I have been overweight for my entire life.  I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 1998. I spent several years in denial of my disease and ended up in ICU.  This was one wake up call to take my medications and take care of myself.  Despite, having good blood glucose control after my scare, I continued to gain weight and was put on three different medications. I decided to get lap band surgery in order to take better control of my diabetes and weight. I had surgery on December 18, 2009. I am only a week and half into it.  At times, it has been pretty easy, but I still have moments when I see a certain food and wish I could have it.  I am hoping that with time, those cravings will go away.
