  1. Sounds like you are doing well. No gas pain? Liquids are the way to go. Good luck. It is the best thing I have done for myself.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will use abdominal surgery as the reason. I think that covers it nicely.

I am going to miss a few days of work because of the surgery. I don't want to lie to my boss but I know she will tell everyone and I don't need or want that type of pressure. What can I tell her that will be factual without telling her that I had lap band. I don't want to lie but I want to keep this private from work. Help.

  5. Good to hear. It sounds like you have lost a lot of weight already. Is a kilo about 16 lbs? Sam:rose:
  6. Well I am getting better at staying there. I agree with ajoneen in that I don't think I need it, but, I guess I am lucky in that my insurance is paying for it. So with a grateful heart, I will enjoy the start of this journey.
  7. Considering "our age group" did any of you find the recuperation time different from what they usually say is 1-2 weeks? Any special problems? I'm not looking for excuses just trying to be aware of any special challenges. I know from previous surgeries that they don't always tell you everything in adva
  8. My surgery is next Monday and they want all banders to stay overnight. Is this common for other surgeons?

  10. Hope you did get the two messages I sent. Sam
  11. Getting banded next Monday. Anyone else getting banded that day? Sam
  12. They told me to take 1200 mg a day of calcium and 1200 mg of vitamin D3. That was the advice of the nutritionist from Blue Cross. Did they tell you this also?
  13. Bariatric Advantage has lots of chewable vitamins, minerals and much more. You can order online and get them a couple of days later delivered to your door.:thumbup:
  14. Susanna When I went to my first intro meeting to find out about lap-band, the room was equally divided into thirtysomethings and sixtysomethings with one person at 70. She told us she was 70 and she came in on a walker. I loved her one question of the doctor. "How soon after surgery can I have sex?" I thought the lady next to her would fall out of her chair! I don't know if she has already had her surgery or not, but she's a hero of mine. Win
  15. Thanks for the good thoughts. You know you get to the point that you will do just about anything to lose weight. My doctor said at "my age" I can't expect to lose all the weight I want to lose. He says that people in this age group are not as motivated in following the program and don't exercise enough. I may not lose as much as my young friend has ( 140 lbs since last Sept.) but I know I will lose more than he thinks I can. Did your doc tell you anything like this? He doesn't have a lot of personality but he has had a lot of experience which is much more important. I also think sometimes they throw this out there to see if it scares you away.
