should i get a fill
Well, here is my take. Your doctor should NOT be ugly with you at all. You're a human, not some pawn for him to mess with. That makes me so mad to hear that surgeons get on their patients. :crying: We need SUPPORT. Not belittling. I would go in, explain the situation and request a fill. If they get nasty, I would try to switch doctors. You are doing the best you can and anyone else would be in the same shoes. Life happens. They need to deal with it. Hugs to you! :tongue2:

Halloween Challenge
Well, the scale finally moved for me, and I lost 1.4 lbs this week, which I'll gladly take because Aunt Flo is moving in for the week any day now. I sort of cut down on the weight training and went for more cardio. I also joined a volleyball league! I've pretty much accepted that I won't see 210 by Halloween, but I'm still going to try to get as close as I can. I just want to see the two-teens next week if I can. One step at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time, right?

What's for lunch today?
I had not quite 1/2 of a chicken wrap (chicken, a little bit of cheese and bbq sauce) - I left most of the tortilla, and then 1/3 cup of white chicken chili. YUMMY!

Got banded on Friday Sept 24,2010
Congrats!:thumbup: I would do what was suggested - take the Protein shake with you and drink as you walk around. It just takes some getting used to. I've had mine for 6 months and LOVE it. It's almost a blur remembering what my recovery was. I had surgery on Monday and went back to work on Thursday. I was sore but it did ease up quickly. The more you move around, the better it gets quickly. :glare: Good luck!!!

100 lb loss celebration!
WOW! That is awesome!!!!:thumbup: How did you do it so quickly? I'm still struggling to hit 60 lbs. You're ROCKIN' it!

Halloween Challenge
Congrats girl! :yesnod: As for me, I squeezed out 1 lb. That's it. I'm so annoyed with myself right now. I got a fill on Friday because my band was pretty loose. I've been working out a lot more than I was and it's like my body is holding onto everything. It's starting to tick me off. I'll never see my Halloween challenge if this keeps up. Today more Protein and hopefully I can get the scale to move this week. Ugh. (Having a cranky day because of it)

One Sneeze Or Coughing Spell Might Be Able To Cause A Slip !!! LOOK AT THIS GUYS
I had a really bad vomiting attack earlier this month and was freaked out thinking my band could have slipped. They think the attack was my gallbladder, but I basically vomited every 15-25 minutes for five hours. We're talking at least 8-10 times. I just had a fluro done and everything was fine. I think that the stitch they do to hold it in place really helps with that.

New guy here
Welcome aboard! If you ever have any questions, I'm more than willing to help, too. I love this board - it has been so good for me throughout my entire journey so far. And I had to crack up at your user name. My friend and I always call ourselves "Fatty McFats". LOL!

The Long and Winding Road
Hopefully I'll be able to post "after" pictures someday. These are during my journey.

Me and my oldest at a Jonas Brothers concert outdoors in 100 degree weather. I think that "might" be the start of a collar bone. I'm not sure. LOL!

Family again - I always wore black before. I actually have on COLOR.

My family about a month ago in Florida. My two girls and my hubby. :)

Me waiting for Michael Buble
-
I felt better when I went to the Michael Buble concert. Wore a sleeveless shirt. The angle of this photo cracked me up. Now, if I could just get rid of that FAT NECK. Ugh.
-
This t-shirt is an XL but I still feel like it's not big enough. Hubby said it was fine, but still...EEK! I haven't worn an XL t-shirt in 10 years!

My husband and I. I don't feel like my face is as fat as it was. I'm down about 45-46 lbs here.

should i get a fill
I had that with my last fill - because I had lost a good amount of weight and could still eat my Protein without the PBs, they held off on the fill until today. They did a fluro and saw that my band had loosened up (I had lost 20+ lbs since the last one) so they tweaked me a good one. I would wait - you've lost a GREAT amount of weight and are doing really well right now. Remember - it will come off faster at first because you have more to lose. You're still doing an awesome job. The goal is to eventually get to 1-2 lbs per week for healthy loss. I know it's hard - goodness knows I struggle with the same concept and I've only lost 56 lbs since March, but that's still 56 lbs that has made a BIG difference. What they did for me is skipped the last fill and scheduled the next one for four weeks out. I would look at doing that. You're doing great!

The grass really IS greener in Onederville!!!
THAT. IS. AWESOME!!!! :biggrin::thumbup::thumbup:

Please help me understand what my fiance' may be going through?
My doc only used a fluro the first time I got a fill. After that, it's just been a regular fill on the table. I'm lucky that my band doc is literally 5 minutes from my house. I am not sure how I would handle that but I would check out forums and encourage her to join up so that she can "talk" with other Bandsters, too. We're a welcoming group because all of us are in the same boat. I'm sure someone will know a good fill doc that she can use near her, because I know there are a number of Canadians on the boards. And their treating her like a leper really ticks me off. It's called "SUPPORT" and these are supposed to be medical PROFESSIONALS. It's like a high school pissing contest. Ugh.

Expectations
I have to agree. Sometimes people just have to call out the "elephant in the room". (No pun intended) He is speaking the truth. It's not an "easy fix" - it's a tool.

Do you think Drew Carey had WLS????
I thought Sharon Osborne had Gastric Bypass. I'm pretty sure that was the one. But, one of the NFL coaches had a band - I think he coaches the Eagles? Wouldn't surprise me if Drew Carey had it. I haven't seen the pictures yet but I did hear he's got a very different look. It wouldn't surprise me if KELLY Osborne got a band or something. Have you seen her lately?

Battling the demons
Whenever that happens to me, I find that sticking a picture of the ideal body type on the front of the fridge helps me. Sounds hokey but it does work, because then I look at it and I'm like "dangit" and I walk away. That and snapping a rubber band on my wrist. Pain tends to help with Pavlov's Dog, too. LOL!

Average age of a Bandster?
I am 34 and would have done it 10+ years ago if I could have. I didn't know about the band until the past few years and then it took a card in the mail and a kick in the butt to go for it. I am SO glad I did. For anyone that thinks they'll wait - DON'T. Do it as soon as you can.
-
New Here. Friends?
WOW! That is awesome! You'll find friends of all ages on this board. I'm 34 but like to think I'm still in my 20's. LOL!

Hair Loss?
I was experiencing a lot of hair loss and I started taking Biotin in addition to making sure I get my Protein and Multivitamin and I think (hope) it has slowed down some. I was freaking out when I first noticed it because I have always had really thick hair. I would recommend getting biotin supplements and I think there is something called Nioxin you can try from beauty supply stores. I'm still waiting on my soon-to-be niece to get me some.

Scale Obsession?
Self-proclaimed scale Whore here, too. I weigh myself every morning and not just once, but usually like four or five times until I seem to get a number that is consistent. (Because the darn thing never gives me the same number two times in a row) But, I made my "official" weight day Monday mornings. I think if you do that, it makes it a bit better. So, you'll fluctuate during the week but one day a week it becomes "official".

Is it true
I agree with Trish. I've ramped up my exercise which includes some strength training and my pants are loose but I have only lost 1 lb. I think that you convert some of the fat pounds to muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but building more muscle also helps your metabolic rate because you burn more calories while resting. Wow...I just rambled there, but you get the point.

How long after surgery did you start having sex again?
For me it was less than a week. But, I was also the chick that was pawing at my husband about 3 weeks after giving birth, so I don't know what that says about me. LOL!
-
Why am I starting to doubt myself now?
I felt the same way the week of my surgery and kept thinking "Am I sure" and then the "what if I fail" - all sorts of things go through your mind. I will tell all of you, that it has been the SINGLE BEST DECISION I have ever made for myself and has been the one thing that has helped me to lose more weight than I ever have before. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love my band. I have changed my eating habits, but not so drastically that I'm miserable. I actually ENJOY my Protein first and find myself craving it. I don't miss soda pop and I was never one to really drink alcohol, so I don't miss that, either. Wiggling into a size 16 dress today made it all worth it for me. One day I hope to see a 12. Trust me - the surgery will be over and you will be so happy with the results in about six months or so. Good luck to everyone and if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. I remember being a new bandster and feeling so lost!

Halloween Challenge
I was worried that I wouldn't see a loss this morning because all week I kept going up and down, but I think my body finally let go of a little bit - I saw 223.9 on the scale. I started walking up and down flights of stairs at work and doing more workouts, so I think my body was either holding on to my fat or it's muscle tone from all the up and down on the steps. I see my doc for a fill on Friday. I'm hoping to get like a .1 in there. They didn't fill me the last time but I know I'm eating more now than I was two months ago at dinner, etc. I don't want to PB, but at the same time, I don't want to be wide open in the evenings, either. Hope everyone else is doing well!

In need of some serious advice!
Ok - I'm sort of on the other side of this so hopefully my position helps. I dated someone (we weren't married but almost were) for three years and I've been married to my husband for 12 years, but there are times when we go over to his brother's house and he is there and we have grill outs, etc. Was it weird at first? Yea. But, he and I are just friends, there are no feelings there (at least on my side) and he and my husband actually get along well. Now, I will say if it were reverse where it was my husband's ex, I'm not going to lie, I would be uncomfortable just like you. So, I can TOTALLY see your side, too. What does he say when you approach him about the subject?
