  1. hi i was banded 27th nov 09 i started out at a uk size 30 i am now a confortable size 14/16 i was a 44DD i am now a depressing 36C
  2. carbonated fluids are a total no no after the band surgery why would you want to stuff your chances of loosing all your excess weight by expanding your pouch with cola etc. i forgot one dfay and had a mouth full i was in pain for 3 hours after it so i wont be doing that trick again ever.
  3. well i go tomorrow to get my fluid levels checked again i just hope and pray i have not got a leak in my band if there fluid missing again i will have to go for a dye test on my band to see if its leaking anywhere and then im told i will have to pay the hospital fees and a new band untill they can send the band off and get it checked if there is a default in it then i will get my money back, that senario is fine if i actually had any money to pay for this
  4. hi lost half of my excess in may this year and my hubby walked out cos he said i sdidnt eat enough something tells me that he was a feeder so good riddence but sorry your going through that maybe he will come round why not try different positions maybe youll find one that doesnt cause him discomfort
  5. hi i had a sickness bug over the weekend the thing is when you are vomiting your stomache will swell plus you get increased blood flow into the stomache lining on the out side this will make your band tighter as is what has happend to mine. realistically you should get a small amount of fluid taken out but failing that stay with your protein drinks and watery fluids. also try and make some thin smoothies up with banana as every time you are sick you loose potassium which can make your system short of it this can have side effects too one of the more serious side effects is the effects it has on your heart if you a deficient. stay on the fluids for at least 4 to 5 days to give your stomach a total rest otherwise it will take longer for the swelling to go down and keep you tight for longer. i have had my band for 12 months now and this is the first time i have had any type of sickness other than the not chewing enough and being stuck you should be aiming to get at least 2 litres of fluid down a day to keep hydrated. but other than that or the unfill that's all you can do until it passes. that and watch the scales drop drastically i dropped 14lb over the weekend which was good for my weight but i a little too fast for my liking but we cant have it all ways can we.
  6. hi not sure about your sugar levels hun but i have been banded now a year in 10 days and i get dumping syndrome if i eat something with a high sugar content, never had a problem with blood sugars before its only been for the last couple of months this has happened to me. i have lost all except 2 stone of my excess body fat and weight and now that i am getting near goal things are changing big time for me. in total i have lost 129lb so far which i am really proud of. just got 27lb to go now. hope you manage to sort it out hunni
  7. i have been banded since 27th nov last year wich is one year in 2 and half weeks and i have lost a total of 126lb since going for my surgery and feel amazing, i have dropped form a uk size 30 to a 14/16 and my only regret is that i didnt have the surgery years ago
  8. yeah so do i i have lost 123lb so far and dont want to hit a problem now
  9. my fill nurse decided that i needed the amount of fluid in my band to be checked at my last fill as i had lost restriction after only 4 weeks after a fill. when she drew the fluid back there appeared to be 1,85ml less in my band than she said there should have been. this worried me and her she said she knew that you can get some evaporation of the fluid over time but not that much i now have to go back on the 24th to get the levels checked again as she put a further .75ml into my band. really not happy that so much seems to have disappeared
  10. having antibiotics can cause stomache irritation at the best of times, but i had a fill a week last tuesday and experienced the same problem. i went back to liquids for 3 days to allow my stomache to settle, then i went onto mushies for 3 days and yesterday started again with normal food i will be a year out at the end of this month and now have 7.25ml in a 10ml band. the problems i have had after a fill has always been my own fault of trying to eat as i did before the fill, everytime you have afill you need to eat slower and chew alot more because your band willl be tighter than before and wont allow the same size food through as before. also the more restricted you are the more likely that certain foods can no longer be tolerated. go back to basics with your eating and then try and introduce other foods slowly so that you can gage what you can and cannot eat again. its not that your band will have slipped although i hope it hasn't it could be that you simply are not allowing for the adjustment and try to eat as you did before the fill.
  11. by the time the 25th comes around you wont know you had it done hun, you might still have a bit of gas pain but that will be about it. i had mine done and was back at work within 10 days http://www.tickerfactory.com/ezticker/weight_loss.php/wliXqKh
  12. i had my op last nov and when i have a fill i never feel it striaght away but am is tighter than pm with me i cant eat untill around mid day and then not alot so yeah its pretty normal
  13. well i have been today and seen my fill nurse, my band hasnt popped or slipped opr anthing bad, she did manage to put .4ml(cc) into my band she did try .5 but i think the fact i nearly puked on her made her draw some back lol. so she also weighed me and i have lost 5 stone from my heaviest weight which is 70lbs and from when i had my op done i have lost 42lb since the 27th nov 09. so i am really happy about that, i have dropped form a size 28-30 to just not quite comfy in a 20 now they fasten but i cant sit down yet lol. never in a million years would i ever have thought i would loose 5 stone.
  14. i went on holiday on the 12th april this year, when i got to the resort i was fine and still had an adequate amount of restriction then 12 days later i flew home again, since getting home i found that i had actually gained 4 pounds but to my amazement with in 3 days of constantly needing to pee i had lost the 4 pounds BUT having lost the 4 pounds i had gained which i put down to fluid retention because of the holiday, the heat, and the flight. i have now got no restriction, i can eat anything and not get stuck, even more worrying i can eat alot more than i should be eating and get very hungry. before i rarely felt hungry and had to be reminded that i hadnt eaten for 6 hours, now im lucky if i go 3 hours between meals with out feeling like i could eat a horse. the wuestion i have is can air travel make you loose fluid in your band i know that sometimes it can make your band tighten if you have small air bubbles in it, but cant find anything about loss of restriction after a flight. has anyone got any info they could pass on to me regarding this. im so frustrated i have lost 65lb now since the 27th nov09 when i had my op and worried that my weight will grow again. i am however going for a fill on wednesday but find the loss of restriction so confusing. thanks flo
  15. i had my surg on 27th nov09, i started out at 308lb the first two weeks out and full of pain and gas i was like what have i done, but one morning i woke up with out any pain and i couldnt understand one day pain day after no pain. when i finally moved onto solids 6 weeks after surgery i realised that the amount i could actually eat was way, way less than i would have eaten before. i am now for the first time in my entire life 65lb lighter, i have never lost that much weight ever. i love my band, although at the minute my restriction has gone again which i am told is because i have lost fat from round my stomache so my band has loosened and need a fill i have never after the first initial weeks ever thought why did i do it. i would do it again in a heartbeat and have infact talked two friends into doing the very same thing, and they now love their bands too.
