very supportive. I'm glad to be part of this group and I will try to give as much as I have received from this forum.

  8. So far my experience has been wonderful!!! My surgery was 2/25/2010 and everything has exceeded my expectations. I'm healing well, my hungry is gone and my weight is going down. I am now like many others, my only regret is that i should have done this sooner. After my surgery my doctor said it was a good thing i got it done, cause my organs had a lot of fat around them which would have led to health issues in the future. Congratulations to all my Bandsters who got it done and posted in this forum because its encouraging to hear all the success stories.:thumbup::thumbup: My Weight Chart: >

    My experience...

Eliminating hunger is one of the key things for success. I would be very interested in what your doctor says. I find myself at times craving something (Pizza) that i love but not hungry for it. I know the liquid diet is tough cause you really don't get to chew anything and i miss that. I guess it's a little psychological.
  10. OK, I'm going in tomorrow (2/25/10) at 7am to get the band. Im only concern is how will i feel if something gets caught due not chewing enough or eating the wrong thing... Wish me luck and I'll continue to post as i embark on this journey.
  11. The insurance companies always say no and try to bully you, but you can appeal it and have it re-reviewed. You need to be persistent and don't take no for an answer.

    Question re Recovery

I just got banded today and i honestly feel i can drive but you will get a speech about driving while on medication. I would say be catreful and if you in anyway feel weak or pain STOP and rest asap. :smile2:
  13. Had my band done today (2/25/2010) I arrived at the Surgery Center by 7am for my 8am procedure. The Surgery Center was great, it was the best IV I have ever had. The feedback from the doctor was that I have a tremendous amount of fat on all my inside organs and doing the Lap-Band® procedure was a smart move, both for my weight and for my future health. The recovery room went smoothly, I was able to sip water right away. I feel no discomfort, and am using my ice pack and pain liquid to stay ahead of any potential pain. The incisions look good, I expect some bruising and swelling, which is normal. I have been doing my deep breathing exercises and walking around at least 5 minutes every hour. All in all, I am thrilled with how smoothly and comfortably this surgery has gone. :smile2:
