  1. I know it is crazy but try moving your calorie intake up to 1200-1300. I was having the same problem and when I did this I started losing again.
  2. Oh my gosh I am crazy with it!! I weigh several times a day and it will set my mood for the whole day. I can change as much as 3 pounds day to day. I have had several people tell me ( my dr included ) to only weigh once a week he would rather I only weigh a couple times a month. It's so hard not to tho, but it will make you CrAzY!!! lol

  4. That's great!!! I' walking in my first one on Oct 3....not sure if I'm ready but gonna try anyways lol
  5. Good Morning! I'm Banded!!!! Went in for a 7:00 surgery and was back to the hotel by 5:00. So far no gas pain ( wow I'm lucky ) but my poor belly sure does hurt. I find it is very hard to get up and down, I've been trying to walk, walk, walk and I even snuck in the shower this morning and just let the hot water run on my back. DH has been so sweet and got up with me several times last night to walk with me ( in case I got dizzy ) Going to try to head home in a little bit. Congats to all my 18th brothers and sisters and to all the AUGUST RUSH!!! I can't wait to become a big loser!!!!
  6. Hey guys! I just got settled into my hotel room, trying to relax a little before surgery tomorrow. I had a great pre-op appt with my surgeon. Down another 6 pounds thanks to my 7 day pre-op diet. My surgery is at 7:30 and I have to be at the hospital at 6. The next time I sign on I will be one of the few...the proud...the BANDED!!!! lol
  7. Good Luck tomorrow Amanda Laurie H and Dee!! ( and anyone else I may have missed ) Hope everything goes great and you guys have a speedy recovery!! Let us know how it went as soon as you feel up to it
  8. ARRRGHHHHHH sorry I just needed to vent a little. I get a phone call from the surgeons office yesterday and the lady was arguing with me about the fact that she had left me messages and I hadn't called her back. Finally I was like ok what can I do for you? So she puts me on hold ( really !!! ) and then comes back and says you owe 200.00 from your first office visit and you are going to have to pay 300.00 up front for your part of the surgery. If you owe more we will have to collect that later. Are you kidding me.....I am 3 days before surgery and this is just now coming up? She was so hateful and then she had the nerve to say so if your not going to be able to meet your obligations.....I said I'll have it when I come in on Tuesday for my pre-op. What a freaking B*tch. sorry but really they have been horrible from day one and I plan on telling the Dr about it ( not that I think he will care ) I will be so glad when Wednesday is here and gone and I don't have to speak with them again. Sorry again I just needed to vent and I think DH is becoming a little weary of all of it
  9. I'm officially 1 week from surgery and I saw the nutrionist today to start my 7 day all liquid diet. I was really worried about it, but I don't think it is going to be all bad. I can make my own shakes using no sugar carnation breakfast, greek yogurt and lots of ice. I can also blend atkins shakes with lots of ice. Like I said not so bad for day one but we'll see how I feel on day 5 lol. I head to Texas on Tues for all the pre-op tests and I guess they will give me my surg time then. I'm really excited but starting to get a little nervous too. Although I have spent two years researching and working on getting the band, I'm starting to wonder if it will really work for me ( I have more of a don't eat enough/right foods than eat too much ) I love to read all the success stories here but I stubled on kind of a " I hate the band " thread the other day and some of the posts really shocked me. I know I have the will power to do what I am supposed to: eat right, exercise, lots of water ect now I wonder will that be enough? Last min jitters......man they suck! lol
  10. Good Luck tomorrow Jen!! You will do great. I can't wait to hear your "surgery day story"
  11. * being able to shop in a regular store ( and having more than one thing to wear "out" ) * being in the pictures instead of just taking them * getting on the rides with my kids instead of watching while my husband rides with them. * not being emberrased to go out * having more energy * running my first 5K ( or at least a light jog lol )
  12. Ok August 6 Bandsters......today is the day!! Hoping everyone going across to bandland a speedy recovery! GOOD LUCK!!! We'll all be thinking of you ( so come back with some great stories!! )
  13. Congrats on your date!! Looks like there is finally someone else who is going on the 18th YAH  We'll have to compare war stories when its over!
  14. That is just how I feel about it. Their poor attitudes have only caused me to be more determined with my band. They are the very reason people feel uncomfortable talking about the band, being banded ect. I really would have changed Dr's if I had had a choice with my insurance ( long story lol ) It's ok I have learned sooo much on this website and feel like I will have all the support I need right here with our August Rush thread :tongue2: Good Luck to all the RUSHERS!!
  15. I know, I just knew they would have a whole packet of " Welcome to your new band" stuff. but nope nothing. Really the staff is horrible! They are very hateful when I call and when I ask about changing my surgery date I was told that it would take her doing a whole bunch with the insurance and I just said that the 18th was fine. I hope I find out more with my nutritionist next week. I guess people just don't understand what it took for all of us to get here. How much we researched, how hard we worked to get everything done to submit to the insurance. Its a huge step and not taken lightly. I would've thought they would be all happy for us or something. Instead I have the office crew from the dark side. lol
  16. I'm officially an August Rush!!! I got a call from the surgeons office today and my surgery and my date is Aug 18th! I went from denied to date in 5 days!! Now that I have a date I'm a little nervous. The office staff at the surgeons office is not very helpful and even though I have done a lot of research, I was really hoping they would give me some information, but that didn't happen. All I was told was I needed to see my nutrionist again to get the pre-op liquid diet and be on it 7-10 days before surg. So it looks 15 days from today I will FINALLY be a BANDSTER!:blushing: 6 month diet 1-10/7-10 Appt with Surg 7-21-10 Denied 7-28-10 Approved 7-29-10 ( wow ) Pre-Op 7-17-10 Surg 8-18-10 start/now/goal 260/242/160
  17. :wub:There may already be a thread going for Sept, but I was not able to find it. I just found out to day that my insurance approved me for the surgery!! YAH! It has been a roller coaster from day one. My surgeon called me on Thursday and told me I had been denied and was going to have to re-do my 6 month physcian wt loss program, but that I could call the insurance and talk to them and that is exactly what I did lol. Come to find out my Dr's office hadn't faxed all of the paperwork to them and since I had copies don't you know I got right on that  Two hours later the APPROVED call came. I have been working on getting the band since Jan and now that I know it may happen I'm a little nervous. I don't have a date yet, my drs office won't sched until they get the ok from the insurance co, and then I was told that I had to do the liquid diet 7-10 days pre-op and see the nutrionist again. ( why do they not tell you this in your appt? ) I am a little upset with the office staff at my surgeons office. They are not friendly at all and in fact can be quite rude. No information and they seem to act like they are doing you a favor by helping you sched your surgery. I keep telling myself just let it go and get this done.... I figure I will be sched in Sept since I have to do the pre-op diet and see the nutritionist again so I thought it would be great to hear from more September peeps and compare notes! Good Luck to all who are about to enter BANDLAND!! Started 260:scared2: Now 242:tongue_smilie: Goal 160:rolleyes: Approved 7-30-10:thumbup:
  18. Has anyone out there heard of or used Dr Zakkhour ( Dallas Regional Medical Center ) in Mesquite Texas?
  19. It may sound simple but when I make my goal wt ( want to lose 80 lbs ) I am going to have a family picture made. ( one where I am not standing in the back hiding behind everyone!

Ok so I go in a week and a half for my second weigh in and I am down 4 lbs!!! Which I know seems like it should be great news but its not!! I am right on the bubble for being at a 40 BMI ( which is what I must be to be approved for surgery ) and if I have it figured out right I can only lose 10lbs in the 6 months or else......no surgery. WTC!! I can't believe I am actually mad because I am losing wt. lol It's a first for me. My DH has decided I might just be crazy with all the ranting I have been doing in the last few days. :tt2: On another note I was sure my Dr was going to have my appts made for me by now but I haven't heard anything from the office. I'm not really sure how long it takes to get in to see a nutritionist or psych or what the appt is all about but I am really ready to check those two things off my list. I'm also hoping that with the kids ball season starting it will help the time pass faster!!!

Ok so this will prob be a long post, but well, I got alot to say. In Jan I decided to call my insurance ( our hospital had rec been bought out ) and see if they covered WLS. I almost ran off the road when I was told they do!!! Of course you had to meet some criteria 1) been overwt for at least 5 years.....check. 2) tried and failed wt loss on my own.....check 3) done a 6 month physician diet ...hmmmm not sure If I actually went once a month for six months. So I go home all excited and tell DH all about it. Then I pick a facility close to home and print off all the information I can find on it. Next day I wake up and think....hmm wonder if this Dr is covered by our insurance ( sure should have thought of that first ) So I go on the web site and of course not but I print a list of Dr's who are covered. There are two about 2 hours from where I live and I spend the next 3 days researching them. So I call the insurance and I am told my insurance states that I have to use one of their hospitals or its no deal. After a very long time on the phone I find out that there is only one anywhere near me ( my hospital is based out of Florida and I live in Oklahoma ) It is in Dallas Tx which is about 5 hours from me. DH says thats fine he doesn't mind. So I get up the nerve and call to sched a consult and they are soooo nice!! :rolleyes2: I talk with the coord who tells me since I live so far away it would be great if I could get all my stuff together before hand and then they will do all the pre-op in one day for me so I won't have to make so many trips down. ok that is all out of the way but now I have to talk to my PCP and see if she is willing to do the 6 month monitor thing for me and help set up all my other appts. ( psych and nutritionist ) She is amazing when I go see her and totally supportive of me getting the band. I'm a little nervous and she says hey if people have high blood pressure don't they take medicine to help. Why should you feel bad about getting the band to help you be healthier? hmmm good question. So now I'm all set. First weigh in out of the way and she will be calling me in a few days to give me my other appts!!! Ok so I think I might really be on my way to BANDLAND!!! lol :cursing:

  25. Ok here is my question. I do not have high blood pressure or diabetes...thank goodness but that means my insurance requires that my BMI be at least a 40. So if I lose wt during my 6 month req physcian wt loss does that mean I wont be okd for surgery?
