    Twenties NSVs

I LOVE THIS THREAD! alright so i was just banded march 10th, but have already had some awesome NSV. i officially can't fit into any of my old pants. my friend the othere day grabbed the back of my pants and told me i had to get a smaller size bc of the butt baggage. the best part was that they were my TIGHTEST jeans pre-op! i had to switch them all with 'skinny pants' drawer i used to only dream of wearing. i'm wearing jeans now i haven't fit in since i was a sophomore in high school! plus yesterday i was in a restaurant my family friend owns and his daughter came up and said 'i just had to walk over here and tell you, you look so good!' it definitely made my day

    Crazy Skinny Goals!

ok, so some of these are definitely repeats, but they're my goals as well so i'm restating them 1. i want to be able to shop in any and every store that i want to 2. i want to go to six flags and on every carnival ride without even the slightest inkling that the bar won't close. 3. i want to be able to wear shorts/short sleeved shirts when it's hot out instead of hiding under layers of clothes and feel confident that i look great 4. i want to be able to wear fashionable boots in the winter that can fit over my calves!
  3. Hi, I was just banded on March 10th but feel very little to any restriction at all. This is even when i introduced solids. It's hard to know when to stop eating but I never eat more than 3-4oz at a time and eat slowly. I feel completely unsatisfied all the time, and told my doctor that I need a fill. When I told him, he said that my insurance (Aetna) would not cover the costs of a fill for the first 90 days and if I wanted to have it done, it would cost about $500 out of pocket. Is/has anyone else had this problem?

    no weight loss

I am so in the same boat! I was banded on March 10th and I lost 14 pounds in the beginning but then over the past week i GAINED 5 pounds! i've been working out and eating perfectly. Our bodies are undergoing alot of changes! As easy as it is to get discouraged, try not to. I'm trying to work on not being so focused on numbers and just getting healthier. if not, i might go crazy! just know you aren't alone!

    Just wondering

Hi, Well I was banded on March 10th and I tried not to weigh myself until my 10 day follow up because of the medications/changes. At my doctor's appointment I found out that I had lost 14 pounds since my surgery. Then today 6 days after my appointment I got on the scale and it said I gained 5 pounds! I've been eating about 600 cals/day so I'm in the same boat. Our bodies just need to adjust and hopefully it will even out over time!
  6. 50 pounds..that's awesome. Like you, i'm a college sophomore and i'm going to be living off of dorm food after my surgery. It's scheduled (as long as the insurance permits) to be on March 10th during my spring break, but then i'm back to the dorms and all of the less-than-ideal eating.

  7. hey, i saw your comment on another person's page and figured i'd say 'hi'. I'm also 19 and getting banded while in college. how's everything going for you?

  8. I completely understand where you are coming from! I'm currently in the pre-op stages. What really kick-started my decision to look into the surgery was the fact that I have had a series of injuries to my left knee (torn ligament, car accident, and currently a torn meniscus). I went to an orthopedic surgeon who was telling me about how 1 pound of your weight is the equivalent to 4 pounds on your knees. I have always been overweight (my parents took me to a nutritionist before I was a year old because of it), but was always able to exercise and stay active to somewhat manage my weight (although I was always significantly above average). Now I can't even go on the treadmill for more than 10 minutes. Just think about how much the quality of your life will go up, and how much less pain you will be in. I'm not sure exactly of your situation, but I know for myself, I was afraid I would be stuck at this weight (if not higher) forever with no exercise escape. Although it is not ideal to have a surgery, I feel like it will give me a fighting chance to a healthy life.
  9. Hey guys, I'm currently a sophomore in college and planning on getting banded on March 10th, 2010 (during spring break). I was just wondering what the experience of being banded was like during college. What were your experiences with meal plans or continuously eating with friends? Also, my intended date of surgery is on a Wednesday and I start class again on Monday, what were your experiences post-op? thanks :smile2:

    lap-band in college

I'm not too worried about people knowing, although I'm not planning on shouting to the rooftops about the surgery. I mentioned the possibility of having the surgery to my roommate and my best friend at school, because I figured they would notice a huge change considering we generally eat every single meal together. I thought it would be easier to tell the people I will be around the most, but haven't mentioned it to my brother (who is away at school) or any other family member beside my parents. I'm sure I will figure things out as I go. I would love to hear how things go for you. Have you officially set your date and gotten approval?

    lap-band in college

I'm living in a dorm this year, with an all-inclusive meal plan. A microwave/fridge are the extent of how I can cook for myself. I figure by the time I will get back to school I will have less than 2 months. Then, luckily, next year I will be living in an off-campus house that has everything i need to cook.
