  1. I'm with Leigha on this one. If my band is tight, drinking after eating is pretty much impossible for me. Causes me a lot of pain, and it's just not worth it.
  2. Get an unfill. Everyone is different. Take me for example. My last fill was in february, and since then I 've had to go for 2 unfills, and I'll prob be going for another soon. It's been every 20lbs I lose since feb I have to go for an unfill. Don't live being miserable. You can hurt yourself, and your band.
  3. I was SZ 26(getting on the tight side) pants I was SZ 22/24 tops I was SZ 44G I am now SZ 18 pants I am now Sz 14/16 tops I am now SZ 40DDD and I still have 68 lbs to go!!!!!!!!!!
  4. For me, I definitely get tighter the more I lose. The last fill I had was feb 3, and since then I've had to have 2 unfills. The first one wasn't so bad-lost 20lbs, and I got tighter but I could stil kinda manage, but knew I needed an unfill. The 2nd unill was another 20lbs down-thats 40lbs since the original fill- and I ended up so tight, that I couldn't keep down water, and I was waking up choking on vomit. Waking up vomiting is not pleasant. I was miserable, and I had to wait until my Dr was in his office close to me because I had just started a new job, and couldn't afford to take a day off. Even now, I find myself starting to get tighter as I'm dropping more weight. Trying to drink hot tea while at work, and taht seems to help a little.
  5. Hey there, I'm Sara. I live in Rancho Cucamonga, and I was banded 11/12/09 by Dr. Salimitari.
  6. I', hypo-and I have found that for me, it makes a big difference if I'm on my meds or not. I was off of my synthroid for 3 1/2 months due to money issues, and did not lose a pound during that time. I actually gained a couple. I was able to go back on it a couple weeks ago and I've dropped 10 lbs since. And the pills are small enough that I have not had a single problem swallowing them-I take pills larger than that, and my band is pretty tight.
  7. :thumbup:Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated on here. Of course, I didn't really have much to update, since I hit a lovely 3 month plateau:scared2: I was stuck at 240 for the longest time. I did figure out taht there was a couple different reasons for my plateau-1. I was expecting one after 50lbs down and 2. I had to stop taking my thyroid meds because I couldn't afford them. I started back on my meds a couple weeks ago, and lo aand behold, the scale started moving again. I hit my 70lb mark which had me ecstatic a couple days ago:party: I also just did my measurments for the first time since January 25:eek: I totally have been slacking on that; I planned to do them once a month. But I got some great NSV's from doing them today. I've gone from a solid size 26 to a comfortable 18(in most brands), and since I've been banded I have lost: 1 1/2 inches off my arms 5 inches off my thighs 9 inches off my waist!! 5 1/2 inches off my bust 3 inches off my chest 6 1/2 inches off my stomach 2 3/4 inches of my calves 6 1/2 inches off my hips and i've brought my bra size from a 44G to a 38DDD which means 6 inches that is a grand total of.......45 3/4 inches lost!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tongue2::thumbup:
  8. I was relativily lucky, and knew that I had low thyroid levels all the way back in high school. Most of the women in my family have under active thyroids. What I've found is when I don't take my medicine-like i didn't for the past 3 months due to lack of $$$-I don't lose. I went back onto my synthroid 2 1/2 weeks ago, and have dropped like 10lbs since-which is very heartening after a 3 month plataue
  9. I still can't do scrambled eggs and i'm almost 9 months out. Mashed potatoes I can do in small quantities. But and alternitive I liked during mushiesis cooked carrots in chicken broth, then mash them like potatoes. That's still one of my favorites. I just take baby carrots-sometimes i cut them up sometimes i don"t- and boil them in water and chicken bullion like i'm making chicken soup. :rolleyes2:
  10. Speaking from experience, vomiting every day is no fun. twice now my band has gotten so tight for no reason ive had to go get unfills. I havent had a fill since teh begining of feb. and teh last time i went in for an unfill, I was so tight, I couldnt even keep down water, and whatever I manged to get into my body would be thrown up during the night while i was sleeping. Unfortunatly i waited a little too long, and i started losing unhealthy weight, and once i got my 2nd unfill i gained back some of the weight i had lost. ugh. always go in if you even think you're too tight. its not worth it in the long run.
  11. The more I lose, the tighter I get. Weird right? Has that happened to anyone else? The last fill I got(.5cc) was in February. I was at perfect restriction, but after about 7 weeks, and about 15 lbs, I got too tight. So, off I went to my Dr, and got a slight unfil of -.2cc. Again I was at good restriction, another 6 weeks, and 12ish lbs down, I got so tight that I couldn't even drink water. Again, off I go to the Dr for an unfill, and this time a whopping 1 cc was taken out. I am now .7cc down from where I started in February. And I'm a hair away from perfect restriction again. Ugh.
  12. Hey there. I'm 25, and I had had my surgery on November 12th. As of this morning, i've lost 62.8 lbs, dropped almost 10pts off my bmi, and dropped almost 4 clothing sizes, and my self confidence is way up. If I had the choice to do it again, I would do it in a heart beat.
  13. I'm totally with Missy and the others on this. I weigh myself every day, and if it goes down then i'm good, and if it doesn't, well, the body does flucuate, and I don't let it get to me. Of course, I'm going on a 4 day road trip tomorrow and will be away from my scale for that entire time. who know what will happen, lol.
  14. Hey everyone, I just wanted to check in. Today is 5 months since I was banded, and I am down 55.6:thumbup: pounds. I started at a 26, and now i'm wearing 20/22's, depending on the brand. I've had definite restriction since the beginning of February, and 7 weeks after that fill I actually had to get a slight unfill because I got really tight unexpectedly. That wasn't fun. I got to see family on Easter that I hadn't seen since I got banded, and it was great. THey knew I had lost the weight, but they were still suprised at how much you could tell. I really do have a great support system with them:tt1:. I've been lucky witha great support system in general:wub:; out of all of my friends and family(which is a LOT of people-both parents are 1 of 7 with all the cousins to match) I can count on one hand the people who had some concerns, and even they are very supportive. Next week will bring new challenges for me. I haven't worked since Nov. I was off the month after surgery, and then I quit, and have been looking for a job since Dec, and I finally found one:thumbup:. I'm ecstatic about it for a few reasons...1) I didn't have to resort to a fast food job where I would be surrounded by food all day long 2) It will be a lot harder for me to graze through out the day 3) I'll finally be making money which means I will have way more control over what I eat-meaning I can shop for myself, and not have to rely on what the rest of my family is eating. My only concerns are how I"m going to adjust to working again, and finding a good variety of foods taht I can eat easily without fear of getting stuck, or tired of teh same old food every day. Good luck everyone, and I hope all is well!!!!!!
  15. What you're experiencing is absolutely normal. As far as I can tell, just about everyone goes thru this, with the exception of those lucky few who have restriction right from the start. Hopefully you'll start experiencing some restriction at your first fill, but don't expect to be at your "sweet spot" with your first fill. You just have to tough it out, and remember that it's all worth it. What you're experience has been aptly named Bandster Hell. But it will get better. Remember that you have all of us here on the boards for support, and we're here every step of the way.
  16. It's been 7 weeks since my last fill, and in this past week, i've gotten crazy tight. To the point where i'm lucky if i'm getting in 1/4c of food at a time. It's kinda frustrating. I've been trying to get in my protein but it's been next to impossible it seems. Fortunatly I only have a couple more days of this, and then I see my dr on surgery. But until then, anyone have any ideas on how to get my protien in, other than the obvious protein shakes? And has this sudden restriction happened to anyone else?
  17. So, I had a girls night out this past friday, and I had an awesome time. And, with the exceptions of being out for the first time in months and getting to hang with my girls, I am crediting my awesome time to my new found confidence with those 43 pounds gone. I got myself all dolled up-did my makeup, cute outfit, a pair of boots. And I felt pretty awesome when I finished getting ready. So we get to the club, and i go outside to the patio with hone of my friends because the weather is awesome, you can hear way better, and my friend wanted a smoke. Now, normally when we go out, it the guys that talk to her, hit on her and what-not, and generally tend to-well, not ignore me, but you know the feeling. This time they were talking to both of us. We ended up talking to these guys off and on thru out the night. My friend and I ended up staying outside for most of the night. We ended up talking with 2 other girls, and I got hit on by one! Ego boost starting for me, because she was this tiny little blond. With the body I wish I had. While we were talking to these girls, another girl came up thet knew them, and she hit on me too. *shock* A couple hours later, I was coming back from the bathroom with the blond, and we were headed back outside, and we got stopped by this guy at the door. He came out with us, and to my shock, started flirting with me, not the blond. My friend and I ended up hanging with him for the rest of the rest of the night, and giving him a ride to his hotel room because his friends had left him.(He lives 1-2 hours away from where we were at) And he asked for my numbers, then called my phone so that I had his  To think, what a difference that 4 months can make. Bring on the rest of the weight loss(and hopefully a call or text from him:wink2:)
  18. One of my goal prizes is cutting my hair. I get bored with my hair really quick, so its tough not to cut it. And by bored I mean I have dyed it, streaked it, permed it, cut half of it off, bleached it, dyed it crazy colors(electric blue, fire engine red spikes)grew it back out. But whenever it gets long enough, I donate my hair to Locks Of Love, in memory of my sister that passed away. So far my hair is already halfway down my back-it's really thick, so in the summer it gets really hot, and thats one of the main reasons i like to cut it in the summer. So, by the time I hit goal my hair should be hitting my butt. I know i'll bee getting a tt, breast lift, thigh lift, and brachioplasty, but I don't have to worry about paying for that, because my dad is going to pay for it all. yay!!
  19. Hey there...there's a large thread for those of us who were banded Nov of 09. If you look under the Monthly Lap-Band support groups forum, and then go to 2009, you should find november in there. Good Luck!!!!!!!
  20. So, I hit my 4 month mark yesterday. And i was at 39.6 pounds lost :wink2: And I've gone from a tight 26/loose 28 too a tight 20(depending on the brand).which I wore today, and I was happy to not be pulling up my pants every 10 secs, lol. Averages out to 10lbs a month which I am perfectly happy with. Now if I can keep losing at this rate I will be very ready for my trip to Hawaii at the begining of june.
  21. I've thought in the past that it could be a pinched nerve, but I never got it checked out. When it started happening, i had no insurance, and then when i had insurance, i had bigger things to worry about. I have found that as i lose weight, it gets better. :wink2:
  22. Hey everyone. Wow, what a month. After stalling out during all of jan, i got my 3rd fill at the begining of this month. What a difference it made. I was really tight for the 2 weeks after, and then loosened up to perfect restriction, and the weght has been dropping off. This week I hit a couple of milestones and mini goals. I hit my 30lb mark, I have officially lost 10% of my original weight, and I am no longer morbidly obese :wink2: And beause of my journey, I think that a couple of my family members are now seriously condidering getting banded themselves, which would be awesome. Hope everyone is going good, and no slipped bands, or whatnot.
  23. Just curious, is it your whole thigh or just parts of it? I've had problems with numbness in my upper right thigh for years. Always worse when i've been on my feet for awhile. When i've been on my feet, it feels like something that was asleep is waking up, the paiful tingling, but even with the tingling, i can't feel anything that touches my leg in that spot. It's annoying.
  24. Oh My Gosh that is hilarious!!! I can totally relate.
  25. I started with an empty band, and got my 3rd fill yesterday. I have a total of 4.2 cc and have definite restriction. Remember, everyone is different.
