    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

I was very lucky ... I had no gas pain in my shoulder or anywhere else, for that matter.

Why do liberals Hate Sarah Palin?

I have often had those same thoughts, Phil.

    liquid diet

V8 juice, oatmeal and cream of wheat (both thinned with skim milk), smooth yogurt (no pulp or berry seeds), and applesauce.

    What will I need post-op?

Make sure none of your regular meds are extended release or sustained release, if they are, have your doctor write new Rx. Get a pill crusher for the meds you take, and mix the crushed meds with sugar free pudding. I find that boullion and V-8 juice taste pretty good after all the sweet stuff I have been eating! oatmeal and Cream of Wheat (both thinned with skim milk) are good to have on hand. Low fat yogurt, too. My doctor had me on liquids for 2 weeks before surgery and 2 weeks after surgery ... tomorrow is the end of those 4 weeks!

    New 60+ Thread

Madegraw, hello... I am a couple of months behind you, I was banded the week before last, so I have no comment ... you seem to me to be doing great! Your improved health is significant. I loved the description of your cat, cats have a reputation of being very aloof and reading that you have a really friendly one made me smile. 25+ years ago we had a very friendly cat, as well, and I still miss him. Congratulations ... 34 lbs ... I can't wait until I have lost that!
  6. unaBella ...I am posting my reply knowing that there are going to be a few who will have something to say about it. But here it goes. Well put.

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

It happened to me this afternoon. I had just had a few sips of an unjury vanilla Protein shake and a wave of nausea came over me so suddenly, I couldn't believe it. It was gone in about a 1/2 hour. That is the only bout of nausea I have experienced.
  8. While still in the hospital, the day of my surgery, I experienced gas pain. I was reclined on pillows in bed, raised my arms back over my head and it helped immediately. Give it a try.
  9. I'm happy to hear that ... I have BCBS of Michigan, as well, had surgery January 6th and have not had a fill as yet.
  10. That is a disgusting remark.

Palin joins Fox - right where she belongs!

    News? Surely you jest.

Palin joins Fox - right where she belongs!

Palin is just another Larry 'Lonesome' Rhodes. She is truly Faux News material.
  13. I wish I had been told that I would not be allowed to have anything to drink for 40 hours. If I had known what to expect I would have been much less upset and grouchy with the hospital staff. I went to bed at 9pm on Tuesday before my Wednesday surgery and did not have anything to drink until 1pm on Thursday.

Tips for not drinking after eating?

That is one heck of a great suggestion. Thank your nutrtionist for me!

Why do liberals Hate Sarah Palin?

I have that PG person set on ignore ... but as long as you use the "quote" option when responding to her, I still am subjected to her garbage. LOL.

    Miserably Hungry

One week ago today for me. I have a very healthy appetite and doing Unjury 4-5-6 times a day (shakes and pudding and jello and broth) plus yogurt, V8 juice, oatmeal and cream of wheat just isn't cutting it. I was on liquids 2 weeks before surgery, as well. I am sick of it. So, I chew whatever it is my DH is having and then just spit it out. I just have a few mouthfuls and I'm good.

    Michigan Bandsters

Hello... Brighton, here. I was just banded on January 6th at U of M Hospital, Dr. Finks is my surgeon. I hope to see some activity from some other Michiganders (or do you say Michiganians?). Take care!

Bet you're sorry you voted for Obama now

I'm very happy that I voted a straight Democratic ballot.
  22. How are you? It has been 5 days, right? 4 days for me and all is going okay.

Have you joined in on "Jan band Journey 2010"? Check it out when you have a moment. LAP-BAND

    Take care!

  23. It's 9pm ... you are probably getting into bed and won't see this ... best of everything tomorrow!

    Greek Yogurt YUCK!

I, too, did not care for the Greek yogurt at all. I've heard that smell is 95% of taste ... and this smells awful.
  25. I was banded on the 6th and I am h-u-n-g-r-y. I have no problem with my shakes, broth, V-8, yogurt, pudding, Jello, or cream of wheat or cottage cheese (both thined down with milk). I do get adequate liquids, at least 64 oz. and I do not have to just sip ... I am able to actually take a drink. It must be the "head hunger" I have read about but I'm too afraid of the consequences to do anything that I shouldn't. I feel no restriction at all. I know the band is deflated, but I thought the irritation from the surgery would cause some restriction.
