  6. My son Connor being a goof last weekend, he'll be 9 in a couple weeks. I got divorced what he was days old so it's really just been the two of us his entire life. He is my biggest supporter and fan HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  7. This is brilliant, a visual reminder of our success....just not sure i could keep my kiddo from suing with my marbles!!!!
  8. Also...I eat slow, we go out to dinner when the urge trikes, I either share with my son or just get what I want and know there will be waste. (Or leftovers). I eat my dinner in about the same time my family does. HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  9. There's a lot of variation on insurance requirements, some day a year of physician supervised weight loss, some will only require documentation by a medical professional that you have been obese for a certain amount of time. I'd call to verify exactly what they want out of the 12 months. I am almost 3 months out and the sagging has begun. Sigh, better sagging and skinny that fat and dying. We'll see how bad it is down the line. Maybe I can live with it, maybe I'll snippy snippy, I dunno, but I do know, bat wings and all, I'm healthier and feel better than I have in years. Pain is relative and very individual. I did not find it terrible, once I was discharged I took very few pain pills, but...I also never really slowed down. I was back up and running like crazy (exhausted but running) 2 weeks post-op. It's not a walk in the park, but so far, totally worth it!!!! Good luck!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  10. Watch the shots and check the type of protein...a lot of them have collagen which is basically a waste of your money. (And protein sucks!!)
  11. If the nuvaring does come out while you're doing the nasty, you have 3 hours to reinsert it so its not a huge issue. I cannot feel mine, can't even tell its there, it's rather odd!!!!
  12. Yes they do them together all the time....unless your gallbladder is infected or there's a major problem with it I really don't understand waiting!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  13. I'm addition to what they all said...I've been swallowing whole pills and capsules since 4-5 days post op without problem...I do take one at a time instead of a handful....my calcium is a huge capsule, no issues.
  14. I thought the first 4-5 days sucked totally....extremely fatigued and irritable, miserable headache, diarrhea from the shakes. I really wasn't fit to be near anyone it does get better though, not easy, but better good luck!!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  15. Other than the fatigue my recovery has been a piece of cake, rarely took pain meds, most pain was controlled with a heating pad and occasional Tylenol. I can eat anything, meat, bread, pasta, in small amounts and don't get 'stuck' I do dump so I have to get protein when I eat carbs or I feel BAD. I was back at work full time 2 weeks post op, I took a week off with my band....so it took me a little longer to be up and running!
  16. I know it sucks sometimes it gets better, your gut starts making sense a bit....take care of yourself! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  17. Week 3, day 1 of zombie 5K....now laying on my bed with ice on my shins. Ouch.....so, other zombie 5Kers, does your app ever go crazy timing you? I was doing 1 minute runs tonight and realized they were lasting FOREVER..... And during the runs the timer was not working right (if was spot on with the walking though). I've almost decided zombie 5K is out to get me! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  18. You take care, hope all goes well!!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  19. Give it time, your stomach and nerves aren't really awake yet and send out strange signals....be very careful how much you eat and follow your docs orders though. Even though you're feeling hungry, you are not healed and eating too much could potentially cause damage. Good luck, I hope it gets better!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  20. Also....it's not restriction...you just get full and feel full, entirely different feeling. You feel satisfied, something I never felt with my band (or at least once you recover you feel full...at first my tummy felt nothing) HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  21. When I woke up after band removal the pressure and heaviness in my chest and shoulder were magically gone...(of course I did wake up without an RNY.....but 6 months later when I finally woke up with my RNY there was no heaviness or suffocating. It's delightful! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.2
  22. Weeks 3-4-5 I thought I was losing my mind....moody, sad, crying. Looked at the other PA in my office and said sister....1 more week of this and I'm going to let you medicate me....about week 6 it all started falling back into place....be patient, try not to be hard on yourself. Hormone are crazy, surgery is a huge stress....so much change is happening......
  23. Everyone is different....I'm 2 1/2 months post op, i have shakes that you mix with water and some that you mix with milk....they stuff I liked pre-op I loathed post op so don't stock up too much!!!!! Also pretty much hated anything protein smelling post op...the shakes are rough. When I drink em I use Syntrax nectars....thinner, not as sweet and gunky but they have to be ICE cold.....
