  1. i have been told that a funny turn i had was due to have a dumping syndrome episode from my surgeon. i had a fill and was on liquids for 2 days after then puréed for 3 days and then to solids. whilst on liquids i had a liquorish sweet which is quite high in sugar as i felt a little low on my sugar, after a couple of minutes i went very shaky and felt very sickly and then i about half an hour after that had diahrea i text my surgeon who text me back saying i had a dumping syndrome episode because i was on liquids. has anyone else had this i thought it was only bypass that suffered this
  2. Hi I had my surgery in Nov 09 weighing in at 27 stone 9 pounds (387 pounds) I now weigh 189 pounds thats 13 stone 7 pounds and feeling amazing.. I got married again on 16Th Feb this year and was able to send off my measurements to china and got an amazing dress back for £100 hand made, looked amazing on the day as well . if you have just had your band and feeling low dont, i get times where my weight fluctuates badly and I feel bad when it goes up but it soon heads back down again very quickly. bare with it and keep going.

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

i had surgery with Dr Chris last year in march, he did a tummy tuck for me and did a really good job for me. said he had gone further round my side thatn he would have done normally although he knows how much i have pushed myself to loose the 14 stone i lost so he tried to match my effort he said. He had some bad reviews regarding an incident where he had banded someone and he was critrsized for it cos their weight wasnt high enough to warrent it but he is very good at what he does.

    Diet coke post -op

carbonated fluids are a total no no after the band surgery why would you want to stuff your chances of loosing all your excess weight by expanding your pouch with cola etc. i forgot one dfay and had a mouth full i was in pain for 3 hours after it so i wont be doing that trick again ever.

    Poll: NHS or Private

you know what maincat i find your post annoying and intimidating, you have a bad manner and to boot you are aggressive and that is not what this site is all about if you continue with this bombardment of abuse at people and your total disregard of people opinions then please feel free to leave the site. people come here to gain knowledge from others experience and knowledge not to sit here post after post and listen to your argumentative dribble. from the way you speak I would take it that either you are not in actual fact banded or you have a beef with the fact that your weight loss is unacceptable either way please refrain from being so pompous and either play nicely or leave and yes I spelled checked before I posted.

    Poll: NHS or Private

i had my band one privately in manchester alexandra Bupa hospital under Dr Ammori on 27th nov 09 since then i have lost a total of 125 pounds i was 322lb i am now 197 and need to be 168lbs so not far to go now. i would not go to an nhs hospital for mine and infact didnt even ask my gp about it i just went ahead and did it. my only regret is that i didnt have it done years ago. nhs hospitals have too many super bugs and didnt want to risk catching anything from them. and if needed i would go private all over again when i got to surgicare who i went through if i say fill they fill non of this messing about waiting and checking weight loss etc. like you have to do with nhs i even went in for an unfill to go to cuba as was told that the flight could tighten my band up and because i went private and got a 2 year after care package was all free of charge. i have heard of so many that have gone nhs and not even lost half of what i have lost because the after care is just not there or is but is not enough to maintain a good weight loss. if you have the money dont hessitate go private and get a good after care package with it the results will prove a lot better in the long run my brother in law had one done 5 years ago he lost 6 stones and then gained 10 cos the after care had stopped 6 months after surgery.
  9. my fill nurse decided that i needed the amount of fluid in my band to be checked at my last fill as i had lost restriction after only 4 weeks after a fill. when she drew the fluid back there appeared to be 1,85ml less in my band than she said there should have been. this worried me and her she said she knew that you can get some evaporation of the fluid over time but not that much i now have to go back on the 24th to get the levels checked again as she put a further .75ml into my band. really not happy that so much seems to have disappeared
  10. well i go tomorrow to get my fluid levels checked again i just hope and pray i have not got a leak in my band if there fluid missing again i will have to go for a dye test on my band to see if its leaking anywhere and then im told i will have to pay the hospital fees and a new band untill they can send the band off and get it checked if there is a default in it then i will get my money back, that senario is fine if i actually had any money to pay for this
  11. try altering your siet hun see what happens it could be your consuming too high a sugar content or not enough dont understand the american sugar levels ours seem alot lower than yours lol but i have had to cut all sugar out of my diet now but am able to tolerate fruits in fat free yoghurt which is strange but never mind all trial and error after the band
  12. hi lost half of my excess in may this year and my hubby walked out cos he said i sdidnt eat enough something tells me that he was a feeder so good riddence but sorry your going through that maybe he will come round why not try different positions maybe youll find one that doesnt cause him discomfort
  13. hi i had a sickness bug over the weekend the thing is when you are vomiting your stomache will swell plus you get increased blood flow into the stomache lining on the out side this will make your band tighter as is what has happend to mine. realistically you should get a small amount of fluid taken out but failing that stay with your protein drinks and watery fluids. also try and make some thin smoothies up with banana as every time you are sick you loose potassium which can make your system short of it this can have side effects too one of the more serious side effects is the effects it has on your heart if you a deficient. stay on the fluids for at least 4 to 5 days to give your stomach a total rest otherwise it will take longer for the swelling to go down and keep you tight for longer. i have had my band for 12 months now and this is the first time i have had any type of sickness other than the not chewing enough and being stuck you should be aiming to get at least 2 litres of fluid down a day to keep hydrated. but other than that or the unfill that's all you can do until it passes. that and watch the scales drop drastically i dropped 14lb over the weekend which was good for my weight but i a little too fast for my liking but we cant have it all ways can we.
  14. hi not sure about your sugar levels hun but i have been banded now a year in 10 days and i get dumping syndrome if i eat something with a high sugar content, never had a problem with blood sugars before its only been for the last couple of months this has happened to me. i have lost all except 2 stone of my excess body fat and weight and now that i am getting near goal things are changing big time for me. in total i have lost 129lb so far which i am really proud of. just got 27lb to go now. hope you manage to sort it out hunni

    14 weeks and 50% down!

i have been banded since 27th nov last year wich is one year in 2 and half weeks and i have lost a total of 126lb since going for my surgery and feel amazing, i have dropped form a uk size 30 to a 14/16 and my only regret is that i didnt have the surgery years ago
  16. thanks i thought it was just me, im not diabetic or anything although after a fill my blood sugar levels do drop and can drop quite quickly and suddenly but never in my life experienced that before
  17. yeah so do i i have lost 123lb so far and dont want to hit a problem now
  18. well my friend thought i was going to pass out and she is bypass ans said it was classic dumping syndrome but ifelt really ill felt like i had gone all tingley inside started feeling dizzy as well, felt sick but wasnt sick, shaking really bad, colour drained out of me as well, and then the runs afterwards just once but that was bad enough. so really scared the wits out of me. spoke to my surgeon about it and he confirmed that my system must just be really sensitive and that it was dumping syndrome. i have had my band nearly a year now and never before had this and just wondered if anyone else had the same problems after a fill
  19. having antibiotics can cause stomache irritation at the best of times, but i had a fill a week last tuesday and experienced the same problem. i went back to liquids for 3 days to allow my stomache to settle, then i went onto mushies for 3 days and yesterday started again with normal food i will be a year out at the end of this month and now have 7.25ml in a 10ml band. the problems i have had after a fill has always been my own fault of trying to eat as i did before the fill, everytime you have afill you need to eat slower and chew alot more because your band willl be tighter than before and wont allow the same size food through as before. also the more restricted you are the more likely that certain foods can no longer be tolerated. go back to basics with your eating and then try and introduce other foods slowly so that you can gage what you can and cannot eat again. its not that your band will have slipped although i hope it hasn't it could be that you simply are not allowing for the adjustment and try to eat as you did before the fill.
