    Very Frustrated

I know it is crazy but try moving your calorie intake up to 1200-1300. I was having the same problem and when I did this I started losing again.

    August Rush in bandland!

I do have a smartphone and that is a great idea!! I think having the app will help and I have really gotten addicted to logging things so I can keep track.
  3. Oh my gosh I am crazy with it!! I weigh several times a day and it will set my mood for the whole day. I can change as much as 3 pounds day to day. I have had several people tell me ( my dr included ) to only weigh once a week he would rather I only weigh a couple times a month. It's so hard not to tho, but it will make you CrAzY!!! lol

    August Rush in bandland!

Thank you!!! It really helps to know that I am not the only one who is going through some of this stuff. I am going to take your advise and try to add one thing at a time and give myself two weeks to get it going good before adding something else. Like diet issues, then workout issues. I think it will make it easier than trying to do it all at once. I don't think it will be a big deal to give up the sodas I don't drink it very often anyways, but my other problem is that I just don't drink enought. I find that I have gone hours with nothing and I'm not really thirsty. I know this is a big hold up on weight loss. Good Luck to you too!!! I look forward to following your progress!!!

    August Rush in bandland!

I have not been on in forever. I have been very upset that I am not where I wanted to be. I want to feel sorry for myself, but then I just sat down one day and took a hard look at where I was, where I am, and where I want to be. I started at 260 pounds. I am 5'5, 33 and mother of two. I was banded in Aug of 2010 ( omg has it been a year and a half??? ) I now weigh between 214-216 so that puts me down 44-46 pounds. My goal was to lose 70-80 so I am half-way there. After talking to my doctor he says that this is really good for the first year. ( I don't feel that way ) Now here is where is that talking to myself came in. I am upset about not losing more but I have not done one single thing to try and help this band work! I'm a nurse and KNOW what I have to do. Exercise, eat better, NO SODAS!!! I do good for a day or two.....heck maybe even a week, but it is alway an either or situation. I'm eating good and no exercise or I'm exercising and not eating right. :/ So I have decided to check in once a week here because I know if I am screwing up I will hear about it. Even if I don't check in and look it is going to update my phone and I will know that someone is telling me to get off my lazy butt and do something!!! LOL I know it seems silly but I really think it is going to help. I see how great the site is and our group has always been wonderful!!! Now I want to be one of those wonderful people My goal is to lose 8 lbs a month ( set by the Dr.) and my new years goal was to compete in a 5K with my best friend this year. I mean run, not walk hahahaha I have went from a 24 to 16-18 and I can't tell you how amazing that has been!!! As I said I am a nurse and was wearing a 3xl scrub.......I have been in a job where I didn't wear scrubs for about 6 months and when I tried some on the other day they were all too big!!! I found that I could wear my XL "goal scrubs" AND have room in them. I cried!! Sorry this is so long I guess I just had a lot to get off my chest Good Luck to everyone!!!!

    August Rush in bandland!

Hello everyone When I was getting ready for my surgery almost a year ago, I was on this site for hours at a time. I was so excited and couldn't wait to come on and track my weight loss. Sadly I haven't had any to track. I started at 260 and was 238 on my surgery date. I am currently bouncing back and forth between 219 and 222. I have went down several sizes in clothes and can even sometimes shop in the " regular " sizes. I have had a couple of fills and really want another but I am too ashamed to go back without any weight loss. I am not following any diet ( I know I should be ) I keep bouncing back and forth between weight watchers and adkins. uggh I can eat what I want but I do have some problems in the morning and have to be careful then. I have been working out with my bestie at least 4 days a week and we were also walking 3 miles a day util the heat took over here. ( we are on a 28 day streak of over 101 temps ) I am so upset with myself, I was so ready to do this and it just seems like I can't get into any kind of groove with it. I really just feel lost.....I know this was my only chance to ever get the weight off.
  8. :wub:There may already be a thread going for Sept, but I was not able to find it. I just found out to day that my insurance approved me for the surgery!! YAH! It has been a roller coaster from day one. My surgeon called me on Thursday and told me I had been denied and was going to have to re-do my 6 month physcian wt loss program, but that I could call the insurance and talk to them and that is exactly what I did lol. Come to find out my Dr's office hadn't faxed all of the paperwork to them and since I had copies don't you know I got right on that  Two hours later the APPROVED call came. I have been working on getting the band since Jan and now that I know it may happen I'm a little nervous. I don't have a date yet, my drs office won't sched until they get the ok from the insurance co, and then I was told that I had to do the liquid diet 7-10 days pre-op and see the nutrionist again. ( why do they not tell you this in your appt? ) I am a little upset with the office staff at my surgeons office. They are not friendly at all and in fact can be quite rude. No information and they seem to act like they are doing you a favor by helping you sched your surgery. I keep telling myself just let it go and get this done.... I figure I will be sched in Sept since I have to do the pre-op diet and see the nutritionist again so I thought it would be great to hear from more September peeps and compare notes! Good Luck to all who are about to enter BANDLAND!! Started 260:scared2: Now 242:tongue_smilie: Goal 160:rolleyes: Approved 7-30-10:thumbup:

    August Rush in bandland!

Hello all! I am 14 days post op and doing great. I have my first follow up with my Dr next Tuesday and I am hoping to be able to get my first fill then. I am on regular food, and so far haven't had any problems. I don't know that I have restriction ( I don't feel anything weird ) but I know I eat very small meals and feel full. I am having a problem with the Protein. I know I am not getting enough in...I cannot take any of the Protein shakes ( I have tried several ) I gag and just can't get them down  I know this is very important, and I also know this is why I am still very tired and have no energy. My question to those that have lost so much weight post op is 1. What are you eating 2. How much are you excercising Hope all of the August Rush is doing great!!! Keep up all the good work.

    August rush 2010!!!

Good Morning! I'm Banded!!!! Went in for a 7:00 surgery and was back to the hotel by 5:00. So far no gas pain ( wow I'm lucky ) but my poor belly sure does hurt. I find it is very hard to get up and down, I've been trying to walk, walk, walk and I even snuck in the shower this morning and just let the hot water run on my back. DH has been so sweet and got up with me several times last night to walk with me ( in case I got dizzy ) Going to try to head home in a little bit. Congats to all my 18th brothers and sisters and to all the AUGUST RUSH!!! I can't wait to become a big loser!!!!

    August rush 2010!!!

Hey guys! I just got settled into my hotel room, trying to relax a little before surgery tomorrow. I had a great pre-op appt with my surgeon. Down another 6 pounds thanks to my 7 day pre-op diet. My surgery is at 7:30 and I have to be at the hospital at 6. The next time I sign on I will be one of the few...the proud...the BANDED!!!! lol

    August rush 2010!!!

ARRRGHHHHHH sorry I just needed to vent a little. I get a phone call from the surgeons office yesterday and the lady was arguing with me about the fact that she had left me messages and I hadn't called her back. Finally I was like ok what can I do for you? So she puts me on hold ( really !!! ) and then comes back and says you owe 200.00 from your first office visit and you are going to have to pay 300.00 up front for your part of the surgery. If you owe more we will have to collect that later. Are you kidding me.....I am 3 days before surgery and this is just now coming up? She was so hateful and then she had the nerve to say so if your not going to be able to meet your obligations.....I said I'll have it when I come in on Tuesday for my pre-op. What a freaking B*tch. sorry but really they have been horrible from day one and I plan on telling the Dr about it ( not that I think he will care ) I will be so glad when Wednesday is here and gone and I don't have to speak with them again. Sorry again I just needed to vent and I think DH is becoming a little weary of all of it

    August rush 2010!!!

I'm officially 1 week from surgery and I saw the nutrionist today to start my 7 day all liquid diet. I was really worried about it, but I don't think it is going to be all bad. I can make my own shakes using no sugar carnation breakfast, greek yogurt and lots of ice. I can also blend atkins shakes with lots of ice. Like I said not so bad for day one but we'll see how I feel on day 5 lol. I head to Texas on Tues for all the pre-op tests and I guess they will give me my surg time then. I'm really excited but starting to get a little nervous too. Although I have spent two years researching and working on getting the band, I'm starting to wonder if it will really work for me ( I have more of a don't eat enough/right foods than eat too much ) I love to read all the success stories here but I stubled on kind of a " I hate the band " thread the other day and some of the posts really shocked me. I know I have the will power to do what I am supposed to: eat right, exercise, lots of water ect now I wonder will that be enough? Last min jitters......man they suck! lol

    August rush 2010!!!

That is just how I feel about it. Their poor attitudes have only caused me to be more determined with my band. They are the very reason people feel uncomfortable talking about the band, being banded ect. I really would have changed Dr's if I had had a choice with my insurance ( long story lol ) It's ok I have learned sooo much on this website and feel like I will have all the support I need right here with our August Rush thread :tongue2: Good Luck to all the RUSHERS!!

    August rush 2010!!!

I know, I just knew they would have a whole packet of " Welcome to your new band" stuff. but nope nothing. Really the staff is horrible! They are very hateful when I call and when I ask about changing my surgery date I was told that it would take her doing a whole bunch with the insurance and I just said that the 18th was fine. I hope I find out more with my nutritionist next week. I guess people just don't understand what it took for all of us to get here. How much we researched, how hard we worked to get everything done to submit to the insurance. Its a huge step and not taken lightly. I would've thought they would be all happy for us or something. Instead I have the office crew from the dark side. lol

    August rush 2010!!!

I'm officially an August Rush!!! I got a call from the surgeons office today and my surgery and my date is Aug 18th! I went from denied to date in 5 days!! Now that I have a date I'm a little nervous. The office staff at the surgeons office is not very helpful and even though I have done a lot of research, I was really hoping they would give me some information, but that didn't happen. All I was told was I needed to see my nutrionist again to get the pre-op liquid diet and be on it 7-10 days before surg. So it looks 15 days from today I will FINALLY be a BANDSTER!:blushing: 6 month diet 1-10/7-10 Appt with Surg 7-21-10 Denied 7-28-10 Approved 7-29-10 ( wow ) Pre-Op 7-17-10 Surg 8-18-10 start/now/goal 260/242/160
  23. Has anyone out there heard of or used Dr Zakkhour ( Dallas Regional Medical Center ) in Mesquite Texas?

Do you have a goal prize?

It may sound simple but when I make my goal wt ( want to lose 80 lbs ) I am going to have a family picture made. ( one where I am not standing in the back hiding behind everyone!
  25. NightNurse

    Really??

Ok so I go in a week and a half for my second weigh in and I am down 4 lbs!!! Which I know seems like it should be great news but its not!! I am right on the bubble for being at a 40 BMI ( which is what I must be to be approved for surgery ) and if I have it figured out right I can only lose 10lbs in the 6 months or else......no surgery. WTC!! I can't believe I am actually mad because I am losing wt. lol It's a first for me. My DH has decided I might just be crazy with all the ranting I have been doing in the last few days. :tt2: On another note I was sure my Dr was going to have my appts made for me by now but I haven't heard anything from the office. I'm not really sure how long it takes to get in to see a nutritionist or psych or what the appt is all about but I am really ready to check those two things off my list. I'm also hoping that with the kids ball season starting it will help the time pass faster!!!
